CAKE and Running it off

I don't often show pictures of food on my Blog, mainly because I don't cook, or bake. I have posted a couple photos of scrumptious cupcakes from the table at work. Today I would like to unveal the Masterpiece that is The Star Wars 4th Birthday cake.
Dun Dun... Dun Dun...Dun.. Dun Dun....
Muscle Man and I built a lego fortress wall around the entire LARGE cake. Note: it is much easier to write on a cake in cursive. The cake has grass, water, dirt, a Tie Fighter and several Start Wars Characters.. And yes we have nearly half of it left. UGH!!! Pretty darn proud of how it looked and tasted.
Above was last year's CARS themed cake, I think we have really outdone ourselves this year. Man what will we do next year???
We watch the Cake Boss and other bakery themed shows. Watching others create amazing masterpieces makes you feel as if it is doable. Props to the pros because it is not easy.
  • What have you watched on TV that made you feel you could try something you had never done before? How did it turn out?
Back to my regular Running schedule tomorrow, thank goodness I ate my weight in snakcs, pizza and cake. It is very weird not having a race on my calender, hoping to remedy that and get registered for my next MARATHON (AKA Marathon redemption or M-Day #2). I think I have it narrowed down to one of the following:
Whidbey Island
Tacoma
Eugene
Vancouver B.C.
***My Criteria. Late April, or Early May. Within non-flight proximity to Puyallup, WA. If you have any other options I should consider please let me know.

I have to admit, I'm really bad at getting out there and reading new blogs. I get overwhelmed easily...as you can probably tell from my blog. :-)

But I really love what you've done with your blog...I have a lot of catching up to do!

OH MY GOSH- THAT CAKE IS SOOOOOOOO AWESOME. I can't believe that someone who says they don't cook or bake pulled that out, I could never do that (and I do watch those shows, but I am just like wow thats amazing I will never be able to do that haha). Might be hiring you to make some bday cakes in the future...

Wow! I so don't have the patience to do a cake like that! It looks awesome!

We watch a ton of HGTV and when we lived in our own home we were always doing or thinking up projects. We rent right now so we have withdrawals all the time LOL :)

Great cake!I bet Blaine loved it and thought that his parents were both culinary geniuses. I hope you manage to get rid of all the leftovers.

I don't watch a whole lot of TV...mostly news type things cause I am a total dork. I do watch Ultimate Cake Challenge sometimes and I WISH I could do that kind of stuff. You cake looks great and you should be very proud of your efforts!

Cool cake!

I can say that tv has probably influenced a lot if my life - and most of it being from shows like the office (not exactly inspirational!).

For your high 5 Friday, I have a 10 mile race next sunday the 15th, an I totally expect to PR. Just gotta keep that mental outlook in check!!

Wow. That cake is freakin' awesome!

I've never tried anything I've seen on TV. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing...

well, last year my son wanted Tie Fighter Cup Cakes and (yes, that's AND) a DEATH STAR CAKE. Pictures are posted in the blog archive under September 08. That was pretty much the last time I watched anything on the food network because MY cakes were cute and all that, but I didn't have anyone to come in and clean up behind me as I cooked. The kitchen was a disaster.

In the mean time, on other notes- this Saturday (wow) is my first marathon, Richmond, and I will be taking your "what I learned" all the way with me. You're an inspiration to me - TMI and all. Thanks for all you do!

Congrats on your half marathon win :)

Hi there! I had to write because I am also a TALL mom who happens to run. I am only 5'11" though :) I also have boys like you and had my 3rd boy in January. My oldest boys are 4 and 6. I just had to write to you because we seem to have several things in common. I also have to tell you that my oldest boy is Blake and when we were considering names for the 2nd boy, Blaine was one of our choices.

My boys would have loved this cake...they LOVE Star Wars. I love the lego wall you made for it. Great job!

Ok, I just read your profile and another similarity...I also met my husband online!!!

See!!! This is why you rock!!! Who goes out and spends this much time on a cake with a LEGO surrounding??? Awesome :D

My problem would be the missing pieces when the cake is finished. I cant help but munch on my creations whilst I make them haha!

I agree with Marlene go for Vancouver!!

I love watching extreme home makeover, it always reminds me to be thankful for what I have, and that nothing is impossible to do if you put a little effort in.

happy running!
