53 and cloudy that I can do!!! Looks like I better pack a poncho just in case.
Met with Tammy for our last Long Run. Our Goal was 10 miles at 8:30 pace or faster. It was pretty chilly at the start. I got my Moeben Sleeves but they are a little too big :( I need to find out if they will shrink up otherwise they may have to make a debut in a future race. I also tested another Royal Blue shirt I bought using my Fleet Feet bonus cash. Race day outfit is TBD but I am getting closer. Tammy and I were zooming and it felt great. We opted to go off trail and concur the HILLS for our "confidence." I was huffing and puffing but made it up keeping a solid pace. The halfway point came so fast, much faster than the 23 miles a few weeks ago. I spotted a Hummingbird which reminded me of my Grandma who passed in 07. Ahead I could see my trail buddies, we have been waving as we ran past for about a year now, they always have a smile.
When we finished the guys were standing there so I introduced myself and we chatted about Boston both John and Kurt(Kirk?) are running next week. John has run it before and this will be Kurt's first time. It was nice to talk about training and race plans. I hugged Tammy and went home for Date night!!!
Tall Grandma watched the boys so Muscle Man and I could go to a play and Dinner. The play/musical was HORRID which was a total bummer. We drove along the Tacoma Waterfront and ended at the Lobster Shop during Happy Hour...YUMMY FOOD and relaxing with my favorite person in the world.. PRICELESS!! SUNDAY:
Amy and I met at 8AM on the trail, there was a light drizzle and a couple guys with a food station set up. There was a bicycle group and they were support, they offered us food, we said no but thanked them for volunteering. Amy had been on vacation so we had some catching up to do. I dressed way to warm by the end both of us were bare armed. Amazing how fast 6 miles goes when you are used to doing 10-14. I felt like I could run all day, but I know I need to hold back. The Recovery runs this training cycle were the BEST! Sundays were my Zen Runs, where I took in the sights, chatted with friends and ENJOYED every step. I will incorporate this type of training in future cycles and I am super curious to see how the longer weekend miles play out on race day.
So there you have it 3 or 4 more runs left on my schedule and I am PUMPED!! Thank you all for joining me on this journey. Be sure to track #14576 next week!!
- How was your weekend??
