Test Lab Tuesday

Today is the day I dedicate to all things I review...

Living, Eating and Running....

  • LIVING:
Travel Mug:
Tall Mom is a Coffee Addict. With 2 kids, full time job and a hour commute each way, my daily jolt is my savior. Thankfully I have found a barista who only charges $2.50 for my morning non-fat Vanilla Latte. This year one of my goals is to reduce my environmental footprint. I bought a pretty pink travel mug and have used it nearly every day this month. That is over 20 paper cups and plastic lids saved!!! Yes, I do miss the warmth of the cup in my hands. And Yes, it can be a pain to remember to clean the cup, and take it in and out of my car. But it has become a habit and one that can make a big impact. Some baristas will even offer a discount for using a travel mug. If you love your daily java try supping it from a Travel mug :)

  • EATING (Drinking):
Emergen-C:
I am not sure what is up with my immune system, but I seem to catch EVERYTHING!! This week I have a plugged nose and scratchy throat. Tall Grandma (my mom) taught me about Emergen-C. The small packet sold at most stores packs a Vitamin punch!! You can add it to a water bottle for an energy boost, be sure to take a few sips first because it is fizzy!! Yesterday I tried the cranberry flavor in a mug of hot water and YUM!! This may not help me kick this cold any faster, but it cant hurt.

  • RUNNING:

Brooks Motion Jacket HERE:
The wonderful people at Brooks sent me a purple motion jacket for free to test. I was soooo excited to open the package from Brooks, there will be more items in Test Lab Tuesdays in the weeks to come.

What Brooks says:
Updated this season, this popular quilted-look jacket remains a moisture-moving must-have for fall fun and fitness. A hit with active women on the run, it moves moisture away from skin, offers great range of motion, and has a new ribbed collar and waistband for added comfort.
  • Fabric: Body: Quilted Motion (Top: 86% polyester/14% spandex with DWR; Fill: 100% polyester; Back: 100% polyester); Side Panels: Vapor-Dry² (93% moisture transfer polyester/7% spandex)
  • Fit: Semi-fittedFeatures &
  • Benefits:
    Weather-resistant, moisture-transfer fabric
    Vapor-Dry² stretch side panels
    Secure side pockets for key/I.D.
Moisture-proof inner pocket for MP3 or cell phone
Full front zip with inner storm guard and zipper garage
Tall Mom Thoughts:
I wore this jacket on an 11 mile training run HERE. I don't usually test gear on long runs, but I know with Brooks the quality is good!! It was drizzly raining and this jacket kept me dry and comfortable. You could see the water wicking away from the fabric. I wore a tank under the jacket because it is WARM. For those of you in colder climates wear this jacket paired with a base layer, you would be toasty. This jacket is true to size, my only gripe is I was sent a medium and could have used a large.

Cool features:
  • Large Zipper Pockets
  • Vapor- Dry side panels and arms
  • Over sized inner pocket
  • Feminine quilt pattern

I already use a travel mug (my husband's old one from work), but I did see a new fancy pink one that might be more my speed. Definitely better than paper cups in my opinion. :)

Hope the Emergen-C helps!

I loved the Emergen-C when I had used it! I think it helped me :-) I seem to catch everything too. I think it is the job, young kids, and time of the year. I hope you get better soon!

I've tried to like Emergen-C but I just can't. Guess I gotta get my C somewhere else!

I seem to be in the same boat with you this year. I think I have caught everything, and then some. :)

I need to be better about bringing my own cup when I get coffee. It's only 2-3 times a week, but boy does that add up fast!

Love that you're using a travel mug! I did that for a while but then fell out of habit. Should bring it back for sure. I always feel guilty whenever I throw out a paper cup!

Sounds like the jacket is a winner!

I need the emergen-c right now. I have a cold and feel l-o-u-s-y! Hope it works for you.

I have several travel mugs. I try to keep one clean one in my car for when I forget my favorite one that I always use.

Sweet jacket! I need a freebie to review!

Great reminder about paper coffee cups!
I use a stainless steel cup.
At work they reverted back to Styrofoam cups....when will people look at the bigger picture?

I saw that jacket on you in the post about your training run. It looked very cute. ;)

I seriously need to get a travel mug ... I always make my coffee at home but I often take it in the car in a regular mug. Talk about messy!

Significance of today - It's 3 months until Eugene!

I don't do coffee but always have a water bottle with me. Our church offers coffee each Sunday morning and I wish they'd use paper and encourage people to use their own mugs. The styrofoam is just terrible! I think I know the significance of today. But will definitely "tune in" tonight. :)

I know what you mean about the coffee cups. I used to feel so guilty about throwing them away and I never understood why they couldn't be made recyclable. I finally got new travel mugs for my husband and I for Christmas and we absolutely love them. I got them at Bed, Bath, and Beyond and they actually look like Starbucks mugs. The greatest part is that you can microwave them and put them in the dishwasher!

Oh..and I love Brooks stuff! That jacket looks really nice!

I wonder if I can give that emergenC to my two year old - she has been sick for about a month straight since we started new daycare.

It's Groundhog Day! LOL! And 3 months til Eugene!

I am in love with that Brooks jacket... sounds fabulous!

Also, I am not a daily java person, but most of the coffee places around here will offer a discount for using a travel mug. I think it's a great incentive! Good for you being GREENER.

My friend and I have a daily tea latte habit so for Christmas she bought us both travel mugs. We discovered that our favourite place charges any drink in a travel mug as a small, PLUS they take an additional $0.15 off as well!! I just wish we had known earlier!

Looks like a fantastic jacket!

Ok so I somehow deleted the last 1000 mile club email. Could you please resend it? Pretty please!

I didn't know that you could count eliptical?? Wondering if I should go back and look at my time on the eliptical or just strictly log running??? what are you doing?
