All good in the Tall Hood

 My Week and Weekend:

Amanda was in town for a wedding and we had 1 night to see her.. so I got a group of us together for dinner.  It was GREAT to see Amanda, and to have Jess and Tonia who were in town for HTC, as well as my local buddies, Chelsea, Kerrie and Zoe. I met all of these women via Blogging and could not imagine life without them!!!
I met all of these Women through Blogging and could not imagine life without them!
We had plans to go to the High School track but there was football practice so we went to the Junior High.  I wanted to see if Little Stud #1 could run a mile around the track but he wasn’t interested….so I strapped my Garmin to his wrist and let him run where he wanted….Up and down hills, around the soccer field… later I checked his wrist and he had gone over a mile..

Little Stud #1 has outgrown his bike…we went to a few yard sales with no luck.  I texted Grandma to see if she knew if Tall cousin had an old bike and she offered to buy LS#1 a NEW BIKE for an early birthday gift.  We met her at the store and he picked out a bike, helmet and gloves.. He LOVES his new bike, we have been letting him practice on the local tennis courts.  I am HOPEFUL that he catches on quickly so he can ride during our runs.  He is so darn CUTE!!!
The lovely Chelsea will be getting married end of September.  In case you didn’t know Chelsea and I met via Blogging, she introduced herself for the first time at the “Run Like a Mother” book signing I attended..  Since then we have become fast friends and I coached her to her first Half Marathon Finish Line.   Her bachelorette party in the city was this weekend and it was so FUN!!  Started with an amazing Cooking class- Look at this food, YUMMERS! This was followed by wine tasting and we finished the night with Pizza.. I rode with Kerrie and our parking garage closed at 11PM so we had to cut out early…but had a blast with the Bride-to-be

Fresh and Tasty
Getting my White on
Tall Grandma texted in the am that she would watch the Little Studs so Muscle Man thought we should test out the trail I learned about during the Rainier to Ruston relay.  We thought it was partially paved, it was barely paved and mostly dirt.  I was not feeling well when we started, probably from being out late and not eating/drinking the best.  The trail was basically single track so I let my hubby lead, he took the spider webs for me J  Trail running for me is much harder, I can really feel my stabilizer muscles working overtime.  I loved being out in nature and the trees provided great shade on a hot day.  The little town of Wilkeson is so cute, I know Muscle Man will want to come back soon!!
Clean Bottle Review Coming soon!!

Hope you all are doing well.. I still have a Product Review Post in the can COMING SOON!!  Includes the Clean Bottle Handheld shown above...

Feels GOOD to go FAST

Yesterday I was irritable and low on patience...not sure why, just an off day I guess.  I was looking forward to running a 10K that night with Muscle Man.  The temp was perfect just under 70' and overcast.  I felt AWESOME from the start, we didn't have a real time goal but I knew we could have a great run if we pushed it..
This is my not-so-distant future when our son will be taller than us :) check out those missing teeth
This is how the miles went:

1- 8:51- Not really thinking speed and LS#1 ran a quarter mile with us, LS#2 fell asleep almost instantly and was out the whole run..

3-8:33- Stopped half way to get a quick drink for us and LS#1

4-8:14- I pushed the boys for a bit in this stretch and was zooming..

5-8:29- Up the gradual hill

6-8:12- Flat, long stretch of paved trail, I pulled ahead a little

.2- 7:57- Kicking it to the Finish!!
It felt amazing to have a full run in the 8:00's my legs were tingling after the run. Our finish time was 52:36, which is a 10K PR for Muscle Man, and he pushed the stroller 80% of the time... I am off to find him a 10K race so he can kill it..

I forgot how good it feels to go FAST... Sweaty and done!!!

Berry Good Running

Last week we had a HEAT WAVE...well for us anyway it was over 90' for three days in a row.  Needless to say there was not much running going on.  We opted to stay in the air conditioned house.. When the weekend came we wanted to get out and get the legs pumping.

Saturday Morning:

Our neighborhood had a Community Yard sale, so we put the boys in the stroller and ran to see the sales.  We did not find much so we headed to the local track...FOOTBALL SEASON!!  UGH!  The beautiful high school track was busy so it was off to the clay dirt track to do some sprints.  Little Stud #1 did a few laps, he is getting good.  MM and I did a 400m relay with the two of us, man are we slow compared to those Olympians ;)

Sunday Morning:

It was misty and cool outside just under 60'...PERFECT!!  We hit the trail with 8-10 miles planned but I felt great right away and wanted to go for double digits.  The boys were strangely fussy right away and wanted snacks just 1.5 miles in.. I knew we would have to be creative and let them have breaks.  We stopped a few times to let them stretch, get Gu and so the boys could hmmm water the bushes :)  On the return trip we stopped for a good amount of time to pick Blackberries..

Tall Mom with fuzzy hair and no makeup :) Lovely... hehe

Such a perfect day!!!  Well besides the fussy kids...

Later that night Muscle Man made Blackberry Cobbler, so TASTY!!  The weekends seem to fly by and so has the Summer.  I spent most of my free time this weekend getting all of LS#1's school supplies and clothes purchased, he starts First Grade on September 5th..

Our next race is September 1st, my first ever 10 miler.. excited to check another race distance off the list.  How are you friends??

Cherish the Moments

I am Cherishing the Moments in life and Summer.... it is starting to get darker earlier and school is just 19 days away for LS#1... One thing I have realized this week is that I am a Fair Weather Runner.  I will run in a rain storm but over 90's and I am out, we have had a heat wave so there has not been much running this week.  We did get out on Monday for 5 miles..

And stopped mid-way to pick Blackberries.  LS#1 helped and loved eating them on the journey back.  LS#2 was asleep, as usual.  It was nice to take a little mid-run break.

The trail was pretty active that day with lots of Runners and bikers..

I volunteered as Course Marshall (aka Cheerleader) at the Matterhorn Madness 5K in Bonney Lake.  I got in some miles walking the course, I had to see the BIG HILL they were all talking about... yep it was a dousy..
The race was 3 loops so I got to cheer on the people a lot, which was AWESOME.  Hanging out in the woods, trying to avoid getting eaten by mosquitos.. GOOD TIMES!!  I will be volunteering more in the near future.. I loved it!!

This weekend we also made our way to the local track to play Soccer with the boys.  LS#1 is really athletic, it is fun to watch him light up when he scores a goal.
Will keep running as the weather allows and Blog when I can..
This is a reminder to Cherish the Moments...
because Life is what you make it..

Make is GREAT!!

The Highs and the Lows

Life can hand you extreme HIGHs times when you are filled with excitement, joy and happiness... With the highs come the LOWs, those points were your heart is heavy and you ask yourself "Why did this happen?"  I have been on this Roller Coaster and couldn't find the time to stop and Blog..

August 2nd marked our 9th Wedding Anniversary.  I LOVE being married and have tried over the years to make the day special.  this year I decided to take Thursday and Friday off to be with the family.  We had plans to go to a Baseball game with my work that night and my Mom would watch the boys the next night so we could have a date...

Then I looked on Facebook....a quick glance at my 2nd cousins status and I knew... My amazing Aunt Jean was now with the lord... I hoped that it wasn't true, but my cousin confirmed.  That night my sister and I cried and spent time with my Mom, I cant imagine the pain of losing a sister.  I wanted to help in some way....but there seemed to be nothing I could do..  My cousins were amazing when my Dad passed away.. I offered to create the slideshow for the memorial which will take place this week.

My Mom was sad but still offered to take the boys for the night the next day..  I was heavy hearted and somber at dinner, but put on a happy face as best I could.  Nice Seafood Dinner followed by a Movie and dessert at home.. Perfect Anniversary..

The next day since I was on vacation we decided to go for our annual photos where we got married, Point Defiance Rose Garden.  I love this tradition and look forward to it every year.  The boys were GREAT and put on cheesy smiles for me.  Here are just a couple of my favorites..

I had decided, sort of last minute, that I wanted to run the Tacoma Narrows Half Marathon.  My friend Sarah was in town from New York and I thought it would be amazing to have that experience together.  Plus it would continue my streak....4 Halfs in 4 consecutive months!!  The people at Fleet Feet and the RD for the race were AWESOME!!!  I cannot say enough good things about this race.  Well organized, relaxed, super energy and I got to run over this...

My Area Code is 253, so I was pretty excited to represent with my bib..
Sarah was not sure what to expect, she had recent knee injuries and had been traveling for a couple weeks making it hard to fit in runs.  I told her my sole purpose of being there was to run with her, no pressure..
Running over the bridge things were good, then we hit a Hill and I could tell my buddy was not doing well, so we incorporated some walking... Soon there was a loop section and I noticed one lady look at where she should go, and take a right instead cutting nearly 2 miles off of the course.  UGH I don't like cheaters!!!  We continued on, walking when we had to.  I knew that at my 6.25 Jill and Tiffany would be at the water stop so we planned to take a little break then.. Thankfully I over-hydrated that morning..

I loved seeing smiley Tiffany!!  Jill, Sarah and I went to High School together so this was a mini Reunion of sorts.. Although I look like a GIANT!!! Maybe I was up on the curb??  What a treat to have buddies at a water/Powergel stop..

Sarah's Dad was along the course checking in on us and I knew that she was a little tempted to go with him.  Her knee was hurting and her body was not doing what she wanted it to do.  At that point I said "We don't have to try to run anymore, lets walk and Finish the race."  She told her Dad, we snapped and picture and on we went.  It was a HOT day so walking was very pleasant...
I joked if it had been raining I may have left her ;)  We were coming up on Cheney Stadium where we got to walk around the outfield and see ourselves on the Jumbotron.. I had to snap a picture it was just too cool!!
After the stadium the course went around the outside of the whole parking lot, again I saw an older man in a Half Fanatics top cut the course... there were cones, chalk arrows, etc... he knew he was CHEATING!!  I just don't get people, do the course you signed up for.  The couple of cheaters were the only negatives for this race, the course support was amazing, I will be back for sure!!

Toward the end of the race we passed the Old Spaghetti Factory, which is one of the last memories I have of seeing my Aunt alive, I was moved to tears because I knew she was with me.  Later that night I would go to the viewing and cry with my family over her peaceful body.

I loved the time spent talking with my friend, the last time I saw her was at her wedding, her 1st anniversary is today.. She reflected on how the race was a lot like relationships.. Thing may not always go how you plan but if you keep moving together you will reach the Finish and we did..

Half Marathon #12- 3:12:45

I got home and showered to go to the viewing and noticed that ZoĆ« had changed her profile picture on Facebook to be a picture with her Dad...and so had her husband... It was either his Birthday or something bad had happened... My dear friend who lost her mom to a brain aneurism when she was a teenager had now lost her Father.  I started to cry immediately, having lost my Dad I knew the shock and pain she was in.  I wanted so badly to be there to hug her, to do anything....but what could I do?? She went with her sisters to Montana to get her Dad, Zoe posted about this on her Facebook page, please reach out with your condolences.. Kind words help, I cherished the Bloggy world when my Dad passed.
Life is precious and can be taken away at any time.  Hug the ones you love, take pictures, make a phone call...be sure that they know you love them.

That is all I have for now.. I am continuing to run with Muscle Man and the Little Studs and will check in when I can.. you can always find me on Facebook and Dailymile :)
