I'm currently living in Costa Rica for six months with my family. I can't find anywhere to do long runs cause I'm too afraid of the crazy drivers on the busier roads outside town(no shoulders) and nervous about the isolation on the less busy roads.

I have a 4.5 km (there and back) stretch of beautiful beach to run on though - I can do that a couple of times and then jump on the treadmill when I have to.
I love running around in town too; it's how I've really gotten to know the lay of the land.

Great pictures! As to running in another country, that's how I got my start! I started running while living/working abroad in Germany. Wow, that brings back memories. I used to leave the housing block I lived in, head out of town, and run through the fields there. What a long time ago. Coming back to the US, it would be years before I would start running regularly again. Nowadays, I find running is an awesome way to see the sights and tour new places. Hubby will get the chance to run again abroad this year as we signed up for the Jungfrau Marathon in Switzerland! I lived in Morelia, Mexico for a quarter in college. My roomie & I ran every single morning before spanish classes. It was the best way to get to know the city, including parts that we would never have otherwise visited.

I got to run in St. Croix while I was on a mission trip... A few of us would go out every morning and run the short distance to the ocean and run on the shore and down the pier, and back... running in sand is much tougher than running on a road! lol... it was so beautiful! You could definitely get lost in your thoughts and all the beauty surrounding you on your run! :)

When I was in college I ran in Spain. I lived there and ran many times a week. People looked at me like I had ten heads...apparently they don't run there! Either way it was a challenge since it was a city but it was a great way to see the city! However I'm happy with my usual beach run at home. Have fun Mel! Soak in some warmth for me!
