My 3 Cents

On the Sunday night before I go back to my Big Girl job I have a few things to report. Tonight I will call it my 3 cents. The whole "A Penny for your Thoughts?" approach..

1. Taking a positive attitude toward HILLS was great today. Full report tomorrow on our 10 miler, running buddy Zoe took me on a rolling-hill adventure through the misty fog. I have now run 13 miles in 2010, all with running buddies!! Volleyball starts up again, first game tonight, hoping that I have some hop left in my legs.

2. I truly believe that the highest compliment a person can give is to ask me a question. By asking me a question that means you think I know something..LOL!! Thanks to Kim for her email today, you will do great in the Disney Princess Half. If anyone out there has a question or is a tad fearful to comment don't be. I may be TALL but I don't bite.

3. I made Banana Bread for the fist time in my life!!! I repeat I baked! Melanie is not a cook or a baker, at least that is what I have been telling myself. Last night I bought what I needed at Winco, followed the recipe, and it tasted pretty darn good! I also purchased the fixins for my first family meal I will make this week, thanks to the recipe in Runner's world.

3 1/2. Tall Mom 1,000+++ Club details will be up this week. I will update the participant list because there have been some new comments since I last updated (WELCOME). If you are interested please go to this post (HERE) and leave a comment prior to Wednesday 1/6. If you want to join a club but are hesitant to shoot for 1,000 there is a place, go visit Bloggy Pack Members Robin and Melissa on their Pay it Forward 500 Mile Club HERE. Robin is also hosting a GREAT giveaway HERE.

  • Guess that was 3 and 1/2 Cents, oh well.. What is on your mind tonight? On the 3rd day of the New Year...what do you think of 2010??
HAPPY SUNDAY!!

Off to Bump, Spike and Block..

That's great on the bread. I love Banana bread. Only get it when others make it. I've never attempted. But I may in 2010!

I was loving 2010 when I got my PR Friday but then today I woke up sick so right now 2010 and I aren't buds. On a whole, I think this will be a good year though :)

My son leaves for Basic Training in 7 days...I am certain I will blog quite a bit about this topic...that is what is on my mind.

It is uncharted waters for this mom. Today my heart is sadden by the thought of it...tomorrow might be better. One day at a time.

Thanks for asking what was on my mind. It's a refreshing change from "mom what's for dinner?" or "mom, I need you to _____"

A positive attitude on hills is SO important, isn't it? I try to say things to myself when running up a hill like, "I love hills, I love hill, I LOVE HILLS..." just to keep myself from thinking about how much I HATE, HATE, HATE them. Oh sorry, um, lost my positive attitude there for a sec.

Excited for the 1000+ club, I've got 6 so far!

Woohoo! Baking and cooking are not my things either, so kudos! Let us know how that RW recipe turns out. Maybe you'll have to start a food blog, too! ;)

I love baking! My banana bread recipe is one that my daughter has taken with her and continues to make for herself and people she loves. ;)

Hi Mel,
I hate hills! I do, I hate them and I complain about them! I am in emotional and physical pain the entire time it takes to get up them! I know that they are good for me and will make me a stronger runner. I think about the Rocky theme song and hum it out loud to get me moving and more on a positive note:) Good job on your great long hilly run!

Congratulations on your successes with your new years' goals! I was wondering what running tights you were? Are they compression tights? I am also a tall runner and trying to find some good running tights. Thanks!

I definitely feel like changing my attitude toward hills has made be enjoy them. Also, I've been running hills now for about a year consistently and there is SUCH a HUGE difference from when I started. Like with all things practice makes perfect.

Good job with the banana bread. I've commited to cooking on Monday nights. Black bean burgers are on the menu for tonight!

Just remember, hills are your friend! I went from 100% flat training to 100% hills...it sucks but is so awesome at the same time!

I've been so MIA, I feel like I've missed so much...did I hear the word "challenge"? Heading over the the 1000 in 2010 details....now! :)
