Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred Level 1 Review

This weekend it was chilly and windy outside, my family and I are just getting over being sick so Running outside was not an option. I wanted to get some cardio, in so I went to Target and bought Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred Fitness DVD. This DVD had been recommended to me by Kerrie, Alma and others on Facebook so I figured it was worth a try.

What you will need for Level 1?

LIGHT hand weights

Yoga Mat or soft surface

Shoes (You will need the support)

Energy

We started with Level 1, both Muscle Man and I thought Level 1 would be a easy... WOW WERE WE WRONG. Jillian is a MASTER!!

LIKES:
Constantly moving
Incorporating Arms and Legs in most exercises
Easy to follow
Heart rate pumping
20 minutes
Little equipment or space required
Feel the muscle working!!
The price I only spent $9.99 and it is even cheaper on Amazon..

DISLIKES:
Lunge Exercise was a bit long for one leg, would be better to alternate legs.
Lady with her hair down (personal pet peeve)
I felt WAY out of shape (hehe)
I am too sore to do it again :)

I am so SORE today and we did the DVD on Saturday. I love the feeling of being sore, it means that it really works!! I am a bit intimidated by Levels 2 and 3. I am still amazed that in 20 minutes I could get the results that would normally take 90++ minutes in the Gym. I think Muscle Man and I will do Level 1 again tonight and work our way up. Will keep you posted on the other levels...

Kick A$$ Jillian Michael's Quotes:

“I am doing the best I can given what I have today.”

“The past does not define, you the present does.”

“Why choose to fail when success is an option?”

“Get comfortable with being uncomfortable!”

“Selfish isn't a dirty word. It means we take care of ourselves and are able to give back.”

“You know when transformation happens? Right now. It’s a present activity. Who is the new you? Show me the new you.”

  • Have you had a REALLY GREAT workout lately? Tell me about it..

I have never stuck with doing the Shred regularly because it HURTS the next day. And the one after that, and so on. :) It's a great, fast workout! Nice job!!

I have been through the Shred twice. I get a little bored by Level 3. Once you get through that one, try the Ripped in 30. It is similar to the Shred but better. The strength circuits have 4 moves instead of 3. You do the moves for 30 seconds instead of a minute. There are 4 levels instead of 3.

I love Jillian videos! Good news, the more you do them, the less you hurt but every time I try a new one of hers, the first time is rough!!

I LOVE Jillian Michaels! I do the Ripped in 30 and it is definitely intense! I have done all 4 workouts but did not do it within a months time.. it took me alil while.. So I decided I was going to do the 30 day Challenge in March.. So far I am on level 2 and I have seen major improvements!! I love it!!

I didn't (couldn't!) do the 30 days when I got the DVD last year about this time. I only did level 3 once or maybe twice, holy cow it's hard!
I love Jillian, but it actually makes me feel sooooo much worse when she barks things like "I want you to feel like you are going to die!" How is that helpful??? Last time I did it, I did level one then level two in a row and I did it with the sound off and my music on. I liked it much better :)

Jillian kicks butt! This is a tough dvd. I have tried some of her others but this is by far my favorite. I made it to level 2 at one point but not on a consistant basis. Mostly, I just do level 1. Trust me, I know how pathetic that sounds. I am in serious need of STRENGTH!

I've managed to get through all the levels and have to say that for some reason, level 2 was harder than 3 to me. Now, when I go back to 30DS as I cycle through my videos I never do level 2 because I can't hang with all the planking!

That being said I really love her Banish Fat Boost Metabolism video. By far my favorite!

Have fun with it!

Sounds like a great workout! Love that you and hubby do it together!

Loved my w/o today! I decided I needed a short term goal. And, decided it would be doing 10 consecutive unassisted pull ups. Today I did 3 sets of 5 pull ups each during my weight routine ... on my way.

I thought JM was a bunch of hoky poky, but now that you've broken it down, I'm thinking this would be a really good strength or at least cross-training workout for me. AND the price is right!! Thanks for reviewing it in detail!

My really great workout was my 1st ever 10k distance run on Saturday afternoon. This after a huge brunch. Anyways, I was happy that I felt decent running the distance (despite ankle roll @ 5.68k) AND managed a target 7 min/km pace WITH hills! Would be looking forward to Sat's 10k race if I had run on that ankle on Sun as well....

Thanks for the review. My friend has been trying to get me to try it... she lacks workout credibility, you on the other hand are a rockstar. If you were sore, I am really in for it!

I tried yoga at one of those heated yoga studios for the first time today. It was a lot harder than I thought, although part of that I think was the heat. I'll definitely try it again.
