I'd like the fuschia recovery sock in a size small. I am a new runner but my legs do get sore...I never knew there was a product that could actually help, and now I want to try them!

I would want the fuschia sock in a small size. They sound great. I would love to try them.

It took me awhile to find the size chart on the website so that could be just me. The info sounded convincing enough that I bookmarked it to possibly buy if I don't win!

post run recoveries for me lately have been icing and ice baths as im having some major shin issues. boo. ice baths HURT. i was literally in tears during my first one. after that, you know what to expect and they get a little easier. but you get so COLD! OMG.

Hmmm. A recovery story. I don't know how good this story is. I have certain stretches I am very consistent with that take care of some soreness I tend to get. I know I do not do all I can for recovery.

For a recovery story - it was unplanned, but after I finished the Marine Corps Marathon in 2008, I walked 3 miles back to my house. It's mostly uphill and we walked it slowly and I'm convinced that's why I was able to actually move the next day.

OOOH YAY... Def the Fuchsia socks in S orrrr the Arm warmers!!!!

EEEK LOVE these and I NEED a pair

Stephanie Nichole said...

I don't know if I have anything constructive but I really like how they tell you about the socks-- how they work and how to use them. Surprisingly there are SO many products out there that don't do that (ahem Vibrams!)

Steel Springs said...

I liked how the size chart was on the same page as the product.

The website did a great job listing the benefits of compression socks. I didn't realize that one of the benefits of compression socks was that it increases the flow of oxygenated blood. I would like to know more about when (if at all) we should not wear compression socks. Is there such a thing as wearing them too often?

Stephanie Nichole said...

oh gosh... story? Ok so remember the time I missed my BQ by 13 seconds and was in SO much pain? Yeah... I remember!

Well... I had to walk about a half mile from the finish tothe hotel to take a shower and get back in time to see my friend finish. Well my legs didn't want to move and literally every 10 feet I had to squat down into a ball because my hamstrings would go into spazms. I had to walk past all the REALLY fast runners who were finished and getting massages like a freaking hermit squating every 10 ft.

A hot shower was the ONLY thing I could do to straighten out. That and about 50 ibuprophen and stretching in the shower. I was stil in a lot of pain the next day... and this is why I need recovery socks. :)

The End

Steel Springs said...

My recovery story is pretty simple. After my 10k on Thanksgiving (my first), I hopped into the hot tub for a few minutes. Later, I iced my knees. I was really sore on Thanksgiving, but I felt great the next day.

Stephanie Nichole said...

OOH I'm a tall mom 1000 club member and I've run 155.5 Miles this year so far!!! Well over the monthly goal :)

Carlee said...

I've been slacking lately with my recovery after long runs because they should involve an icebath. However, I do wear my recovery socks (currently own one pair) during and after long runs and to sleep

(p.s. did you catch that I own one pair and yes I wear them all those times; therefore, I am gross and need these socks. in the meantime don't smell my feet).

As for a story - After my half marathon this weekend (that ended up as a new PR even though I didn't feel like I was pushing the pace) I had to rush back across the valley, get a shower, and get in a full day at work on my feet! I wore a pair of compression socks and my legs feel SO much better than I expected them too. Usually my whole body is drained after a half, but not this time.
Now the test is to see how they hold up for this weekend's half marathon, and next weekend's half marathon!!

Dang...it has to be a GOOD story. I got SKINS for Christmas and love them. I believe the SKINS have helped me with recovery because after my long runs I have had to paint, work, stand for hours after my run and my legs have felt good. I may have felt tired and hungry but my legs have felt good. Eating protein usually helps me feel better after a long run.

I'm digging the silver recovery socks! Fun (non) recovery story for me: I ran the Wichita marathon in October dressed as Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz...we were in Kansas...hello! So, I lived in Memphis at the time and had my little 13 month old with me. I ran the marathon with my best friend then stretched for 20 minutes and hopped in the car with my baby and drove 9 hours home because I had to work the next day. How's that for a girl who needs recovery socks! And this is not a rare occurrence for me unfortunately!

I ran a marathon in Maryland a few years back. I had not be feeling super great but fibbed to the family about what I thought was wrong.

I over dressed because I had chills and ended up giving myself heat stroke! But I finished the marathon. You know, the important things to a runner. Sometimes I scare even me.
After the race I go to the doctor. I knew I had pneumonia. The doctor confirmed it.
So I had total body soreness! I was put on medication and bed rest for a few days to allow my body to fight the pneumonia. I tried to keep my legs loose and strech them but not so easy in bed...being watched like a hawk. Fluids, rest and loads of easing back into things followed by loads of streching and I was recovered.
The marathon? I think minus the pneumonia I would have walked away feeling fine!

I have never used recovery socks, but last year when I was training for my first Half Ironman I bought a pair of recovery tights. I did A LOT of research and decided they would best meet my needs at the time. I would wear them after every long run and bike ride over an hour and keep them on for several hours. I think they really helped with my recovery. I am extremely interested in trying out recovery socks b/c I have heard so many great things about them. If I don't win this giveaway I will definitely be searching for some sales! :)

Usually a quick ice bath with epsom salt followed by a warm shower helps my soreness. Last Thanksgiving, I ran a marathon, drove home, and had about 45 minutes to get ready to go to a relative's house for dinner so my routine was cut short- bad, bad, bad. The next day, I had to work all of the soreness out with a foam roller.

Bethany + Ryan said...

for my recovery i usually drink a protein shake or Endurox. i also eat right away and keep moving. The most sore i've ever been was in 2007 after the RNR Nashville marathon, i tried to keep up with my cousin, nothing helped me the next day! or should i say week. My best recovery is always after Goofy's Challenge. I'm usually hardly sore at ll the next day, i think back to back running helps with that. I'm very skeptical of these socks so i hope i win!!

I haven’t done much for post race recovery in the past. I don’t know if this qualifies for *good*, but my most interesting post race story was from my last half. January 1 in upstate NY (read cool temps). When I got in the car to go home I had a recoverite drink from Hammer Nutrition. Not half of a mile from the race I blew a tire but didn’t know it. About a mile later I pulled the car over and tried to call my husband…of course my cell phone was dead. I randomly knocked on someone’s door, borrowed a phone and my hubby called AAA for me. While I was waiting (in wet shoes because I forgot to bring dry ones) I jogged up and down the road and used the car to stretch out. The surprising part is that I wasn’t sore at all the next day and was running three days later pain free.

My very first marathon was Nike Women's marathon 2008. Nike has sweet perks for their runners, including foot massages and that year there was a reflexologist. I was lucky enough to get the reflexologist, who I am convinced helped me tolerate an 8 hour travel time that same evening.

Under "normal" circumstances, lots and lots of walking helps me! It hurts and kinda sucks, especially if you want to sleep, but recovery is so much faster if you keep walking. Slowly.

The things I will do for a pair of good recovery socks!
1. Went to the website, and I rather like it. I am completely torn between the fushia and the lime green, but I have a feeling the fushia will go better with my current running gear, so fuschia size M.
2. I didn't know about graduated compression - I figured all this was just stolen by a bunch of nurses who decided to wear compression stockings running one day.
3. I'm now a fan on facebook.
4. I posted about the contest on my blog. and
5. The best story I have about being sore from a run is after the Ironman 70.3 in Augusta. At 1st I was fine and then about an hour afterwards, I started getting tight. I took a shower, then an ice bath, had a leg massage, rollered my legs, and then wore a pair of... you guessed it, compression socks to bed!

okay, now I totally want some recovery socks. I had never really read anything about them. These sound so cool!

April said...

The website is really simple to navigate. I've never worn recovery socks and had no idea the benefits of wearing them. I have been seeing runners wear them in races for over a year but it wasn't until about 3 months ago that I found out they weren't just a fashion accessory.
Will def be wearing some for my next race!

Melissa said...

My first really hard race was a 5 mile trail run that I (stupidly) thought was just on a paved trail. I was sooo very wrong. I hurt so badly that night and the next day. Calves, butt, hips, EVERYWHERE.
As a new runner, I had no idea of what to do, so epsom salts, hot baths, and lots of pjs on the couch time is what I did to recover.

April said...

During my last race I strained my IT band and was in a lot of pain. I was staying with my brother in AZ and he has a hot tub. I rotated sitting in the hot tub and icing my leg for about a day and a half. I used R.I.C.E. Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation. It felt a lot better by the time I had to fly home though sitting on the plane for 3hrs was a little uncomfortable. When I got home I went and got a massage to help eliminate some of the lactic acid that gets built up in the muscles around the injury. Feels great now!

I am a firm believer in ICE BATHS! I take them after every long run 13 miles or longer. I usually do them in the privacy of my own home (of course) but last year after the SD Rock and Roll Marathon I took one at the hotel we were staying at. It was a really disaster of a race for me, I was beat up.
When I got into the bath I was so spent and tired I screamed, like blood curdling screamed! And I couldn't stop. I was just so tired but knew I had to stay in there. I was yelling at my hubbs to stay with me and distract me. Yes yelling, I was just done. About 10 mins into the bath, hotel security came. They had heard complaints from neighbors about a screaming woman in our room. My hubbs had answered the door and when he told them I was taking an ice bath they din't quite believe him or actually get it. All the while I was in the bath. They weren't buying his story...and the next thing I knew, I had two large security guys standing in the bathroom looking at me in the ice bath! OMG! Thankfully I was still in my race shorts and sports bra so nothing good to see.
We all had a good laugh after I explained to them what I had just done (ran a marathon) and why I was screaming :)
They were very nice and laughed as they left!!!
When we checked out later that day, we got some looks to say the least!!

Katie A. said...

I have been drooling over the pink Recovery socks...I would wear a size medium! I hope, I hope, I hope I win! They are so darn cute and helpful!!

Katie A. said...

I was just on their site the other day, and I noticed that the New Year's promotion is kind-of hard to click around. I wanted to see and price the pink socks but it was confusing to get there. I like the promotion of 1 pair of socks + 1 pair of arm warmers, but it was too hard to figure out how to get to the rest of the products and not just the promotions.
I'm saving up right now for a pink pair ;) But I really, really want to win!

Lately I've started to train more as I'm getting ready for my first half and ramping mileage and am experiencing a lot of soreness in my calf muscles. I tend to do cold water ice bath in tub and warm shower followed to help ease the soreness.

I'd go for the black ones in a size small.

I've never worn recovery socks, so I don't know much about them. Looking at the site, I see that they help in getting blood back to the the heart. I thought it just increased the blood flow in the muscles.

Just became a fan on FB.

After my last marathon (Boston), I really didn't have time to recover. I crossed the finish line, found my wife, grabbed my stuff, drove to a friends house to shower, then headed straight to the airport. I could feel my muscles tightening on the flight, but but I just kept them moving as much as I could. I never got as sore as I was expecting. Still, very sore, but not as bad as it might have been.

Last weekend, after my 22.5 miler I immediately threw on my recovery socks (this is a staple to my after long run recovery plan) I had to immediately drive home to Orlando (1.5 hours from B.o.B's) I really think that if I hadn't of been wearing them or stopped at the halfway point to stretch out I would've felt totally tore up but later that day I couldn't even tell I had run that far. I heart my recovery socks so much!

I totally need new Recovery Socks. I want the fuschia socks in small.

I think the wedsite is great. It's very informative and easy to figure out what they offer. I also like their sizing. I hate it when it's so complicated that you end up guessing your size.

After my marathon, the first thing I did when I got to the car was put on my recovery socks. It was a couple of hours before I got home, so I couldn't take an ice bath right away so the socks were the next best thing. They made my feet feel wonderful! I wore those socks almost non-stop the next few days. While I looked like a stiff-legged monster going downstairs for a few days, I figure I would have been going down the stairs on my butt if I hadn't worn the socks.

After I ran my first marathon in 2005, I was stupid and decided just to lay down because I was tired. It was the most painful feeling in the world to have all of your muscles suddenly cramp up. I also tend to get Charley Horses in my calves at 3 am following a really tough workout. I've always had to just work on stretching and rubbing it out to try and recover, but I'm hoping a pair of recovery socks would help reduce the cramps in my calves. There's nothing like waking up at 3 am with a shooting pain in your let.

Great giveaway! While I usually go for simple colors, I'd go for a pair of green socks here, in size med. So fun!

I'm now a fan on facebook, and my previous comment should have ended in "leg" not "let".

I linked to your giveaway on my FB fan page.

Checking out the site, it's pretty easy to get around but it does seem like they re-state the same info on several pages, which isn't really necessary. Also, this might not happen for everyone, but when I rolled over the 'products' tab, "recovery socks" came down and "arm warmers" off of that, but when I clicked on 'socks' the arm warmers came up too. Not a problem for me, just something I noticed.

I love the fushia ones (small)! So cheerful and colorful!

That is a really good website...I like how the information is very available and educational. (I'm in marketing and design so I know websites!)

I didn't really learn anything different about compression though because I've been on that bandwagon for a while now.

I am so intrigued by the recovery socks....the first time I really ever felt my legs aching was after my first half marathon...and yikes-it was intense! I think if I had had something like that to help circulation and reduce lactic acid production, my life could have been much more comfortable for those couple of days!

The site is great-easy to navigate and find what you want! And I love that the little yellow "why go for recovery sock" box stays up on every page! It's nice that they keep reminding you of why you want them so badly no matter what page you are on! :)
