Test Lab Tuesday

Welcome to the day I dedicate to all things I review..

Living, Eating and Running...
Pandora.com (HERE):
I am sure that many of you are already enjoying Pandora.com. For those of you who aren't, this music website is AMAZING!! I am a low key music person, I love Josh Groban, Colbie Caillat, David Foster and Michael Buble to name a few. All you do on this website is register for FREE and "Create a New Station." Chose the name of an artist or band you like and Pandora will create a station in that musical genre.. I have found new artists I had never heard of and songs that I now LOVE. Check it out!!
First off I am not some Avatar crazy person, Muscle Man went to see "Avatar" with Tall Grandpa and Really-Tall Brother and said I needed to see it. There is a love story!! This movie is very entertaining. I am not a fan of violence, war movies, or anything overly political, so there were aspects that I did not enjoy. I did find myself lost in the breathtaking scenery and beautiful blue creatures. I have heard that Imax and 3D is the way to go. This is a theatre must see. Not to giveaway the plot but Zoe and I were chatting and think that the "FernGully: The Last Rainforest" may have a case on plot copying.
Bean and Vegetable Chili:
Runner's World this month has a recipe on page 40. I had purchased all the fixins thinking this would be one of my recipes for my 12 recipe Goal. Instead Muscle Man opted to cook the fresh ingredients before the products went bad. We edited some, I don't do spicy, but stuck pretty true to the recipe and it was TASTY!! A cross between Chili and stew with tons of tasty veggies. I had never tried Eggplant or Cumin, so this was a little adventure. If you are interested in the recipe and don't have a copy of Runner's World email me and I will send you the recipe.

Runner's Gone Goofy (HERE):
Have you heard of the Goofy Challenge?? This weekend some Bloggy Pack members and GOOFY runner's from all over will run a Half Marathon on Saturday, followed by a Full Marathon on Sunday!!! Hello??? Can you say Amazing? I am truly excited to read the race reports and may be adding this to my Stretch Goals for the future. Next week check the Following Tall Mom Friends for full Goofy details: Bethany & Ryan, Marlene, and Robin, let me know if I forgot some one. And GOOD LUCK you GOOFY people!!

Icebreaker Chakra Zip (HERE):
The wonderful folks a icebreaker sent me a few apparel items to TEST. Icebreaker is New Zealand Merino wool and has a very unique website and story. Check it out HERE. Note: Do not look at the website while at work, the bottoms section features women (tastefully) but partially dressed.
What icebreaker says:
This raglan long-sleeved top has a high neck and a versatile zip, along with flat seams for extra comfort. The Chakra Zip is a classic style you'll wear at all times of day, and in all seasons.
  • Raglan long sleeve zip top with stand-up collar
  • Tonal flat sewn stitching on the seams
  • Seamless underarm
  • Reverse zip (does not show teeth)
  • 100% pure merino

Tall Mom Thoughts:

First off the pink is adorable and the fit is very true to size. I was a little nervous for the Merino to be itchy but overall the fabric was great. This zip can be used as a base layer or solo. The care instructions say not to dry...UGH!! So I followed and laid it flat, which ended with some fuzzy stuff stuck to the shirt. Must have washed it with the wrong stuff. The fit was still PERFECT after the first wear. Now I just have to remember to keep it out of the dryer..

Bodyfit 200 Legless (HERE):
What icebreaker says:
For serious boot-wearing occasions (such as hiking, skiing or snowboarding), these specially-designed 3/4 length leggings couldn't be better. The length keeps them clear of your boots, and the double cuff ensures they stay exactly where they're supposed to.
  • Soft elastic waistband
  • Tonal flat sewn side seams
  • 100% pure merino
Tall Mom Thoughts:
These I did throw in the dryer and they came out great. These may not be made for running but are really great base layer capris. I wore these solo one day with long compression socks, and on another day under loose fitting running pants, both days I was 95% comfortable (LOL) I also wore these Christmas Tree hunting under my jeans :) The Merino keeps the backside warm and the waistband does not irritate. These pants are also very true to size.
  • If there is a product you would like to see reviewed on Test Lab Tuesday please email me at tallmomontherun (@) hotmail.

totally not an item you reviewed, but where is the shirt you are wearing in the chili picture from? It's way cute.

I loved the love story in Avatar! Hubby and my son went to see it again in 3D and liked the regular version better...(brighter, more vivid and clear).
I WILL do the Goofy challenge one of these years! I love Disney, I would live there if I could. ( : Happy Tuesday!

I would love to add the Goofy Challenge to my future goals as well. I've also been reading up on it and following a few blogs. I can't wait to see how everyone does.
We recently discovered Pandora too. It's great. It was a feature with the blu-ray player we got for Christmas. It's nice to turn it on and go. I've discovered several new artists and songs I never would have without it.
I enjoy your reviews. I'm always looking for new stuff.
BTW-It's a miracle. I have two race reviews on my blog and way more stuff to come. I'm so excited to actually have someone reading my blog.
Have a great Tuesday!!!!

I HEART Pandora! And, the fact that my sister can hook her blackberry up in her car via the auxillary input, is sweet! Listening to Pandora on our 2+ hour rides home is wonderful!

i am obsessed with pandora!!!!!!!!!! i even got elliot hooked :)

i'm really glad you saw avatar!!! it did remind me of fern gully actually, but i thought it was really different, just had the same theme of the intruders in the forest type of thing. but i think that is a theme that can't be repeated enough because we need to hit people over the head with the fact that nature is a world and we share the earth with it and if we paid just a little more attention to it we could possibly live a more balanced and appreciative life :) i actually feel really strongly about it, lol.

i love that you get sent stuff to test out. i enjoy seeing the running clothes for sure!!! i was talking to my friends i spent the weekend with cuz they are all runners, too, and you would think running would be a cheap sport, but if you buy "running clothes" and new sneakers, etc. it is SO not. but i think finding some "worth it" pieces are definitely a must, and of course finding deals... i love running clothes and gear :)

Thanks for the shout out and the well wishes. I am hoping my RR is a good one, but we will see how these legs do.

That chili does look good, I think I make it way too much, my husband is probably sick of it.

I am also excited to read the Goofy Race Reports! Good luck goof-balls :)

DON'T just throw the top in the drier - will be very bad - not meant to do that with merino wool - oh horrible consequences!!!

I really like the Icebreaker gear. I use it for running, biking, skiing, and hunting. It really does keep your toasty after it is soaked. I am a sweater, so this is important to me!

I can't WAIT to goofy one day! Good luck to all of the Disney runners!

Lisa said...

Okay, now I'm going to have to try the recipe. There's one in this month's issue that looks good too!

I had to stop by to tell you that when I looked at my HRM after my run today and saw that I burned 333 calories I immediately thought of you! :)

Yay for NZ product!! ... especially good ole NZ little person building big :) DON'T put it in the drier, Merino wool shrinks and it will eventually all go misshaped and motly looking - funny enough, it's probably not something the manufacturer has thought about - here in NZ we just about always hang everything outside on a clothesline to dry, even in the winter because our weather is so mild all year around, I don't think they've thought of other countries who do a lot of their drying via machine!

Loving your blog ... I really need to work harder at commenting more often!

I heard someone else say the same thing about FernGully and Avatar. I still do not know if I want to see it!! Isnt it super long too??

I am now going to e mail you because I want the chilli recipe! mmm mmm

Those capri leggings look really neat - I think I need those. Thanks again for all your reviews!! Not sure I can bring myself to see Avatar though.
Happy Tuesday!

I want to see Avatar, I can't believe it has got my attention, but it has.

I am a fan of Merino wool. I wear a lot of SmartWool products. Ice Breakers is good too. ;)

Avatar! Woot! I read somewhere that the critics were comparing it to Pocahontas (sure, I get that...but really???). Oh well. Ferngully is right on.

Love the pink merino top! The website is pretty interesting, and I found a bunch of things that look fabulous. :)

And the Goofy Challenge??? HARDCORE. Wow!

Not sure if you watch Glee (if you don't, you should) but you can create a whole Pandora station based on Glee...it's delightful.

Sarah Jane said...

Really-tall-brother...HAHAHA! You're so cute.

Is it weird that I not only remember the movie Ferngully, but I also remember the songs? Woah.

OMG, you are SO going to be Goofy one day, aren't you??

Shellyrm ~ just a country runner said...

Seems like everyone is getting Goofy. We have relatives in FL, maybe someday I'll get goofy too!

I loved Ferngully! My son saw Avatar and loved it. My middle wants to see it but I'm not sure it's a good pick for an 8 year old. (PG-13 and all)

Love the gear but I'm on a no buy zone (except my Dick's gift card) for quite a while!

Unknown said...

Glad to hear the stew/chili turned out yummy. I tore the recipe out of my runners world to try soon!

Hubs and I absolutely LOVED Avatar. Amazing movie.
