Hmm...a good story... I'm a convert to running-I started out training for tri's and realized that I loved the run split a lot! My first half marathon was done on a whim-a friend and I signed up 4 days before the event, so I hadn't done much real training-just my regular running. After that first half, my running mentor/inspiration/crazy friend warned me that I'd be sore. She advised that I keep moving and run the stairs frequently to keep things loose. My husband was very helpful in rubbing out my legs a couple of times that afternoon as well. I did what she suggested, but by the time I rolled out of bed the next morning I felt 80yrs old! Yikes! Between stretching, and leg massage roughly every hour (a generous husband is priceless!), by the next day I felt human again, and only hobbled a little.
Ironically-it made me look forward to the next distance even that much more!

I would go for lime green in medium. Yay!!!

Big Daddy Diesel said...

I remember my first triathlon, and i did not have compression yet, by the time I got home, my legs were already sore, walk like a penquin sore. I couldnt get off the couch a couple hours later. The next day I couldnt get out of bed (i did, but it hurt) after getting compression, my race recovery ius alot easier

Definitely the PINK ones. Wow I'm a medium in something feet related? That's amazing.

Alisa said...

Easy to use website my only complaint is that the pages took a little bit to load but that could be my computer.

Alisa said...

During marathon training I was a huge fan of the ice bath for runs of 13 or longer. My favorite thing to do was get in the ice bath with a steaming cup of tea. Best part was my doggie always kept me company staring at me with her big brown eyes, giving me the "what are you doing in the bath tub with a sweat shirt and tea?"

Alisa said...

I'm tweeting the giveaway right now! Are you on twitter? If so, why are we not friends?!?!?!

Allie said...

Okay, I'm loving the fushia but I also love the lime green, size large because I have some big ol' feet!

As far as website feedback, it would be nice if there was a tab for sizing, I know the sizes are on each item's page but you don't know that until you click on the item.

When I went to the website a week or so ago after you first mentioned this socks, I am intrigued at their construction. The improvement in oxygen delivery and blood circulation really have me interested. The bullet point about proven cramp relief also have me VERY interested in these socks as I've had a short history with shin splints.

ChristieisaRunner said...

My recovery often included ice packs on my shins. Last summer I suffered from terrible shin splints. After talking to a professional during my training group session for my first 1/2 marathon, I began tracing the alphabet with my toes about twice a day. She also showed me other specific stretches that help with the calves. These helped tremendously and I continue to do them even though I haven't had signs of shin splints in months. The best part? I'm a PE teacher and we stretch the kids before every class. I do my running stretches 4-6 times a day b/c I do them with the students. Who else gets to say they work on their running while working? My job rocks and I'd love to sport these socks to school. :)

first off, new to your blog and i totally love it! as for recovery socks, i have been envying them for a long, long time...i just can't decide what color i want! i spent more time than i should've on the website reading up about the technology involved and can't believe everything a pair of SOCKS can do! and finally a recovery story...after my first marathon (Seattle RnR, too!) i spoiled myself with a week-long vacay on the San Juan Islands of WA. it didnt exactly do anything for my sore muscles but was still a week of pure bliss!!

I've only been running off and on for about a year now, but have just recently started doing a little bit longer distances (6 miles). I now know what you all refer to when you talk about your calves being so tight after a longer run! I noticed a lot of swelling in my legs too after a long run so I assume it's related. Maybe the Recovery Sock would help this too??

Julia said...

omg I really hope i win! I'd get the black in M :)

Julia said...

I wish the website would tell you how much compression is offered in their socks, like an actual measurement.

Julia said...

The best recovery story I have is after the half marathon in Maui (where I PR'd yay!) I went for a good swim in the ocean. Something about the salt water, the sun, the kicking motion... It really took away the fatigue!

Lisa said...

I'd want the fuchsia socks in a small.

Lisa said...

I like how the website lists which Expos Recovery Sock will be at. Since I don't really like to purchase products online sight unseen, it's nice to know when I might be able to see a product in person.

Lisa said...

I read in a recent Runner's World that ice baths might be a myth, but personally I think they help. The best tip I got was to get in the tub as the cold water is filling up, then add in the ice. That way the shock doesn't hit you all at once.

Jacque said...

Been hearing great things about these socks. I would love a pair of Recovery Socks, size small, white.

Jacque said...

I like that I can zoom up real on the products. I like to really be able to see what I am purchasing when shopping online. The pictures of the products with the ability to zoom in are great features on the website. The info. about silver ions inhibiting bacteria growth is interesting. Can't go wrong with socks that resist stinkiness!

I'm not very knowledgeable about run/race recovery. My first marathon was followed by stretching and the post-race snacks provided. No recovery drink, socks, icing... and boy were my feet sore! I basically stopped running for a month because it hurt to even lace up my running shoes (my right foot must have swelled a ton because it was bruised where the laces were tied). I really would like to learn how to recover properly so that this doesn't happen again!

aaron said...

I learned about how recovery socks work. I know that is basic to a lot of you, but I had no idea before I went to the site! Now I can talk intelligently about how they improve blood circulation and so on.

aaron said...

I told my hubby all about the recovery sock giveaway. When I did, he started asking me about how these socks worked & I was able to answer him based on what I learned from the site! He's all about the giveaway now & wants to enter for himself :)

Nicki said...

I'm torn between the pink and the silver, but I would order a Size Medium. :) I really hope to get some of these socks soon! I'm training for my first half-marathon in March, and I know these socks would feel great after the long runs.

Nicki said...

I think the website is great! I like that they show you what size sock you should order based off your shoe size -- Very helpful!! :)

Nicki said...

A lot of times I have used ice on my legs after a long run. My shins tend to get really sore, so I'm sure these socks would really help!

I doubt I have an *interesting* story about post race recovery! I normally just stretch, ice and foam roller. But after my first half marathon, my mom, a friend, and I all went vodka tasting. After lunch and lots of water, of course :) I guess that counts as recovery...?

my calves are usually what are most sore (which recovery socks would really help with!!!!) last weekend after a long run (or long in my book, a pitiful little 5 miles) i took an ice bath, but didnt have any ice so i had to get a bucket of snow from outside Brrrrr. not sure how much it helped, but the bath was excruciating!!! i think recovery socks would be a lot less dramatic and much more comfortable than soaking in freezing cold water....i'll never do that again!!!!

A good recovery story? Last summer after the High Cliff Triathlon I treated myself to a massage. The tri was brutal. Hot. Hard. I completely bonked during the run. I considered skipping out on the massage (it was a free perk offered at the expo by one of the race sponsors), but I went. And it was the best. thing. ever. It was only 20 minutes, but she worked my muscles and I felt so relaxed afterward! And the next day? I wasn't even that sore! Will definitely do it again.
