Tall Mom Test Lab Tuesday

I TRIED to come up with a graphic to go with my theme...but I ran out of time...so stay tuned for that.. This is a day I dedicate to all things that I review...Running, Eating and Living.

Brooks Trance 9's(HERE):

What Brooks Says:
In 2008, our flagship Support shoe introduced BioMoGo to the world. In 2009, the Trance™ 9 unveils the new-and-improved Progressive Diagonal Rollbar (PDRB®), delivering unsurpassed cushioning and effortless, but supportive, heel-to-toe transition. Did we mention plush? You’ll feel so much premium plushness in these puppies, you may never want to take them off! Weight: 9.7 oz

Tall Mom Thoughts:
I love the coloring of this shoe because it matches with everything!! I am between sizes on the Trance 9's so I have a pair that is a little too big. This works well for days when my feet are swollen after a long run. I also find that I wear these nearly every day just because they feel so good. Light, airy and very well made.

*Battle Tested. Tall Mom Approved

Chips Ahoy 100 Calorie Bars:
I eat one of these every morning with a cheese stick. YUM!! It is like having a candy bar for breakfast. I know these probably don't have the highest nutritional value..but when I was trying to lose weight, these were my snack of choice not to break the calorie bank.
Muscle Man and I were VERY LATE to jump on the Twilight bandwagon. My speed reader hubby has read the Harry Potter series from cover to cover several times and needed something new. So we borrowed the Vampire inspired series from Tall Grandma. He read the THICK first book in a matter of days (I envy those who can consume books quickly, I am a book nibbler, AKA Slow reader). We then rented the movie which I LOVED!! Mind you I am a teeny bopper movie fan.

Watching Oprah, while taking care of sick Muscle Man, I discovered that the books are the brain child of a 35 year old stay at home mother of 3!! WHAT? Inspiring! This week is a BIG WEEK for fans (fanatics) as the new movie comes out.. I have yet to read a book, but I am sure I will be sucked in soon. And I can't wait to see New Moon.

Drymax Extreme Running (HERE):

What Drymax says:
While distance running, feet get hot and perspire, causing socks to become wet. Moisture significantly increases friction (stickiness) between socks and skin. The higher the friction, the greater the chance of getting blisters. Higher friction limits skin surface movement, yet still allows inner tissue movement causing a shearing effect. This physically separates the two layers which fill with fluid, forming a blister

Tall Mom Thoughts:
I won these socks from a Giveaway on Run Like a Girl. AND they could not have come at a better time. The RAINY season has hit the Seattle area. I wore these socks on my LONG run this weekend, as I hopped through puddles my toes stayed dry. The technology WORKS!! It is like Magic.

Purple Carrots:

My Office Mom, the lady who brings me food and Gossip Magazines, had a bag of carrots on her desk. When you think carrots you think Orange, Right? WRONG!! She had a bag with Orange, Yellow and (GASP) Purple Carrots. Baffled I did a quick Google search and on Carrot museum I learned "It is considered that purple carrots were then taken westwards where it is thought yellow mutants and wild forms crossed to produce orange." I had to try the oddly colored veggie. Verdict...tasted like a carrot crossed with a beet, or maybe I was just projecting the flavor on it. Either way very yummy and very weird!

  • I hope you enjoyed this segment of Tall Mom Test Lab Tuesday. If you are counting this is post #299.. What will #300 bring?? Stay tuned to find out..

Can't wait for post #300!
Love me some Twighlight books. The movie was good also, although, after the previews I'm wondering why people are all "Team Edward". I really really think that the teenager in me is "Team Jacob". MMMMMMM

Purple carrots... wow. and weird.

I def need some of those socks.
I have read all the Twilight books. (The author is LDS) I did not care for Twilight the movie, I felt very disappointed. I don't think Robert Pattenson is very good looking and simply just odd looking. But I am still very excited about New Moon. jacob is a cutie.

I love Chips Ahoy but try to stay away cause duh they are cookies! But those look good!

And Twilight? I can't get enough of it.

i have never seen/heard of purple carrots! where do you get these????? lol. i love beets tho, so i want to try.

also-- i love oprah sometimes!!!!!! :)

AND! twilight!!!!!!!! YES!!!! i adore your term "book nibbler" but i think i am more like muscle man when it comes to these books. i distinctly remember staying up til 3am twice for two of the books. i exercised amazing restraint and waited for the first 3 from the library but by the time i got to the 4th book i said screw it i am going to buy it so i did. lol. do you own them all? and I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE NEW MOON cuz i adore jacob, have been team jacob from the beginning (there was never any question in my mind, i wonder what makes a team jacob vs team edward person... hmmm).

happy tuesday!!!! love the test lab as usual :) i think the very first time i came to tall mom it was a test lab post. tall mom approved!!!! :)

Test Lab Tuesday - I love it!

Ahhh, Brooks shoes. I have to wear motion control (UNFORTUNATELY) and Brooks are just too clunky for me. They did carry me through my first year of running, though.

TWILIGHT! EEEEEEEEEEEEEE! I read the books over Christmas break last year (yes in a week) and LOVED them so much. I am DYING to see the next movie this Thursday. I had wanted to re-read the books first but didn't get around to it. You need to rtead them!!!

Zoƫ said...

I've already re-read all the Twilight books in prep for the new movie. It's addicting for sure! You'll love it! :)

Purple carrots eh? That does sound strange. But I bet they are high in nutritional value.

Alisa said...

Purple carrots do look interesting.

I tried to love Drymax socks but I really just don't.

I'm on book 4 of Harry Potter and started the serious two weeks ago =).

I think I read the Twilight series in a week flat! It was one of those love to hate them books. The movie was absolutely laughable it was so bad. Do watch it when you need a good laugh!

P.S. I'm running the EWEB Run to Stay Warm 1/2 in Eugene on Saturday, I think I'm already on your calendar for a HIGH FIVE =).

I LOVE the 100 calorie chips ahoy packs. I am a hyperhydronic and my hands and feet sweat ALL the time. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Wright's Socks. Hands down the best for super sweaty feet. No blisters with these babies...even at 26.2! Try them.

First of all...CAN'T WAIT TO SEE NEW MOON! i totally neglected my child for 4 days while I read all 4 books plus the online one that is from Edwards perspective! My eyeballs nearly fell out of my head from reading for 96 hours straight!

Second, I neeed socks to keep my feet dry. I was soaked to the bone after Sunday's run!

Third, i LOVE yellow carrots but never tried purple! I'll have to look into it!

Looking forward to post 300!

We go to a farmer's market almost every weekend and it always amazes me the types of carrots and other veggies the farmers show up with! Purple potatoes are fantastic too!

Um, I have to try those socks! They sound perfect!

Have a great day!

OMC, you are just getting on the Twilight Saga bandwagon? You *so* need to read the books. I love vampire lore so this is right up my alley.

Can't wait for #300!!

ugh, i have been trying to read twilight for almost a year now! STILL haven't finished the first book! i just cant get into it. I read a few pages then fall asleep. I thought about trying books on tape to listen to while i run but i worry that i won't pay attention (to the book OR the road!)My new years resolution for 2010 is to read 1 book a month!!!

WHOAAAA purple carrots? Whatt? Crazy. Hope they taste ok :)

You aren't kidding about the rain being here again. Geez! I did enjoy those 2 hours of sunshine today, though!

We watched Twilight a few weeks ago and now I'm finally intrigued enough to get the books (I'm not really into vampires, etc, so I was hesitant to read them). I am afraid that I won't be able to put the books down once I start, so I have to finish up a few projects first! :)

Your Brooks might fit well if you get some inserts for them - that's how mine ended up being a better fit and now I like them so much I'm on my 3rd pair!

I enjoyed the reviews. I've never heard of the Chips Ahoy bars. I'll have to give those a try. I now also need to try purple carrots. Those sound wonderful!

J said...

purple carrots! OMG how crazy!! Can't believe it. Looks like you have been one busy girl testing things out!

Love the reviews. Always on the lookout for some good socks.

Not into Twilight, but I love vampires and werewolves. Checkout the Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris and/or Kelley Armstrong's Women of the Otherworld books. Great Stuff.

Kelly said...

I JUST (as in yesterday) got sick of listening to all the hype and I am officially about 5 pages into the book right now. I don't know if I'll ever be quite as crazy as everyone else.

Tall Mom Test Lab Tuesday has a similar sound to Taco Tuesday . . .

While I know that the purple carrots are natural - they remind me of the purple and green catsup that was on the market years ago. My son had to have some and of course I bought it - although it tasted the same - there was just something about eating purple catsup that was disturbing. What we don't do for our kids.

Since I am not a fan of beets - I think I will pass on the purple carrots.

Kerrie said...

LOL! "...sucked in..." Hehehe. I'm not a fan of Twilight; we can discuss off line. :)

Thanks again for the run today!

Mel-2nd Chances said...

hmmm, not a fan of beets, so i wonder how i'd do with purple carrots! LOL

I <3 purple carrots. My CSA had them a few times this summer.

I've never seen a purple carrot before...I'd try it. :) The author of the Twilight books reportedly lives in the same county as me, but she is a very private person.

Purple carrots! I love the USA!

I'm going to see New Moon tonight at midnight with some buddies from work. Can't wait! Midnight popcorn and a night out when it's a "School Night".

Have a great day Mello! :)

Purple carrots sound yummy!

I wish you were coming with us to see the movie this weekend...any chance you can get a babysitter and come? Sunday at 1:30..so we can make it to your game:) I read all four books in two days...and then the online book from Edward's perspective in another couple hours...They're just FUN!

I can't wait to get my Brooks shoes. They told me to try a kids size 7 instead of my usual womens size 8.5/9. It fits great and I am saving $20!

I just downloaded Twilight onto my iPhone tonight! I kept hearing my friends talk about it and then there was something about her being on Oprah so I figured I would give it a shot. I am actually in the middle of Time Traveler's Wife, but like you, I don't get through books very fast. I think I read at a different pace, it is just a matter of finding the time to sit down and read them. So I have been reading Time Traveler for a while, which is why I could never be in a book club!!

Lots of information to process... and too little brain cells to digest it all tonight.

My brain cell-challenged thoughts:

Love the shoes! Airy and comfy is good.

I want a Tall Grandma!

Purple carrots? Hmmm...

And I can't remember what else I was going to say... I think I need to get to bed.

G'night, Tall Mom!!

Loved the lab! I am dire need of some new socks so may have to check these out along with the purple carrots.

Purple carrots....interesting.

Read. Twilight. Now. I'm heading out to the movie on Friday (yes, I can't wait to sit in a theater full of squealing teenage girls).
