National Running Day ANNOUNCEMENT

Hello from RAINY Seattle and Welcome new Bloggy pack members. UGH will this rain ever stop???

On Memorial day I had a rainy 20 mile run with my buddy Corie and her husband Ironman Jon. The first 16 were spent with Corie chatting and trying to keep our HEAVY legs moving. The last 4 were solo with Jon who will also be my partner for the Green River Marathon this Saturday. If you are keeping track that means I will have run 46 miles in 2 runs this week, if I add 4 miles that will be 50 miles this week or 14 will be 60. WOWZERS!!! Crazy miles to take me into TAPER!!!

Jon is certified in many fitness related activities. He inspired me to take my running to the next step. Although I have not ironed out all the details yet....

ANNOUNCEMENT:

Tall Mom will become a CERTIFIED RUNNING COACH!!! After June 26th I will not be putting in Marathon miles, leaving time for weight training, speedwork and learning more about our amazing sport. I am hoping to become a certified coach before 2010 comes to a close. If you are a Coach and have any advice on the best way to go about this I would LOVE LOVE to hear from you..

  • Did you know that today is National Running day? What is National Running day??

National Running Day is a national initiative of the major organizations within the running industry to join forces in an unprecedented unified effort to nationally promote running as a healthy, easy, and accessible form of exercise. The second annual National Running Day will be Wednesday, June 2. From New York to San Diego, the day will celebrate the benefits of running as part of a healthy and active lifestyle aimed at combating some of today’s most pressing health issues. You can participate in National Running Day anywhere—you don’t have to be in one of the cities hosting events to take part. At the least, all it takes is to wear your running shoes throughout the day, go for a run, and invite a friend to join you. So, what do you think? Ready to get out and run?
  • It is RAINING buckets here but I still plan to get in a 3-5 mile run after work. What is your plan for National Running Day??
  • Are you new to Running? If so the National Running day website has some GREAT Tips to get you started, just click HERE.

If you are keeping track you know that this is Tall Mom post 495. WHAT?? Wow... Hmmmm... What will 500 bring? STAY TUNED!!

HAPPY WEDNESDAY!

You will make a great coach! Maybe a nicer Jillian... Can I see a show in your future? ...(if you saw Jillian's new show 'Losing it...' you'd know she needs a replacement!)

I was signed up for a certification class in May but with the new house and maybe move situation, I had to put it on hold. Maybe this fall after school starts back up. Now I will be able to learn from you!

We are having (still) a mega heat wave! Maybe thunderstorms this evening but it's hit or miss chances. So I will be doing at least 10 (then swimming) today maybe 13 if it cools off a little.

Can't wait to see what 500 brings!

I just took the certification through RRCA. Are you going through them? I still need to pass the test and do CPR First Aid, but I thought it was a good program. Good luck!

How exciting that you are going to be a running coach! I want a running coach!
I plan to run today! My goal is to do between 4-6 but I am going to wait and see how much time I have and how I feel since I am still trying to get over some sinus/cold thing. I ran intervals last night so I want to do a good solid run tonight.
Happy running!!

I'm certified with RRCA. It's a good program, lots to learn during the training and a reputable background. I fully recommend that.
