Tall Mom Test Lab- Christmas List Edition

TALL MOM TEST LAB TUESDAY is being taken over by the Holiday Spirit today... I have been running seriously for about a year now and have learned so much about amazing products that RUNNERS want, need and hope for. Sooooo... I thought I would pass on my limited knowledge to all of you.

My idea, send the link to this post to you spouse, significant other, friends and family.. Comment on what you would most like to see under the Tree or in your Stocking. Then when they (I mean you) read the Post, they (you) can scan the comments, and Wowee they (you) know what you (he or she) wants :) (Wow made more sense in my mind)

Sound good? Well here we go...

BIG GIFTS and tear jerkers

Race Entry Fees
First make sure it is a race she/he wants to run. Then Register on their behalf, use Runner's World, Marathonguide.com, Active.com or simply Google the name of the race. If you have never run a race maybe it is a good time to do it with your Running love.. (Just a thought)

Plane Tickets & Hotel
If the last gift is a DESTINATION race, then the plane tickets and hotel would go along with the surprise.

Gift Cards to Running Store...for new SHOES... or whatever she/he needs

Garmin Running Watch
I only know the Garmin 305, any of the GArmin watches are GREAT for runners. Shop around because the Garmin site is not the cheapest.

AMAZING comprehensive list - thanks for compiling all of these goodies!

We are not doing Christmas gifts this year because of Cuba/Florida... but if I were to compile a list, it would definitely include many of the items you listed.

Love the idea of race fees! I have never thought of that! And I was just going over my race spreadsheet for 2010 (yes, I have a spreadsheet) and if I do all the ones I want it's well over $1000! I think I know what I am asking for! Have a great Tuesday! :)

I love all of these ideas. A handheld water bottle is next for me but I'm in no rush at the moment due to my injury.

A lot of those things are on my Christmas list!

Thanks for all the links, it's helping give my mom a list of things I want this year, I was thinking running gear but I didn't know where to begin.

Fantastic!! Thanks! I had never heard of "The Stick" but now I'm sure I need one!! There are several things listed that I had no idea I wanted until now!
My hubby is def getting a copy of this list!!

My hubs has an idea that a garmin and fuel belt are on my list, and this is a perfect reminder!

Great list! I'm in the market for new running tights, recovery socks and arm warmers, so I'll share your list with my hubby.

BTW, I run with some gloves I got at Eastern Mountain Sports. They are called the Women's powerstretch glove and they keep me warm down into the low 20s (colder than that I usually run inside...)

Oh, fantastic list!! Another gear website that I love is TeamEstrogen.com. They have fantastic gear for running, swimming, biking, triathlon, yoga...plus you can find some great deals in their closeout section. Plus cheap shipping to Canada!

My favourite pair of gloves for winter running are the Brisk Run gloves from lululemon. I love them so much that when I lost a pair on a run I had to replace them stat. They block the wind, keep the fingers warm, and have a handy key pocket.

My parents pay for two of my race entires each year and it makes a HUGE difference!! You listed some great ideas- thanks for putting it together :) I love how colorful your posts always are- that is a gial of mine for the upcoming year with my own blog. :)

Man, I love lists. This is a great one! I had to look up that stick, though. I'd never heard of it. Looks cool!

Great post!! I'd love the salt stick - sounds exactly what I need.

I did have the Garmin on my list this year, and told my FIL that was what I wanted. He then pulled out a Garmin he had and told me he never uses the thing so I could have it!!! So now I'm asking for my race registration to the Disney half marathon, $120 is not cheap.

I think you covered all the running bases. :)

GREAT list! I love it! Plane tickets would be wonderful!

I've asked my husband for a jump rope. Funny, I know! But, it's a great workout and will definitely be a good addition to cross training. Now, I just have to re-teach myself how to do it! I haven't jump roped since elementary school!

i'm sure this will be a helpful list for many runner's out there!

i am struggling to think of anything i want or need - running or real life. i guess that is a good problem to have!

How cool! What a great idea! I think the thing I would like the most is the Road ID. I may just stuff my own stocking with that! :)

Derek said...

I'm still looking for a faster pair of legs! Seriously, a great list for every runner.

Stacie said...

Awesome list!!! I can't wait to share it. I would LOVE a Garmin. I'm also needing new shoes, recovery socks, and arm warmers. Entry fees would be great too.

A website I love is www.runningskirts.com. They have great clothing and just added new products for the cold. Perfect timing. Cindy & Christy are sisters who run and I have several of their skirts. They would make great gifts also.

love the list ... sending it to the hubby!

On my list is a Garmin 310XT - Although I am currently rocking the 305, I wouldn't mind the upgrade.

I also want a headlamp, a winter cap with a ponytail hole, and this cool wristband storage thing I saw at REI. And I'd always be happy with yet another running skirt!

Okay, this looks like my actual Birthday/Christmas list I sent to my family, no lies! The thing is, a lot of these things are REALLY the things I want... and running (triathlons) can get expensive!

Rookie on the Run said...

Excellent list! All of those things are great suggestions... my Garmin 305 was my (early) Christmas present. :) I love the stocking stuffers you listed. Stocking gifts are my favorite kind!

Kelly said...

Awesome list...all I want for Christmas is to be able to run again period haha.

Then after that, all that stuff haha

What a fantatic idea. I have about 5 of these on my list already. I'm all about the Lululemon stuff for Christmas since I'd never buy it for myself, but I always want it.

Nice list! I'll have to leave my laptop on with this screen conveniently on when the hubby passes by later today. ;)

Badgergirl said...

I love the list. So many good ideas. I've been dropping hints on the Garmin to my parents. I wonder if they'll take the hint. :)

Christina said...

This is the most comprehensive list I have ever seen. Can you put a link to it on your sidebar for easy reference in the future? One thing I didn't see on the list and I have asked Santa for are compression socks.

Michelle said...

Great list! Thanks for the ideas!

Anonymous said...

I would love a new Garmin but I don't need one--One thing to add to your list--The Foam Roller :)

Lynette said...

I already asked Santa for new shoes...thankfully the girl at the Brooks Outlet wrote everything down on a card so Santa has an easy job this year! And she told me a tip--Take your shoe size and subtract 1.5 sizes from it. Then look and see if that size is available in GIRLS sizes (mine is) and try on THOSE shoes. YES it worked!!! I couldn't believe it. It can save you lots of $$$. It's gonna make my shoes $20 cheaper, and that really adds up!!!
