Random Ramblings

This week I had...

  • Monday= Hip and legs were a bit sore from the Half Marathon on Sunday so I took a rest day= NO RUN
  • Tuesday= All day meeting at work followed by a Reception over an hour from my house= NO RUN
  • Wednesday= My Mom's Birthday yesterday, HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM! I had to run some last minute errands at lunch followed by Dinner just after work= NO RUN
What happens when I have not run for a few days???
  1. I get MOODY/GRUMPY/SNAPPY
  2. I feel GUILTY for not fitting in it, I could have gotten up early early but chose to get a few extra Z's.
  3. I worry that I am losing my fitness
  4. I want to make up the miles ASAP with a triple, or super long run
  5. To sum it up, it is NOT GOOD

In my GRUMPY GUS state I opted not to post yesterday for fear I would bring EVERYONE down... There have been a few things to pull me out of my funk.

1. NUUN HERE sent me and my Hood to Coast Teammates HERE a care package with some of the tasty new flavors. I have been meaning to try Strawberry Lemonade for some time so I was soooo excited. I am not a fan of Banana, so look for a Giveaway soon.

2. On my way to work I noticed a Tough looking guy mowing the grass on the side of the road, he had on a black hooded sweatshirt with the hood up, Manly right? As I drove past I read the back of the sweatshirt and it read... WAIT FOR IT.....

CUTIE PIE

AWWWWWWWW ;) This made me chuckle... wonder if he knew??

3. There is a Honey Bucket (Porta Potty) on top of a K-Mart in Kent. Not sure why but it is there. Who is up for a Roof top pit stop??

4. Reading Chelsea's Race Report HERE and all of Zoe's updates HERE.

5. Coming home to Muscle Man playing with Little Stud #1 in the backyard, our yard is small but not too small for a heated game of soccer where the fence and rock wall are the goals.

6. Having Dinner with my Mom, Sister, Nephew, Cousins and Aunt...RELAXING!!

7. Getting texts from Kerrie, Jess, Amanda and Tricia, just to check in... all FRIENDS I have "met" through Blogging.

8. Knowing that TODAY I have time to run!!!

  • What things make you a little GRUMPY?

  • How do you pull yourself out??

I have a couple fun Giveaways for the ladies coming up, so look for that...

The first semester of grad school, I was so overwhelmed finals week that I could not find any time to run. I went almost a week without a run. For me missing a run here and there, okay. A whole week? Um, watch out! I kept telling myself that it'd be over soon, and it was, and then life was okay. Haha. If I have the time, I talk to friends to get out of my slumps. They're so great! But I know how you feel! I loved your list, especially the hoodie one!!

Not running makes me grumpy, and the only fix is running. For me it's easier in the summer since I'm a teacher, but once the school year starts I struggle to run during the week and then feel like crap for not running. If only someone would invent a running pill...

I'm on day 3 of no running thanks to my peroneal tendon. I'm starting to get irritated! Hoping this doesn't sideline me for too long, marathon in 10wks makes my type A personality really freak out about altering my training schedule!
Going to lay out and work on the tan today....hoping that helps the grumpies go away!

Glad you had high points in your grumpy moments.

I am grumpy about all this heat! triple digits during the day do not make me eager for my run. And with my daughter in a Kids to College program all week I can't seem to squeeze in an a.m. run. This could be cause for serious grumpiness but I remind myself that I am the one choosing to run everyday. I could simply take a day off or do something else. No on is holding me to this but ME. That usually reminds me that I want to do it everyday even if conditions are not what I'd like. I want to keep my fitness up so I can "drop into" a race if the opportunity presents its self. And when those toughts aren't enough...lately a few popsicles shared with the kids and a lively game of squirt tag with the water guns does the trick.
Have a happier day today!

I felt the same way last week. stomach bug meant no running. I was all depressed "I'll never run the NYC marathon..." it was week 2 of training and I'm a cry baby. Monday morning I felt better and picked up where I left off. I've been fine ever since. Check out my blog kristinmcauliffe.blogspot.com I wrote a post about how to avoid what I call "runner's depression" yesterday!

Aww I love getting check in texts, I wish more of my friends would do this. I also wish I had more runner friends...that way when I am grumpy because I have missed runs they can understand.

Too much work makes me grumpy...Having a work/life balance makes me happy. :)

Cuddles with my bf and cats pull me out, a good run (or weight lift)...or just something simple like a HI text from a friend. :)

this WA weather is making me so grumpy! Lately the only thing making me feel better is working out, but I am not getting that in until late! So I am grumpy all day - work out and get a good nights sleep - so I guess that is a plus.

I finally ran today after a couple days off. Sometimes it SUCKS, but you must give your body some rest. :)

And your text with the "CUTIE PIE" hoodie made both ME and Trav laugh this morning. :)

Why is it that after a day or two of not running we convince ourselves that we no longer have our endurance... crazy. Not sure why we do that to ourselves, but I am exactly the same way.
