Back to REALITY

"Back to life, Back to Reality..." Sorry if you get that obnoxious song stuck in your head... This is the first WORK day of the New Year and I plan to make it a GOOD one :) Below is the story of how I spent my last day of holiday break, and wow did I pack it ALL in

  • 10 Miles with Zoe:
This time Zoe picked the trail, I asked for HILLS and I got them.. It was a foggy day on the trail and rather spooky, think of the scene in the "Lord of the Rings" movie when the hand reaches out of the water, that kept popping into my head. I was VERY glad not to be alone. The trail was winding, with several traffic SPRINT crossings, an abandoned barn, and lots of people to watch. There was a guy who was running at a good clip with his hands in his pockets, I had to laugh, if I did that I would FALL for sure. My FAVORITE was the adorable little girl, maybe age 5, who was riding her pink bike while her Dad was running. I had to cheer her on, and let Dad know that he better catch up :)
The landscape was very Washington Winter, we have had a lot of rain so the puddles on the side were very full. At one point Zoe and I were being cheered on by a group of Ducks, we appreciated the encouragement.
Speaking of Encouragement, little Drill Sargent Z's knee was acting up so when we got to "Hell Hill" (her words not mine remember I am being POSITIVE) she said "You are running this!" Little did I know she would snap a picture, see me in all my Hill climbing glory.
It was ANOTHER wonderful run with a great buddy. I have mixed feelings heading into Marathon training with Fleet Feet. With Amanda, Zoe, Charity, Muscle Man and more to run with, I am not sure I want to give that up!! January 9th is the START, time will tell.
  • WII Bowling:
After lunch and catching up on SEVERAL emails to the Tall Mom box. We broke out the WII to bowl. Little Stud #1 got bored of playing after 2 tries, but was a great cheering section. I FINALLY figured out a way to get rid of the curve and bowled a high if 213. TOTALLY awesome for me, I even out-bowled Muscle Man, a rarity that may never happen again and will never happen in a real Bowling alley, my hubby has SKILLS..
  • VOLLEYBALL:
So what do you do after running 10 mile, oh yes play volleyball for 2 hours.. HMMMM?? The Hit List is back together to defend our 1st Place title. This year there is a new team on the scene and WOW are they good. Thankfully last night we were victorious, winning both matches!!
  • Today I am SORE and trying to adjust to the early AM wake-up. My Barista smiled when she saw my Pink travel mug this morning, I think it NEEDS a refill. Coffee is a MUST today..

  • HAPPY MONDAY!!

Awesome run and hill workout! I need a running buddy!
Love that you bowled a 213! That is very impressive for Wii bowling! I am not ready to get back to reality, I needed just one more week :(
Happy New Year my friend, and Happy Monday!

We had a Wii day yesterday as well, but we were playing Super Mario Brothers. My girls love watching.

I was not happy for Monday to come today, sad sad morning.

It was hard to get up this morning for me too! Glad to see you are just getting rain and not SNOW! I think I will be treadmilling it this week as temps stay in the teens and snow continues to fall!

I've been thinking about getting wii but I don't have kids. I'm worried my husband and I would get sick of it. but I want that wii fit so badly.

The guy running with his hands in his pockets cracks me up. I am definitely not that talented.

You and Zoe are too cute. Makes me wish I had a running buddy...(Well, I mean other than the hubby.)

Happy Monday!

just because you join the running group doesnt mean you have to give up your other training partners... you can do a mix of both or have one as backup when you need to change schedules, etc. plus you can meet some more new runner friends! awesome job on your 10 :)

That sounds like 1 VERY active day! Thanks for the comment on my blog :)

Ha ha! Hell Hill! Too funny! I wish I was doing the Fleet Feet with you but I think the added stress of Saturday childcare is a little much. :( But if you ever miss one of your training dates then you have some options!!!

Sounds like a good run! Minus the hills. I am hoping one day me and hills will get along better but for now we are not friends. lol

Happy Monday Mel!

Seriously jealous you get to run with all your bloggy friends ... I think I am going to have to buy a ticket and come out there for a training run!

Rock on with Wii Bowling ... I am horrendous at video games and a really poor loser, so I just avoid playing them all together.

Hope your first day back was good!

Nice job on the hills!

Hey TMOTR:

Thanks for the nice note.
I notice your last name is Faulkner. Do you or your husband have any relatives in Illinois?

Nice hill running!

My guys are loving Wii Sports Resort as it seems a bit easier for the younger one. I actually have a sore shoulder from trying to beat him at swordplay.

Nice job on the hills! And I totally wish I ran past encouraging ducks during my runs. I just get mad geese.
