Creative title eh?? I have been in RELAX mode all weekend so I am TRYING to get myself moving. BUSY BUSY BUSY at work...

After taking a week off from running I was feeling GUILTY so I wanted to hit double digits. I sent out a Facebook buddy plea, but alas no one could join me for a 10 miler. So I headed to my favorite trail hoping that the good location would help me along.. I started out FAST and it felt amazing, I want to get 5K ready ASAP. I passed by people on very strange standing up 3 wheeled bikes, it looked like a WORKOUT!

I started to get tired, like my whole body had been zapped. I had run a Marathon 9 days earlier, maybe that was it? I was beating myself up inside and TRYING to go FAST! I wore my arm sleeves and dropped them at my car as I went past, the weather has been cool in WA. Back on the trail I was gaining on 3 kiddos on bikes, they looked back as me as I got closer. The taller girl talked to the little guy and they both looked back at me. Then like a bullet they hit the pedals, guess they did not want to get passed by an OLD lady on foot. I SMILED love the competitive spirit!!

10 miles did not seem possible, so I turned letting 7 be enough for the day. I am disappointed but I do not feel like pushing past exhaustion, that is when injuries happen.
And what was Muscle Man doing while I was running?
Finishing our Patio, which I LOVE!!! He used pavers and did an amazing job. It is so nice to have a finished back yard.
  • HAPPY TUESDAY that feels like Monday!

Wow, I'd kill for your grass. It looks great! We've been struggling trying to get a decent yard established since building this house 3 years ago. It's gettin' there!

Yeah -- i'm first! Congrats on getting out there and doing it! Don't feel bad about cutting it short. You got out there and did it ... all by yourself at that!

Cutting it short is much better than hitting the alarm and not going at all! So, way to go!

Nice patio!

Cutting it short is smart instead of pushing yourself too hard. Good run :)

I'd say it's definitely normal to be feeling some fatigue! You made the smart choice. And 7 miles is a decent run! Too funny about the kids on bikes.

And YAY Muscle Man for finishing the patio. Wish I was there to join you for a glass of vino out there. ;)

I wish I could have been there for you but that whole opposite coast thing. ;-)

7 is a great run! You'll get those 3 miles later, no sweat.

And who wouldn't want to come home early with hubby working on creating a relaxing backyard to chill together in!?!

Better to have 7 than none, right? I may have to add you on my Facebook. Sometimes I solicit for virtual running friends to do a long run.
Wow! What an awesome job Muscle Man did with the patio. You gotto post a finish picture when it all gets completely done.
Have a good running week ahead.

Smart decision to listen to your body. There will be plenty of days to run 10's - and a 7 mile run is a respectable mileage.
Love the pavers.

I want more pictures of the patio!

This totally was a Monday feeling type of day!

I think running 7 miles after doing a marathon a little over a week ago is awesome! Don't be so hard on yourself! You need to let you body recover from the marathon and then you'll be back at in full force! :)

first of all AWESOME that muscle man saw eclipse with you!!! did he read the books??/ i can't wait to see it. i have to admit, against all reason, i like tom cruise. lol. oh sigh.

GO 5K!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i have one scheduled for as soon as i'm running again to get a baseline :) and then i'll go from there. i'm really hoping i can run pain free. we will see.

xoxo!! oh and don't worry too much about the big mileage right now!!! you have so much time to take before beginning to tackle BOSTON training!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, your recovery runs are longer than my long runs! And a few days later, I;m still recovering....lol Then again, I'm from the other Washington (DC) where we're having triple digit temps so that probably has something to do with it!
