High Five Friday

DECISIONS Decisions decisions.. Overall I consider myself a GOOD decision maker, but apparently when it comes to races I am NOT. I had made up my mind and posted that I would run the Tacoma Marathon for my Return to the Marathon.... It seemed like the best decision for time, money, travel, etc... Last night as I thought about it more I am just not excited to run Tacoma...AT ALL!!

My heart and excitement is with this Marathon...
Training with Fleet Feet Bonney Lake starts on January 9th and if I am going to put everything into this training cycle it better be for a race that I am excited about..

I talked to Muscle Man, cashed in my "Whatever you Want" that I earned by doing 110 bicep curls and it is decided.. Sorry local cheering section, I will be headed to Oregon to run the Eugene Marathon for my second attempt at a GREAT Marathon..

i was going to email you about this... you HAVE to go with your heart for these races. i tried to force a "non-heart" race and it just doesnt work. especially for a marathon and a BQ attempt, the heart MUST be there. i also really believe that there is such thing as "too small" when it comes to marathons, which tacoma might have been for what you are trying to achieve in this race. i am so happy its worked out. eugene is a great race, awesome course, well organized, and you get to finish on hayward field this year!!! what could be better :) i have a couple of friends doing it, i will have to pass you along their blog info too!

That's so great that you'll be running Eugene too! And you're still in time for the lower registration prices. Right now I don't know if I'll have anyone coming with me to cheer me on; it will be nice to know at least one other person there! Hey, maybe once the weather gets nicer and you're down in Wilsonville we can road trip down and check out the course.

Woo-hoo for Eugene! You'll definitely race better and have more fun if it's where your want to be!! So excited to hear about the training. It's going to be awesome!

I deserve a high five today for surviving my first week back running and for not losing my mind with getting ready for our third road trip in as many weeks!

yay for deciding on a marathon!

You will LOVE Eugene; I've done it twice and might even do it again next spring. The course is great, there are two hills early on the course; but nothing to worry about and you get to finish on the track at Hayward Field in 2010!

Thanks for the shout-out, Mel! Hope you have a fantastic weekend! Oh, and Eugene looks awesome (way better than Tacoma), so you should have a blast. :)

"cashed in my "Whatever you Want" that I earned by doing 110 bicep curls" - LOL, love it.

It's important to be EXCITED about the marathon, so it sounds like you made a good choice.

Toronto would have been better, though. ;)

Happy Weekend!

I've heard good things about Eugene -- and it is such a running community so it should be fun!

Thanks for your kind words, btw. I hope I didn't creep you out ;-)

Have a great weekend!

If you're going to train for a marathon, it should be one you're really passionate about. Great to hear you made your choice!

Lisa said...

Totally agree that if you are going to train for a race then it should be one that you really want to race. Congrats on the decision. Training is just around the corner.

Forgot to thank you for the really nice comment you left on my blog. I know there is a meaning for all of this... I'll just have to wait and see what it is. Have a great weekend Mel.

I'm glad you're going to be doing a race that you're excited about, that is so important for you to run your best race.
The hardest thing for me is choosing a race because I want to make sure I pick the best one for me. I like lots of people and lots energy, that's what gets me excited!

Denise said...

very good decision!! you need to be excited to keep you going through the tough parts of training!

A marathon (again)! I'm impressed!

Hope your weekend is going well, I love your blog and how much STUFF is going on all over the place!

I have a 10K on Saturday the 19th, that I'm going to royally SUCK AT, but it's ok, the entry fee was only 10 dollars plus an unwrapped toy, so SCORE!
