I Tall Mom Take you Muscle Man

I did not run ALL WEEK!! This was an unplanned rest but I KNOW that my body needed it. I have been training hard since hmmmm it was snowing...and before. Ran 3 Marathons, qualified for Boston, and kept on running.. I really would like to get a Half Marathon PR in the months to come and I will get back on track... but this week I took a BREAK..

This morning Muscle Man and I ran 2.5 miles without the Little Studs and it was really nice. We had a relaxing and wonderful Anniversary Weekend while the boys were with the Grandparents. We went to a musical, made a Lobster dinner at home, and spent quality time together. On August 2, 2003 I married my best friend and every day since has been such a BLESSING..

This is a Running blog so how does this connect??? Muscle Man is my key supporter in my Running life. We have 2 kids, which makes every day an unexpected adventure. I KNOW that he would rather have me there on Saturday mornings to help get our boys dressed and fed... but he has NEVER complained about my running. Running is a part of our family, a part essential to my health and well-being. Does he LOVE racing in matching Red outfits? I highly doubt it.. But will he do it to make me happy? You better believe it!!

So I could ramble on but Muscle Man is upstairs lifting and I KNOW that he likes me to lift with him.. Well not really with him, I am a weakling in the weight room. But I am off to be with him. Doing my part to keep us CONNECTED. 7 years of pure BLISS!!

  • What does your significant other do for you that makes you HAPPY?
  • What can do you do to return the favor?

Anthony is training with me for a half marathon. I need to support him in his weight lifting after we're done with the half. He really loves to lift, too.

Count your blessings every day!!!! I know that you do - but this is just a little reminder. ;-)

You two looked delightful on your wedding day.

Beautiful photo! My hubs lets me have Saturday mornings for my long runs...as well as work hard so that I can stay home with the kids. In return I try to be supportive, make him laugh, and keep him in clean tshirts and boxer shorts. : )

Beautiful picture! Happy Anniversary!

My hubby runs with me (sorta..he's faster!) and always supports me in my running journey. On days I feel I cannot make a run he is right there with tons of encouragement and telling me that I can.

My husband takes over for me every time I'm out running. But most importantly, during my long runs on Sundays. He gets our son up, dressed, and fed, he cleans the house, starts laundry, and has mostly everything taken care of by the time I return home!

In turn, I try to take care of everything I can while I'm here, and support him in his new running journey!

By the way, I recently found your blog and love it. I am also a 6' tall mom with size 10's. :)

Yay to all your happiness! Its hard work to make a relationship work and you are obviously doing so well. I love being married to my best friend so it warms my heart to read when others have done the same.
Happy anniversary to you both :)

Happy Anniversary!
My boyfriend isn't a runner. But he gets me pancakes when I am almost finished with my long runs and he got me a Garmin for my birthday last year. He also listens to me talking incessantly about running and running blogs and races.

Congrats on seven years of marriage. I remember training for my first marathon when my husband and I were engaged. He would meet me at spots along my training runs with water and Gu. He still comes to all my races!

(BTDUB--a week off here and there can be really nice!)

Happy Anniversary, Mel and Muscle Man!

My S.O. looks after all of my racing needs. He isn't a morning person at all so getting up at 5:30 to get to a race is a big deal for him. He looks after my bike all of the time so it's ready to go when I need it.

Like you, my family is there for me in my running ventures; I couldn't do it without their support.

Ahh love this post. That is the same exact day we were married! Too funny, your wedding picture reminds of ours 7 years ago (very young looking:)). Dave(my husband) and I just completed our first triathlon together. We have 2 boys (3 and 1) so it was not easy training together but we did it and most of the time that meant the boys were in a jogging stroller running with us or being pulled in a bike trailer. Happy Anniversary. You are an inspiration!

Congratulations on seven years! My husband keeps my car filled with gas so I don't have to do it. He also makes breakfast on the weekends. The best thing he does is not complain when the house is messy!

So sweet, happy anniversary!

My hubs is my main running supporter as well, I've even roped him into running this marathon with me. :)And HE always pushes the jogger on our runs.

Yippeeee for seven years! I love reading about your great give and take. My husband loves that I have now gotten into working out with him because I no longer raise an eyebrow about long runs, spending money on races and gear, or having a smelly room! The thing he likes best about us running together is watching my ponytail bounce, he thinks its SO cute!

Congrats on your anniversary!

My hubs has always been extremely supportive when it comes to running. He even started running himself and has completed many 5ks. He especially likes to run at a local track. He'll bring the girls there with their bikes. Since it is the summer and I'm off ,I'll go out and do my miles and I'll meet them at the track. He then runs home, which is about another 4 miles.I know he enjoys this because not only has he started to build miles but most importantly he's healthier.

What a beautiful post ... and picture! My husband is so supportive of my running and everything I choose to do. He's my biggest champion and I pray that he feels just as loved as I do!

Brian and I really try to do things together - He really makes the effort to run (even though he hates it) and we do races together. I really enjoy going hiking with him and being outdoors. I have even considered taking up golf so we could do that together. I think its important to have activities that you can do together and also things that you do separately.

Happy Anniversary!

The hubby is not a morning person but he gets up early with the boys when I have to go running. I come home to a pancakes or french toast, which is always a plus.
I support his woodworking projects (apparently we don't know how to pick inexpensive hobbies)

Happy Anniversary! Love the photo. My husband recently got a new bike so we're starting to do some riding together and I'm totally loving it! Now if only I could get him into running.... :-)

i can't even begin to describe how supportive my husband is. I'll just say i'm beyond lucky and leave it at that.

My husband is also a key supporter in my running journey. He opened the door to the running world and sort of shoved me through it pushing and screaming. But I am thankful to him for getting me into it, and I am thankful for him slowing his pace to not leave me behind as we train for our first half marathon! I am thankful for the gentle but firm pushing me to my limits to make me better.

Congrats on the anniversary; our seven year is next month! =o)

My husband lets me run "for a living." He's supported me staying home with our kiddo and even now that he's a big 1st grader. I get to sleep in and still get my miles. I'm a spoiled brat.
My husband comes to every race and often trails the course to offer aid.
I know I couldn't do any of my running without his support.
We just had our 8th anniversary...just a summer ahead of you two.
Congrats!

Happy anniversary!

My husband supports us and is totally understanding of me using all my kid free time to run, even if that means the errands don't get done. Together, we search out new brewpubs and breweries to check out when we travel.

You are an example of how a marriage/relationship is supposed to be. I pray you both have many many more years to support and encourage each other. Your boys have a great example to follow.
