My Little Pink Dots Giveaway

Thanks to EVERYONE for the comments yesterday. There was a lot of chatter about my running slow to go faster question. Jill (HERE) provided the perspective from a running coach, see here comment below:

Even as a running coach myself, preaching to all I train to run your long run slow, most do not. But you truly reap the benefits of recovering faster. The trick is to teach your body to run far, that's it. Now, you can, and I highly recommend, adding some Marathon Pace (MP) miles intermixed in your long run, somewhere in the middle, so your body adjusts to it. And every third week, I substitute a long run for MP run of about 11 miles so the body knows what to do. With taper, rest and carb loading, come race day, the legs just want to goooooo. But if they are overly tired from running too hard on long runs, they can't do it. Glycogen is key here and you don't want to run out too soon.

Thanks Jill!! I will follow the plan and mix in some MP miles..

While perusing the stores lately it is hard to miss the bright pink and red everywhere. Tell tale sign that Valentines Day is just around the corner.. I think that races where you are encouraged to wear costumes are FUN!! So here is my attempt at a Valentines costume, what you cant see is the cute Sweetheart socks I am wearing (Thanks Shelly).

Hmmmm... Close, but what am I missing????

Bloggy Pack member and Tall Mom friend TMB (HERE) can answer that question. TMB is STYLISH, so much so that she even impressed Bart Yasso with her recent race ensemble.. Her stuff is too cute! I have the most adorable little princess of a niece, this would be perfect!

I absolutely love her tutus and if I win one, I WILL WEAR IT FOR SEATTLE ROCK N ROLL. Mark my words....

Marlene said...

Oooh, I was # 3 too. :)

I became a follower of TMB. Looking forward to getting to know her.

Marlene said...

I became a fan of LPD on FB.

Marlene said...

#4 - fun question. :)

I think I'd have to say Pixie... I certainly don't think I'm a diva and princess sounds to girlie-girl for me.

Marlene said...

I linked this giveaway on today's post!

Marlene said...

I can't say that I have a really good tut memory or story... I didn't take ballet as a child and have never worn one, so clearly I have been deprived. :)

I loved all of Danica/Chic Runner's pics from the tute she wore during a recent marathon. So FUN!

melissa said...

Okay so I am officially a follower of pink little dots.

melissa said...

Also I think I would have to go with princess. I consider myself to nice to be a diva, and pixie sounds like a little girl. Also my hubby treats me like a princess, so I am going with princess.

Katie A. said...

I love all the bows! I think I have a race shirt that would match them all! I should probably try to girly up my race outfit :)

Katie A. said...

Already a follower of TMB! I loved reading her post on the Bermuda 1/2!

Katie A. said...

Just became a FB fan! Whoo hoo!

Katie A. said...

I am def a princess sort of girl! Not in the overly girly sense, but my hubbs likes to say, "don't they know who you are?" Exactly...only a princess could get a way with that :)

Good luck on the 6 miler today - Happy Hump day! :)

I want an adult sized tutu! Okay, it would be good to have one for my girls too, but I want one for me first! I was looking for a tutu for a race costume and couldn't find any! Good to know there is someone who understands that grownups need tutus, too!

Blonde Mom Runs said...

as for the tutu name, I guess I'll go with princess. I'm too big to be a pixie-lol, and too shy to be a diva.

Paige said...

I love the Pixie tutu! It would be the perfect gift for my niece!

omigoodness you and your give a ways! Too fun

1)Went to the site and SOO cute! Love all the ribbons. It's making me want kids to play dress up with!

2)I'm a follower of both her site and little pink dots!

3)I will become a fan on the book once I get home (can't access from work :(...)

4)Oh def Pixie... I'm so short! ... esp since moving to the midwest

5)I'll be posting the give a way on my blog now

6) I don't know if this is a good tutu memory but when i was in dance (like 3-4 years old) I love it, until they brought out tap shoes one day. I saw them, screamed, and ran out the door. Must have been attacked by tap shoes in a previous life or something..

Very cute outfit
!!!
I also want one of those tshirts you are wearing in pic of rock n roll marahton with go fast mel on it!! (except i want my name)

Steel Springs said...

TMB has tons of cute stuff! I love all of the little bows! My little cousin would look so cute in the pink Elizabeth bow.

Steel Springs said...

I follow Racing with Babes!

Steel Springs said...

I'd have to say that "Princess" describes me best. I wear a crown whenever I'm in public. Okay, that's not true, but I loved wearing a tiara at my wedding.

Steel Springs said...

I never had a tutu growing up, but I did take Tumbling and Ballet. Even when I was doing "ballet," it was heavy on the tumbling.

My only tutu memory is of a beautiful poster that I had on my wall. It was of two ballerinas who were wearing pink tutus. I think tutus can be so fun and cute, but also gorgeous and elegant.

Jill said...

Thanks for the plug, Mel :). Just holler if you ever have any questions. Marathon training plans are my specialty and I love helping (don't always know everything but I have tons of resources!!). You're the sweetest, thanks again!

I'm at work right now but will be back to enter in that adorable tutu drawing!!!

Happy Wed!

I would definitely be "THE DIVA". Do I need to say more?

www.runningdivamom.com

My daughter would absolutely love one of these. She outgrew all of her smaller dress up outfits and doesn't have too much for dress up clothes right now. She's participating in the kids race at the Disney Princess Half Marathon and has mentioned "dressing up in costume" for it. This would be perfect! My little princess would love one of these adorable tutus. Hope I win!!

Casey said...

Hi, Mel! I went to her page and I really love the little barrettes. I think that Ms. Violet will have thick thick hair and I am always on the look out for new hair accessories for her. <3

Casey said...

I am a follower of her!

Casey said...

..and a fan!

Casey said...

Physically, I am definitely not a Pixie. If they had one called Amazon or Athena...! But I am a pixie at heart. To me, a pixie looks like a character from "The Borrowers" and my clothes (especially running clothes!) are always mismatched. Pixies seem to be more fun and want to help others and love being outdoors, and I think that's me.

Morgan said...

1. I would get the 6" one for more poof factor! :)

Casey said...

Fav tutu memory. Okay. When the Dillards opened up here, I was 8. Mom and I were shopping around the Grand Opening and we went up stairs. It was like a freaking dream, I thought that I was hallucinating: There were scary MIMES wearing TUTUs EVERYWHERE! and a harp player. And balloons. And there weren't any other customers in that area! We were SO freaking out. We still talk about that. "Remember that freaky time when we went shopping and there were MIMES?!!" Oh, sidenote: Mom and I are afraid of clowns. A mime is pretty much a sophisticated clown, but worse at conversations.

Morgan said...

2. I became a follower of TMB

3. I also became a fan of FB :)

4. Pixie for sure. Pixie's are spunky and I am all spunk over here! Fiesty redhead anyone??? :)

Casey said...

Oh, and I will link you in my blog for today.

Morgan said...

6. My favorite tu-tu memory is to come... wait for it!

Hint: Breast Cancer Half Marathon next month... just saying... ;)

Melissa said...

I love the tutus!! My little girl would look so cute in one!!

Melissa said...

Now I'm a little pink dots follower!

Melissa said...

Diva best describes me because I have expectations of what I want and I expect that (from myself and others)

Melissa said...

I used to do dance lessons as a kid and we wore tutus. We had one that was white and we wore little dog ears and we were poodles. Too cute!

Zoë said...

1. What a cute little website! The bow barrettes are awesome, but man, I love the tutus!!
Hmmmm, perhaps I need one for a Valentine's race coming up? :)

Zoë said...

I follow TMB! She's amazing!

Zoë said...

I became a Fan on Facebook, too!

Zoë said...

Hmmm, well, compared to you, Tall Mom, I'd be a pixie. I'm littler, I suppose, perhaps dainty. :)

Zoë said...

Oh gosh, as a little girl I always wanted the professional style ballet tutu...you know, the ones that stick straight out? I finally got to wear a mini version of one for my first pointe performance when I was 11. :) It was the greatest feeling!

Libby said...

Everything is so cute! I love the tutus and I would love to get some of the bows on headbands for the days that I'm feeling super girly/preppy haha. What a cool giveaway! Of course I would want it for myself- the 6 incher

Libby said...

I am now a follower of TMB- I love finding new people to follow and learn from. Thanks

Libby said...

I am a fan of My Little Pink Dots on FB. I love that name, too cute

Libby said...

Even though I would want the Pixie I am definitely not a Pixie. I would never want to be shorter than I am, except when shopping for jeans, but that is becoming easier :)

According to my parents I am a Princess :) I am the only girl(besides my dog Maggie who is now a queen instead of a princess haha). I'm such a daddy's girl and he spoils me.

Libby said...

I never got to take dance as a child because I was the more athletic type-Tae Kwon Do, volleyball, and basketball. I was soooooo jealous of all those who were dancers. My senior year of high school our girl's basketball team went to and won state. My bestie and I made made tutus and got way decked out to go and cheer. We ended up sitting front row and skipped out on our pepband performance to cheer(even though the band was seated right next to us haha oops)

Alrighty Mel, I've linked back to you:

Looks awesome!

Put me down for another entry... I linked again today. HERE

Yes, I really want to wear the tutu for RnR. ;)

sillylisa said...

The bows are cute, but the tutus are AWESOME. I'd love to wear one for a race.

sillylisa said...

The Disney fan in me would like to think that I'm a princess. But in reality I'm probably more of a diva. A couple reasons that come to mind right away... I try to buy "new" whenever possible because I don't like used stuff. I tend to have an "I'm always right" attitude and get upset when things don't go my way.

RunningLaur said...

I'm crazy enough to wear a tutu around - in fact I'm having little day dream images of running in a neon green tutu right now :)

RunningLaur said...

and I'm following - yay cute things :)

RunningLaur said...

I think I'd be a pixie - I was raised with so many fairies around that it just seems normal to me!

RunningLaur said...

and linked back on my blog (on the sidebar)

RunningLaur said...

as for a tutu story, my mom and I always went to the faerie festival on May Day when I was at home. We didn't go too crazy with the outfits or anything, but it was for sure the best location for unique tutus and outfits around :)

Badgergirl said...

Love the stuff! The bows are super cute, but you can't go wrong with the tutu!

Badgergirl said...

I think I'd be a pixie. Princess and Diva just scream girly girl at me. And while I have some girly girl qualities, I'm definitely more pixie-like. A little tom-boyish, who likes to be outside and on the go.

Badgergirl said...

Became a fan of MLPD on facebook!

Badgergirl said...

I got to wear a tutu when I was in ballet in kindergarten. But then I broke my wrist and Mom never signed me up for dance lessons again.

Kerrie T. said...

Where have I been? I didn't know TMB had a cute little shop. This is when I wish I had a girl. LOVE the green bows with polka dots! And, of course, the tutus.

Tutu Description

For me, it's more of a process of elimination...

At 5'7" and 175 pounds, I am ANYTHING but Pixie. So, cross that one off.

When I think of Diva, I think of someone with a lot of confidence. Not me. Cross that one off.

OK. I'm not exactly a Princess, either, but I DID wear a tiara on my wedding day. Does that count? I think it does!

Voila! Princess!

Kerrie T. said...

Giveaway now posted on Mom vs. Marathon!

I have no tutu memories. HOW SAD!

See...this is why I need to win.
