3 Things Thursday

Blogging weekly has been hard to fit in these days..I think it mostly boils down to the fact that I don't want to be on the computer ALL THE TIME.. I fit it in when I can.. and that works for me and my family.  To catch up here are a few things going on.

1.  Brunch and Baby Gender

I had brunch on Sunday with the AMAZING runner buddies.. It turned out to be a Christmas, Valentines, B-day, catch up celebration... I always feel better when I have spent time with these girls.. and look at the awesome Valentines gift Auntie Zoe gave us..
 We will (hopefully) find out the gender on March 4th and then I will be able to start planning and shopping.. People have asked me if I want a girl, we have 2 boys ages 7 and 5, my answer is this.  "Yes I would like to have a daughter but once I know either way my heart will be happy."  I am not going to lie and say that I don't care but at the end of the day it is already decided and we will appreciate and cherish the gift we have been given whether pink or blue..  SIDE-NOTE: I know 4 women who are pregnant with girls right now, maybe it is a trend :)

2.  I am feeling FIT!!!

When pregnant with both our boys I did not work out.  This time I am determined to keep a consistent and realistic activity schedule.  So far walking, hiking and/or running every day has been working for me.  I feel great and have been able to put in more miles than my initial goal of 10-15 per week.  The bump is growing but I have only gained 5-7 pounds (depending on time of day weighed) in the 18 weeks, this means that I have only gained what is needed for the health of our baby and that is GREAT!!

This is a total optical illusion, the black and angle hide the bump.. but I sorta love it because I feel like I look fit and healthy.

 3.  Family Time

With the birth of Baby #3 on the horizon I am truly cherishing time with our boys.. Trouble is I have been pretty low energy at night which makes it sorta hard to leave the couch..  Thankfully Muscle Man has been picking up the slack.. Our $29 Fire pit from Home Depot has been put to good use, I joined them and toasted a few marshmallows the other night..
 The weekend Family hikes have replaced the second day of running.  This lets the boys get in a workout and gives us time together.. I plan to buy a Washington hiking book with trail maps very soon so that we know what to expect when we venture out.

The boys are full of adventure... I love it!!

That is all I have for now.. The active streak continues, started on January 27th, although today with the rain and wind our lunch walk was stopped... and I have a massage after work.. guess it will be a treadmill walk for me..

Winter in WA

Watching the news my hearts goes out to those who are suffering with snow storms and tough winter conditions.  Winter has been a bit chilly here for my taste but nothing that would not stop us from getting outside.  In fact I have walked or run every day since January 27th- 16 days straight!!  My team at work is great, we have made our 2 mile lunch walk a habit.   This is awesome to get fresh air and keep me going the whole day. 

This past weekend was stellar.  We opted to go for a hike on Saturday to nearby Mud Mountain Dam.  The park itself is closed on the weekends, which was a bit baffling, guessing it is a winter thing.  This was our first time hiking here but we quickly found the trail system.  I used my Garmin since we had the boys and I did not want to overdo it.  A backpack with water, snacks and first aid kit and off we went.  Our little guy lead for about 80% of the trip.  Both kids love hiking and told us that several times during the day.  The views of the nearby river were amazing and the mostly level hike was great on the body.  I also got to test my Brooks Cascadia trail shoes which are like pillows on my feet, I can’t wait to wear them again!!

On Sunday Tall Grandma (Thanks Mom!!) offered to watch our boys and Kerrie’s kiddo so they could have a play date while we ran.  We opted to run on the Orting trail, the best for a 3 person team.  I felt great from the start.  Kerrie and I chatted a lot with MM getting a few words in here and there.  I carried my handheld because I feel a cold coming on and had a very dry throat.  I was happy to have the water as we went.  And SCORE we ran the whole time.. this is big for me, since getting pregnant I have stopped at every run at least once for various reasons, so I was pumped to be able to run the whole 10K.  We averaged about 10:15 pace, conversational and comfortable, PERFECT!!  I love running with my husband, but I MISS my running friends like crazy so this was the best of both worlds.

 After the run I took a nice nap and RELAXED the rest of the day…  and for your viewing pleasure here is my 17 week belly picture.. The tank top says “Sweating for Two” made from decals that my talented friend sent me.. I love it and plan to wear it once volleyball starts again..

Pregnancy Week 17:
*My goal is to walk/run 10-15 miles a week as long as I can. 

Miles Run Pregnant: 142.7 total- 12.3 in week 16

Miles Walked Pregnant: 46 total- 11.3 in week 16

Current Craving: Chicken Pad Thai, Salads and Ice Cream

Current Aversion: Cooked meat

Excitement: 20 week ultrasound is scheduled for March 4th, if baby cooperates we will know the gender!!

Gripes: Dry skin along with breakouts

Purchases:  More maternity clothes... waiting to get items for baby until we know the gender.

GREAT week!!

Last week was a GREAT week for me.  Nothing out of the ordinary happened but overall I felt good and was able to fit in a workout every day.  It was rainy and cold but we didn’t let that stop us.  I am hoping to increase to the 2 mile route this week J

Monday: 1.7 miles lunch walk

Tuesday: 1.7 mile lunch walk where I picked up trash.  2.8 mile run/walk around the neighborhood.  I had some pain in my abdomen so opted to walk run and maintain my comfort level.

Wednesday: 1.7 mile lunch walk

Thursday: 1.7 mile lunch walk

Friday: 1.7 mile lunch walk

Saturday: 6.2 mile (10K) run with hubby on the Orting trail.  It was super foggy and around 36’ which was a bummer because the local weather had promised to be sunny and in the 50’s.  This was one of the best runs I have had in a long time, all systems were go and it felt effortless.  Just before our turn around we met Jill and Kerrie who were on a bike ride.  It was a nice break and Jill gave me a swig of water.  The return trip is slightly uphill so we slowed but our overall pace was 9:58 which made me super happy!!

Sunday: 2 mile family walk, followed by tossing rocks in the river.  We saw 2 bald Eagles and the boys were pretty good overall.  The hardest part is getting them to understand that they have to stay to the right to avoid getting hit by fast moving bikes.

 Total miles: 19.5- Darn Dailymile rounds up I thought I was at 20 miles!!

16 weeks along and feeling strong!!
