High Five Friday

THE BEST LAID PLANS......are made to be broken. Training Day #2 for Boston and WHAM!! I thought hmmmm a Chicken Burrito in the cafeteria looks pretty good, nice green soft tortilla, etc.. Well they should have labeled it "Gut Bomb" because I felt ill the minute I tossed the foil wrapper. Pepto, milk, Aleve, nothing would make the tummy cramping go away...so the 7 miler on plan has been pushed to today... which means that I will run Fri, Sat and Sunday to get in my miles for the Week... OOPS!! I prefer rest days and only run 4 days a week, but I will MAKE IT WORK..

  • If there is one thing I have learned in Marathon training it is to be FLEXIBLE and fit in the miles when I can. Stressing about a missed run only takes the fun away from the journey. Don't stress!! Illness, time commitments, injuries, etc... all will happen, finding ways to keep up your fitness level during those STRESS times is what will keep you on track.
This weekend is JAM PACKED.. Tonight dinner with Jilly HERE and her family. Tomorrow AM 12 Mile run with Tammy, afternoon Seahawks game with the Tall family, and PM Goodbye party for our good friend Tom serving in the Coast Guard reserves.. Sunday, short run in the AM and Baby shower in the afternoon.. 2011 is in FULL FORCE FOLKS!!

My high 5?? swimming all week instead of crying about NOT running ( I tweaked my knee).

GUT BOMB? we have a sandwhich shop here that sells one sandwhich called just that, a GUT BOMB-it's SO big that if you eat the whole thing in one sitting, it's free.

Tomorrow I am running my second half marathon.

I am proud, because I never thought I would be running one just 9 months after my son was born. Especially since I hadn't ran since I was about 4 months pregnant. However, I am bummed that I will running at a slower pace that I would like. But it is for a good reason.....my sister-in-law is doing her first half with me tomorrow.

I'll be running everyday from Saturday until next Friday. J's little bro is getting married next weekend and I have to get my long run in some time before we leave. I feel you on the need to be flexible.

Heehee. I laughed when I read the "flexible" part. We have been watching The Incredible again. Mr Incredible and ElastiGirl both say that line to one another. heehee But in running flexiblity will keep you from moping a day away when plans go awry!

Thanks for the HIGH 5 Mel! Coach and I ran the Vegas Strip for an easy 3 miles this morning and are set for tomorrow!

High Five Moment: Running 5K while pushing my two girls in the double jogger AND chasing my son on his bike. The high five...the 5K was on the air force base and we totally skunked The Boys in Blue! YAY! Missed a PR by one lousy minute...we will do it again!

This post could not have come at a better time. I have been trying to beat this bronchitis for 2 weeks now. I had a big 7 mile speedwork run on the schedule for today. Made it 2.25 miles before I had to stop. I'm getting so upset. Thanks for reminding me that training plans are not written in stone.

I rocked out 8.1 miles today! I didn't have the best week under the sun, but I felt sooo much better after a good ol' run. Currently my highest mileage :)

Love the new term - gut bomb! I had one too today, but mine was a banana! Now I have to drag my butt out in the dark on a cold winter Saturday morning. sighh.

My high 5? I completed my first marathon!!! I did the WDW Marathon on 1/9. A good start to 1000 miles in 2011.
