I grew

Welcome new Tall Mom Bloggy Pack Members!! Thanks for reading :)

Last week I was HONORED to be listed as #1 on Jake's (AKA Broken Hearted Runner) list of Best Running Blogs. I am not sure if the list is in any sort of order, but seeing my blog listed was a HUGE High Five. Thank you Jake!! Check out the Full List of Blogs HERE.
I have been looking for a new Doctor so at the recommendation of a friend I met the new Doc yesterday to establish care. She was FANTASTIC!! A Funny thing happened at the Doctor's Office.. I have a SECRET- I have never been measured as 6'0 Tall....GASP....I rounded up because 5'11 and 3/4 is a mouth full.. At Gonzaga on the Basketball roster I think they listed me as 6'1 or taller....I was not fooling anyone being the runt in the Division I Post block. Well yesterday for the first time in my Tall Life I was measured by someone taller than me, a Male Nurse who was about 6'2... and I GREW!!!

Tall Mom will no longer rounding up I am now officially 6'0 and 1/4
And I have allergies...good times.. HEHEHEHE... I texted Muscle Man to share the news and he said "All that running must be good for the spine." Funny guy..

I did not have time mid-day to run since I got to work late... I vowed to run when I got home. Little Stud #2 requested Pizza for his birthday dinner. We ate and I sat and relaxed. Went to Target to pick up a few things, saw Tall Grandma, went home and I sat. Time ticked away...

I thought about my friend Amy who ran 8.1 miles on her lunch hour+, a new distance PR for her. If she could do that, I could get up and put in 5 miles. I hit the wrong button and the treadmill zoomed to 7:20 pace...OUCH..

My groin ached...OOPS!! "Mommy are you OK." "Nope Mommy pulled something".. UGH, so I walked to warm up. Then gradually increased the speed. I watched The Biggest Loser but could not hear a thing over my loud clomping. Muscle Man did a chest work out and the Little Studs played Cars, a little family bonding, sort of. I ran the first 2 miles slow and kicked it up to goal Marathon pace the last 3 miles. It was tough, I am still not used to running a set speed on a little moving pad.

  • Goal Pace???? I really have no plan so far, what I do know is I will not be going for a Marathon PR at Boston. 3:45- 4 hour would be GREAT! Right now running FAST does not feel good on my knee, so I need to be careful.. the key goal is to get to the start line un-injured.

  • Random ??- What do you eat for Breakfast? I need something new, preferably easy to eat in the car. IDEAS WELCOME.

  • Check Out Windows Shopping Wednesday HERE.

HAPPY MID-WEEK!!

Hey Mel- You are definitely #1, by both quantitative and qualitative standards. You have an amazing blog and community, so you totally deserve that #1 ranking!

Careful of the wrong button on the treadmill, that can get you every time.

Jimmy Dean D-Lite breakfast sandwiches are delicious and portable! It's a quick spin in the microwave, and they're ready to go!

Your blog is fabulous!
I just found it a couple of months ago, but you have motivated me to finally get going and run a full marathon (next month).

For breakfast my favorites are Chobani greek yogurt (lots of protein and tastes pretty good) and Lavish oatmeal (the chocolate flavor is very decadent, but it has good nutritional values and the list of ingredients is short). Both of those are probably not so good in the car though.

Congratulations on growing!

Woohoo, congrats on growing!!
I posted a breakfast idea/recipe yesterday. I'm always looking for grab n go breakfast!

Ok, people either think my favorite breakfast sounds awesome or gross, and I am not sure it's the best car breakfast, but here goes...

I make one serving of plain old oatmeal and then mix in
-one full banana, chopped up
- a pile of blueberries (or other berry)
- a handful of raisins or chopped dates
- a handful of chopped walnuts
- a few (somedays more if we're being honest) chocolate chips

My hubby says it is no longer oatmeal when I am done with it, but it is well balanced, filling and gets a bunch of healthy stuff into you. :)

I'm 6'1" so I guess you could say I'm a tall mom too.
Breakfast of late is Special K with a sprinkling of Kashi. My gut can't handle 100% Kashi. And coffee, of course!

My breakfast is similar to Supermom's. Plain oats, microwaved with a handful of frozen cranberries. Once it's done, I add in cinnamon, brown sugar, and almonds/walnuts (which ever I have at home). I use a little less water than the recipe calls for, so it's plenty thick to eat in the car. :)

If I am on the go a balance bar works, my recent go-to BF is a whole grain english muffin with PB spread on it and then topped with bananas cut in circles. Yum.

Excellent on the growth, most people shrink as they age, maybe you are getting younger?!

Not surprised your #1 since you rock!!!! You have created this movement that has gotten hundreds of people pledging to get up and moving!!! No wonder you are standing tall...you have a lot to stand tall about!

My breakfasts have to be eaten in the car so it is a protein shake. It started as a green monster but then the blender woke up the house...not cool. Now it is just a scoop of protein and cranberry juice.

Oatmeal for breakfast with apple cubes in it!! Mmmm.....

And guess what!? i'm not really 5'10 unless I grew too). I've always been 5'9 and 3/4, also a mouth full. So 5'10 is easier. =)

I don't eat breakfast during the week. The time between waking up and leaving for work is about 10 minutes for me, and my stomach doesn't adjust to waking up very easily.

Tall Family bonding, how funny.
Let's hear it for tall girls! I really hope Ali gets to be a true 6'0", not just a fake one in the basketball program like me.

I love your window shopping Wednesdays :)!

my go to breakfast is a fruit smoothie: frozen fruit, fresh fruit, spinach, and soy milk. I get the frozen fruit ready the night before so it takes me just a few minutes to blend in the AM. also, i drink it in the car on the way to work- easy peasy :)!

Congrats for being voted blog#1!! :) My breakfast is a nutella sandwich, perfect for the car :)

You totally deserve the #1 ranking. Whatever you're eating for breakfast, it is working, I mean you greew half an inch!!

I like Luna Blueberry Bliss bars or the Almond ones. Also a fav, PB with sliced bananas on toast!

Yeah for reaching 6'0"!!!!

As for breakfast, I think you are pretty much limited to making your own power/lara bars, having something pre-packaged or a shake smoothie. This is my favourite shake, it has the oatmeal, the fruit and the protein - it's not for everyone but I like it.

Make a regular amount of oatmeal, put it in the blender with 1/2c milk, wheat germ, a banana, a raw egg, brown sugar to taste. Blend.

Raw egg is gross to some, but you won't even notice it, and it is warm and yummy!

Fiber One pop tarts have been the on the go item here lately plus the Trop 50 Orange Juice.

I am a "bar" kinda girl. Fiber one pars, Special K bars etc..

I would love to do oatmeal every morning but there is not enough time and I can not eat it in the car.

I eat a bagel thin with fat free cream cheese and a slice of turkey bacon in the car on the way to work every morning. I stick it in a napkin and am good to go. I am NOT a morning person so don't want to take the time to eat at home when I have a 30 minute plus drive to work!

I want to be taller!!
I eat a banana and a protein shake for breakfast.

I saw you on there and thought "Cool! I 'know' her!" :) Nice work. And breakfast is tough for me. I always want something warm after a run, but oatmeal doesn't always sounds appealing and you certainly can't eat that on the road!

congrats for being on the list!!! i always round up too, i last measured 5'11'' 1/2, but i just like to say 6ft, makes me feel cooler LOL!!

Yay for growing!! I would love to gain about 2inchs.
I am pretty boring when it comes to breakfast. I have had Oatmeal every morning for about 3 years. It's fast and easy. Sometimes I will cook some egg whites and mix it in with the oatmeal...sounds gross but it is actually pretty good.

Luna Bars! So yummy and they keep me full. Not the greatest for 'clean' eating, but they get the job done!

Congratulations on your well-deserved spot!
I have a new found love for maple almond butter. That on whole wheat with a banana is a yummy start to any day!

Congrats on the new height =) I think Muscle Man might be on to something...

I mix a cup of Kashi Go Lean cereal with 6 ounces of light yogurt and a cup of frozen berries. Then I let it chill in the fridge over night, and it's like breakfast cake in the morning. Mmmmmm... breakfast cake. Something a bit more portable... one of those whole wheat 100-calorie flatbreads with almond butter. Mmmmm... almond butter...

Ahhh, hope your knee is feeling better soon!! No fun!
Breakfast... greek yogurt with granola. I eat it in the car on the way to drop my boys at school. Love!

My fave breakfast is whole wheat cinnamon toast spread with a little bit of greek yogurt mixed with some honey and walnuts (if i have time, i add a few slices of apples or pears on top). it's delish and keeps me satisfied until lunch. i have a 45 min. commute in the morning and have to be at work by 7 a.m. (i'm a teacher) so i always eat this in the car. the best thing is that i make the greek yogurt mix in a big batch and have it ready to go for several days.
