Honored, Happy and Hills

I cannot begin to tell you how HONORED I am. Yesterday I received an email that I was nominated by Erica H HERE as "Most Influential Runner" on Run Reviews HERE. Thank you Erica, this nomination truly made my day.

The past few weeks my mailbox has been HAPPY and full from Bloggy Pack members. Genesis HERE sent me two Rachel Ray Cooks books to peruse. Gene HERE mailed "Bowerman and the Men of Oregon" so I can learn more about the history of running in Eugene. He also wrote his name on the inside and I will be passing the book along when I am done. And I won Dean Karnazes book "50/50" from Alisa HERE. THANK YOU ALL!! Now if I could only find some time to read...I am thinking that I will have time on the plane for my business trip the end of this month.

Yesterday was the first HILL training day on my Marathon training plan. Thankfully I was not alone, AC came along for the FUN! We ran 2 miles to warm up then started the 10 x 200m Hill Repeats. The Hill near my work is on Monster Road, oh the irony. The plan said to run up at 5K race pace, I am not sure if I achieved that but I did give my best effort. I could not breathe or swallow due to congestion, UGH!!

I could feel the muscle in my quads pushing me up the incline, I KNOW that I am getting stronger with each step. At one point I turned for the recovery jog down and slowed almost to a stop. AC said "Hey no walking!" Gotta love a good training partner, of course he was also cursing me the whole time because he could not keep up. This was a GREAT workout, today I have minimal soreness because I wore my Recovery Socks last night and iced my knees while watching the LOST recap.

HAPPY WEDNESDAY!

I've never done hill repeats just hilly runs. I have a great hill near my place that I could do repeats but I'm kinda scared to try =). hehe

Ugh, hill workouts = hate. BUT! I know how important and good for you they are. I've been putting them off for soooo long--maybe that's what I will do tomorrow...?

Way to tackle those hills, Mel!

Great job on the hills; I did hills on Tuesday and wow, it hurts so good. Hills and speed work guarantee a faster race pace.

Hmmm... I made a bunch of comments and they didn't "take". I'll try again. Sorry if they show up twice.

First, I just got my first pair of Recovery Sock. I love them! I ordered Silver but now I want Fushia, also.

Second post: I've been a Facebook fan for about a week.

Third, I like the easy-to-use format of the Recovery Sock website. The tabs across the top make it easy to find where I want to be. I also appreciate the clean, uncluttered appearance.

Fourth, my best post run recovery experience was after a 22 mile group run. I was SO tired and my legs and feet were shaky and weak on top of it, my heel was bothering me (no surprise there!). The run ended at one of my favorite beaches and I soaked my aching legs and feet in the cold Pacific for about 20 minutes. It was wonderful!
