High Five Friday- Congrats 80 Milers

Morning and HIGH FIVE to Friday. why is it that short weeks always feel long?? Weird!! Anyhow, I am EXCITED to do a long run with my Fleet Feet training buddies. Jana and I plan to do 16 while the other girls are doing 22. I could probably bust out 22, but it really is not worth getting injured. Note to self: MEL BE STRONG AND STOP AT 16!!

I have had some slight knee pain and tiredness this week so I have been taking it easy. The nice part about running for fun?? I don't have to stress if I miss a day. The other nice part?? I MISS IT!! All of you with Marathons in the next few weeks, I have serious ENVY... But that was the whole point.. After my MANIAC 3 Marathons in 3 months, including a BQ performance, I was BURNT OUT! I needed this time to just RUN with no pressure.. And wow oh wow has it worked!! I have done pretty well at keeping my base mileage up with 20-35 miles per week, but I have not been killing myself. With all that has happened in LIFE the past month it has proved to be a blessing that I am not in Marathon training.

WOW, that's a lot of miles logged! Way to go, everybody!

We're playing in a mud volleyball tournament tomorrow, and then I'm riding with friends in the Capital City Century in Springfield, IL, on Sunday. Sooo excited for the weekend...and hoping that my running legs can help make up for the fact that I haven't been on my bike in a month. :-/

I'm giving myself a high five in anticipation of running my FIRST Marathon on Sunday!!!!

Yay for everybody's miles! Coach got over 100 when you add in the bike which is about all he could do in August with his foot injury!

Stacie and I will be doing our first Tri on Saturday and we will be needing many high-fives for that!

I have no idea how you keep up with your life and are able to put together posts like this...you are awesome!! I'm thinking I need a marathon training break too but I'm only on 2nd marathon. you maniacs are crazy!! :)

First run post-injury. I would've given a high-five to the high-schooler at the bus stop this morning if he would've looked up from his phone.

Isn't it funny how things always work out for a reason? i.e. not having to train for a key race while dealing with all your family issues. :)

Good luck on your 16, stay true to yourself and just enjoy! I'm doing a 10 mile race on Sunday - it's my first in that distance so an instant PR!
Hugs to you buddy!

Congrats to all the 80+ mile runners!! Good job, everyone! Thanks for organizing us and keeping us motivated, Mel.

Congrats to all the 80+ runners! I hit 121 in August - surprised myself with that:) Sorry that I didn't get it onto the tracking sheet; back to school has been crazy!

Yes, Mel, stay strong with your 16 miles.

My high 5 is from Monday's race when I got pushed to the ground at the start line (seriously! I have the bruises to prove it) and still recovered to a speedy finish!

I missed your post where you challenged everyone to run 80 miles in August so I did not sign up for it. Then I noticed you commenting about it and without even trying I was at 79 by the end of August. If I was on top of my game I would have hit 80 for sure!

Hi. I'm new to your blog. I'm not sure how I got here but I'm glad I did. I know I'm totally late but I'm going to join your 1000+++ even if it's unofficially. I ran 106.7 miles in Aug and my 2010 goal has changed from 500 to 1000. When I set a 500 mile goal my husband said it should be 1000. He was sure I would run 500 before mid year.

Here's a link to how I've kept track 1000 Miles

congrats to everyone!!!

Sorry, I must have missed that I was supposed to email. Bag 1000+++ member!!!

August total was 217.26 - highest ever!!!

I only hit 64.9 but I did accomplish the Ragnar Relay Great River August 20-21 then I've been out injured since so I didn't hit 80 but I did good considering. :)

Becky said...

Hi Mel, I did 112 in the month of August and forgot to email you...
