3 Things Thursday

1. I set out for 2012 with the best of intentions with my GOALS HERE. I need to reassess!! Thus far 2012 has not been my year for mileage, speed or anything resembling fitness or diet. I put a lot of pressure on myself and feel guilty when I miss a workout or eat tater tots from Sonic. I need Goals that are realistic and to find my fire again. I hate to admit it but burnout has hit me hard, coupled with illness and a busy busy schedule, not a great combo.. My priorities this year will be my family and finding my inspiration.

2. Tall Mom 1,000+++ Club. As much as I would LOVE to host this again this year I don't have the time to commit to hosting a club :( For those who were in the club last year, I have added a spreadsheet for 2012, please go in and add your name if you want to continue to track your miles there. This should not be a deterrent to those who are working to reach this AMAZING milestone!! Keep track of your miles and reach the goal!! I am hoping to get back to the CHALLENGE in 2013.

3. Wow this post is a downer so far...sorry about that. My next race is St. Paddys Day 5K in Tacoma on March 17th. I have not trained to race a 5K, but I will run hard and wear a fun St. Patty's day inspired outfit, including these Razzy Roo Socks and a matching Razzy Roo Headband.
This will be a fun race day with friends, and I am hoping it will give me the little jolt I need to get back in shape. Local readers-are you running this race? If so please let me know, would love to meet you and say Hi. I could use some LUCK, I figure it can't hurt to be decked out in Green on race day. I think it would be fun to bring my Tall Brother who is 6'9 and have him dress as the Jolly Green Giant...not sure he would go for it :)

  • 3 Months in to the new year, do you need to reassess your Resolutions?

  • Will you be racing on St. Patty's Day?

I'm just glad to know that you are ok! Sometimes life just takes off and by the time you get your feet on the ground it is much later! I'm racing the day after St. Patty's Day...trying to find a good outfit! I think the jolly green giant thing would be awesome!! Hang in there Mel! You still rock!!!! It will slow down eventually!!

Tall Brother and Tall Sister at St. Paddy's Day race? How cool would that be? I'll be there, but Alma and I are dressing in our UW shirts and black skirts, since we didn't wear them in Maui. Can't wait to see you.

Those socks are so cute! I am running the St. Patty's Dash in Seattle on the 17th. I still need to find a cute green outfit to wear. Good luck!

You know, I never ended up setting goals this year! I guess maybe I had an inkling that I just didn't know where this year would take me.

Re-assessing sounds like a good idea. Give yourself a break and find the HAPPINESS again!

Don't blame you for not hosting the +++ Club this year. Sometimes, something has to give.

I think keeping those goals updated is wonderful. It is always disheartening to not reach goals but I think it is worse to just ignore them. We set goals but life is in constant motion. Things changes. Kudos for changing your goals to fit your life today.

I love those socks!

I won't be racing on St P's day, but I'm doing the Shamrock 15k in PDX the day after. Up a giant hill, then back down the giant hill.

I was going to run the JBLM St. Patty's Day Race, but I'll just be recovering from wisdom teeth madness. Glad to see that you're doing what's best for you!

Looking forward to seeing you at the race! My friend and I have cute matching outfits, complete with Team Sparkle skirts!, and we are running the 10K. I hope the forecast clears up!

I feel like last year my BIG GOAL was the NYC Marathon, so this year is giving back to others through the run. I would be BURNT OUT if I was training for another race right now. LOVE the socks! Makes me want to do a St. Patty's day race!!!

Tater tots from Sonic? THAT is specific!

LOL. You'll find your groove again. Lots of transition right now, and being sick doesn't help.

Keep your chin up, buddy.

PS: You'll probably still beat me on the 17th. :P

I'm on track with my running goals, in that I wanted to be able to run a 10k by St. Patrick's Day and 12k by May, in time for the RMS Women's Run.

I think it's great to reassess and refine your resolutions if it's not working out. I'm sad that you are unable to host the 1000+ club this year, but as I probably won't make it this year, I'm ok waiting until 2013.

I am running St. Patrick's Day!! In fact, it is my goal race for my self-training for a 10k distance. I am so close now, I can run 9k, my furthest distance yet. So excited for this race!!

I'm racing St Patty's Day, not the same race though, I'm afraid. ;) Your's is too far for a day trip.

Love those socks!

i think everyone has burnout, i sure have had my fair share of it in regard to running. the way i got back into it was finding what i loved. which is speed, not distance. since then i'm loving it. that said, don't force yourself. it's okay to take breaks. you are perfect just the way you are :) hugs.

I hear you. I start feeling overwhelmed with internet and social media. I'm going on vacation for 2 weeks (out of the country) and I'm excited and also scared not being online. Isn't that sad? I will cut back on my online presence and start living the real life again :)

Those socks ROCK! Unfortunately I'm doing the Seattle race instead, only because a free bib fell into my lap! You will have a blast!
