Nathan Handheld Giveaway

If you are keeping track this is Giveaway #3 in the 500 post week of Giveaways. You still have time to enter the Scape Suncreen Giveaway HERE and Ultimate Runner Giveaway HERE.

I just got back from a 7 mile run. Before I left I tucked our mailbox key in my spandex. Our mailbox is about .25 roundtrip so I planned to swing past on my way home. I will tell you more about the run tomorrow... but I have to tell you the BEST part. When I got to the mailbox there were two bright envelopes waiting. Bloggy buddy Marlene HERE had mailed my family a house warming card and a birthday card for me. WHAT A FUN SURPRISE!! And very ironic that I would get card from my running buddy just after a run. Thanks Marlene!! In less than 2 weeks and she will be a Tall Mom house guest :) On to the Giveaway... Another Ironic thing is that Marlene just did a review of the Giveaway item....

The folks at Nathan are worried about you, with the summer heat they want you to stay HYDRATED. So they were kind enough to host this Giveaway..

WHAT WILL YOU WIN?

Nathan Quickdraw plus in PINK!!
Read about it HERE. This awesome bottle holds 22 oz, has zippered pocket with key clip and a comfortable strap. With any Nathan product you know it will be high quality, durable and GREAT on the RUN.

Hydration: I drink plenty of water BEFORE the run and then carry water with me

I like the Nathan belts, but I prefer to carry my water - just am not a fan of running with a belt. I would love to have a Nathan handheld!

I try to stay hydrated by drinking lots of water everyday, not just on running days. The day before a long run though I make sure to drink up. I always carry water on runs - I've been caught without it before - that was not a good one!

I just make myself keep a bottle of water with me at all times during the day. It's like my purse in the summer. As far as summer running hydration options, I'm clueless. Maybe I'll win a handheld and then problem solved!

Will include in my blog post this evening! Love you Tall Mom!

I have the Nathan shadow pack which is great for the essentials but would LOVE to try a handheld since the shadow pack does not hold bottles. I would also be interested in finding out more about the Mutation Series hydration belt.

I live in the hot and humid south so staying hydrated during the summer can be a challenge! I always try to keep my water bottle/glass filled and with me and have a goal of "x" ounces depending on my activity level. I also try limit my caffeine intake to "one caffeinated beverage" a day since too much caffeine can make you dehydrated.

Staying hydrated... carry the water bottle everywhere. And fill up often.

The penguin sports wash would be a product I'd want to try. Anything to get rid of the stink

Christina said...

I drink water as soon as waking up and try and drink water with each meal. Naturally I also take water on my runs.

I would really like to try the Quickdraw Elite. My long runs are starting to be even longer and hotter, so I need a lot of H2O (no place with water on my route)

Alinda said...

I already have the Quickdraw Plus and love it. I have not found anything I like better so far. There are no water stops on my 12 mile route so I usually fill the bottle and try to pace myself. I do have to find a plan B though, as the weather is getting warmer...

I posted your giveaway on my sidebar...

so I looked around on the website and I honestly like the Quickdraw plus in PINK the best. I was hoping that their music player holders were water-resistant, but no luck there!! Boo. I think the pocket on the bottle would be a perfect size to hold my inhaler too, thus freeing up my carrying packet.

I followed the new Blog!

I think the best way to stay hydrated during the summer is to hydrate BEFORE your runs rather then trying to drink a ton of water during. Sure, we should all hydrate while we work out, but make sure that you are hydrated going into your workout as well.

Looked around the Nathan site and I'd love to try a Nathan hand held. I'm currently using a waist belt (not Nathan) but haven't decided if I like it.

I'd love to have the handheld water bottle. Just got a belt for longer runs but that would be great for shorter ones!

Best way for me to stay hydrated during the summer is to always have my water bottle around and be drinking from it even if I have to force it sometimes because I get so dehydrated in the afternoons. When I get too hot ice water is the only thing that works to quench my thirst and cool my body off. I also love coconut water.

Wow, I don't know how I missed this giveaway until now. I want one of these so badly!

Nathan has a ton of super cool products. I'm especially interested in their reflective gear. A must for early morning winter runs out here in the Pac NW as I'm sure you know. ;)

I carry a water bottle with me everywhere I go and am constantly refilling it. I also leave a glass out in the kitchen so that every time I go in there I remember to get a drink. (This helps cut down on snacking too.)

I have donated to your Marathon for the Cure.

I am a fan of the small Nathan Sprint handhelds but am browsing their site for something better for longer runs. The Sprint is excellent for short runs and races, but I'm thinking a couple of Quickdraw Elites or one of the women's race vests would be a better option when I want to go further, especially on trails where you can't detour to a shop or find a water fountain en route.

Thanks

Hmm, a hydration tip? Not sure if this is really a tip but pondering about whether to go for double hand helds or a race vest had me thinking that I would probably prefer the hand held route because it's more of a constant reminder to drink on the run if the water is there and convenient. Also, I think it's useful to be able to immediately see how much liquid you are, or aren't, consuming on the run. Good to be aware of your intake and make sure you're taking on enough, or equally, not guzzling too much in too short a time.

Finally, I just Tweeted about this great giveaway too.
