Tall Mom 1,000+++ Club Details

Welcome to the Tall Mom 1,000+++ Club, for those who strive to Run 1,000 and BEYOND in 2010.

The Rules are simple:

1. Run, walk, shuffle, or crawl 1,000 Miles or more+++ in 2010! Miles by the power of your feet (or hands, that would take effort).

2. Keep track of your miles, I am hoping to have a shared spreadsheet ready soon. Check in every quarter with your mileage to date posted on Tall Mom. First Check in is March 31st, so mark your calendar.

3. Post the Club logo (Above) with a link to this Post somewhere on your Blog. If you do not have a Blog be sure to let people know you are taking on this challenge so they WILL cheer you on as you go.

4. Make it to your goal by January 1, 2011 and you will be HANDSOMELY rewarded.. Prizes and sponsor information coming SOON, I have a whole year to get this ready so you know it will be BIG..

A little intimidated??
Break it down in simple Math

1,000/12 months in a year= 83.33 Miles per month

1,000/52 weeks in a year= 19.23 Miles per week

1,000/365 days in a year= 2.74 Miles per day

  • Funny story....I ran 4 miles yesterday wearing Spandex that were purchased to go under my High School Track shorts!! That means the spandex are from 1995, and still in pretty good shape. I had a little ANXIETY attack when I made my 2010 mileage spreadsheet. Starting over was ROUGH.. I am at 16.79 Miles so far and all miles with a partner..

I want in on the challenge! :)

Genesis said...

wow when you break down 1,000 miles like that it seems less daunting and SCARY! that's cool you got that many people to sign up.

Allie said...

Congrats to everyone doing this....I'm not quite ready for that, I'm shooting for 500 miles this year but I wish you all the best of luck.

Velma said...

I am excited - I just sent in all my stuff via email!!

Just sent my info! Cheers to 1000 all!!!

Mel, I would love to join! No blog here, but I am an avid reader. :) Was already planning on 1000 in 2010....now I can be held accountable. I will email you today all my info.

Maggie (in Oklahoma City)

Jill said...

I will certainly join (my 2010 goal is to run 2010 miles :) sorry I missed your other blog to join). If I can commit via blog, then sign me up...but if I need to do it elsewhere, I can do that, too (I clicked on your other link but was too moronic to figure it out...it looked just like a list to me. sorry).

I may not need to be contacted for inspiration, per se, but just reminded to give you my mileage tally. That's the hard part for me, scatter-brain and all.

Happy Wednesday. :)

I sent you my info just now for the challenge! This is a BIG one for me!

Ha! High School spandex! I love it! The only running tights I own were team issued in college. I am to cheap to go buy new pairs!

You are always so motivating! I love the idea :-)

Melissa said...

I'm halfway thinking about doing this and adding together running and walking mileage. Decisions, decisions.

April said...

Just posted the link and logo! And I will get the email out shortly. I'm so excited to be a part of this!
Kudos to you for fitting into spandex from high school!!!LOL!

So want to join but not sure if I can catch up on the miles lost while injured - wont be able to run for 6-8 more weeks and then it will be slow going for a while..................might have to wait for next year but big kudos to you for getting this started!!!

Kristin Meeks said...

I need to get my butt running--I think I have 2.5 miles for the year...lol. I'll blame the holiday, bowl games, first week of the quarter at the college I work at and SNOW! haha.
Good job at running with a partner!

I am just amazed that you work, keep up this great blog, have your two kids, AND can respond to other people's blogs so consistently... and all without an iPhone...wow ;) Maybe you should be Tall Wonder Mom on the Run!

Anyway, count me in...I can't believe you just started running less than two years ago...I have been running on and off for the last 15 and haven't experienced this level of determination...but rock on!!

I will email info shortly.

Anonymous said...

I want in too!! (You had no idea what you were getting yourself into, huh?!-Great idea!) I'm emailing you now :)

Tri Mommy said...

I am so tempted, but being a triathlete I don't think I can get it in with all the other training I do. But I'm thinking that if you do a club in 2011, I may just bite the bullet then. But ohhh sooo tempting!

Mike Russell said...

Great challenge. This will get a lot of your followers moving! Good work.

Stephanie Nichole said...

I LOVE those names... esp. "who invited the girl!" Too funny! I should have just asked you from the start!

Libby said...

Ooh...I want in too! I will be emailing you shortly!

And yay for spandex from high school! That is awesome

Dion said...

Can I join in too? Pretty please?!

I'll send my info right now.

Anne said...

I'm still too much of a beginning to join you, but being Canadian, I'll aim for 1000Ks for now and see how it goes. I find your blog extremely inspiring. So, although I won't be joining you, I'll be rooting for all of you and working on my Km's! Thanks!

Lisa said...

So, this sounds absolutely awesome, but I don't know if I can make it since I'm still overcoming my foot injury. Since you say 'walk' can I include my 3 mile walk to/from work or does it have to be distance solely for the purpose of exercise? (Which, I'd totally understand cause I feel like my walks to/from work would be a little like cheating!)

J said...

Thanks for organizing this! I am sending you an email with all my info soon!

Suzy said...

Off to send you an e-mail. I wear ADP's spandex running pants occasionally too!

Anonymous said...

Yay! I'm in!

I will e-mail you with the dirty details of my life and then amaze you with my speed - uh - I mean effort.

Nice job.

greentigress said...

I just posted my details - will be checking in a lot

Kathy said...

Tall Mom-once again, you are so inspiring. Just what I need given the circumstances, I may not be running All of the miles but I will be Walking or swimming or shuffling them!! Count me in, I can't wait!! Emailing you my info in just a few minutes. THank you. Thank you. Thank you. <3

Fun, fun, fun :-)

I have one sports bra from Moving Comfort that I bought waaaaaay back in 97. I still wear it. It still supports my girls!

Unknown said...

wow: what a great idea and army of moving women you've got. can't wait to see people make their goals. (I'd commit too, but I know myself: I don't record mileage or anything else run-related very well.)

Makes you wonder what exactly spandex is made of, doesn't it? Maybe we'll be wearing the same spandex when we're those old ladies wobbling towards the back in those 5ks 40 yrs from now. Ha!

Thanks again for setting up this challenge. Can't wait!

Megan said...

Ok. Me too. Doubt I can make this. Plus I'm planning to work on baby #3 at the end of next year. But I love a challenge

Badgergirl said...

Seeing my name in print made me think, "What did I get myself into?" But I'll give it my best shot. And some of those miles? They might be walking miles. :)

I'll send out the e-mail to you tomorrow.

Thanks for organizing!

Shellyrm ~ just a country runner said...

I will send you an email tomorrow with my info just so you'll have it all together and can cut and paste it if that helps.

I can close to 2000 miles this year without really trying but now that I realize I need 38.7 miles a week to make 2010 it seems crazy. I am going to do what I did this year, enjoy the journey and let the numbers add up as they may.

This project is a big one! Thanks for putting it together. I am enjoying all the extra incentives over the winter to keep my numbers up and all my running gear helps too.

Have a great Thursday Mel. *hugs*

RunningFromCancer said...

Thanks for the motivation. So far I have run only 11 miles - BUT they were all in near ZERO degree temps. Here's to running in warmer temps.
Tomorrow mornings run should be in mid-teen temps. Yahoo . . . I will reserve the term "Heat Wave" for 30 degree temps.

MCM Mama said...

Will send you the email and put it on my sidebar tomorrow. Thanks for organizing!
