On my terms

Friday was a relaxing 6 miler. AC and I ran 4 miles together, he brought his negative splits and I ran a step behind. Along the way he told a SUPER funny story about his son in the bath, the word "Balls" was discussed, nuff said. Among other topics we came to personality and how people live life by their own terms.

Made me think about how my Marathon training has gone so far. Yes I have a PLAN but I am really do things my way and going with my body. Paces, distances, days, etc.. I will run the planned miles and more. I will run the pace it spells out and faster. It is my plan on my terms, with a little help from my friends along the way... and you know what?

I am having a BLAST!

I can hardly believe that 6 miles is my easy run and that I am EXCITED to run 13 miles tomorrow. There will be ups and downs the next few months. Today I am training for 26.2 miles and if the the Marathon goes half as well as the training has, I am in for a GREAT RACE.

HAPPY SATURDAY!

Glad to hear your training is going so well. With all your running buddies, your miles are probably flying by. I hope to hit the treadmill today and tomorrow since the outside world is covered in....melted marshmallows.

It would be so much pretty if I wasn't 2 long runs behind with less than 30 days until 50k. Ekk!

What a great journey it will be no matter the training.

LOVE IT! That is really how I feel about my training. It's on my terms. I am flexible and do what feels right and most importantly what feels FUN. Today I was scheduled for a 14 mile run but DC got dumped on and I changed it to a 6 mile run with 12 other people crazy enough to run in a blizzard! The 14 mile run can wait until I am good and ready, right?

That is one of the coolest things about running, seeing how far you have come! I don't know if I'll ever be excited to run 13 miles haha. I know your race is going to go awesome!

Yeah, I remember a time in the not-so-distant past where six miles seemed unattainable. Things progress so quickly when you believe in yourself and your training.

So happy that the training has been fun for you. You know what they say, "Enjoy the journey!"

Those are always the best runs - hanging out with people who make you laugh and your legs feel good. Have a great long run tomorrow!

the words short and 6 miles really don't go together ya know.

I totally agree Mel! You can't stick with a place 100% if it just isn't you! Listening to your body is really good! I think being in tune with what your body need and wants is one of the vital things for good training and good racing!!

Oh, the things we talk about on a run... lol!

On your terms... I like that! I think it's important to 'hold your own' when training with others. You are doing AWESOME!
