Applause

Yesterday Kelly wrote about why she loved Blogging HERE. It made me think and write. My LONG comment included these words:

I Love Blogging because back in the day when I was in college I had a cheering section...Fans who would applaud when I did well. As a Wife, Mom and Career woman the applause is nearly silent. But in Bloggy land people are so positive and FUN! We are all cheering for each other. There for the ups and the downs. It makes me smile to read about achievements of others and to post my own.

When I played sports I prided myself on being LOUD and cheering on my teammates. Today I am still the crazy high-fiving, yelling, ball of encouragement...not quite the norm for Runners...I am lucky to get a return wave. But not here... The Blog is a forum for all of us to celebrate all that we do, big and small. You are all amazing!! Truly, I am excited to read the comments of encouragement, humor and inspiration.

To raise a hand and give a cyber-clap or high five. To make ourselves and others smile and feel like just for a moment we can hear the echo of applause.

  • What do you deserve applause for today??

Edit Added after post: OK I am about to cry right now. I am honored and floored by the amazing words of Jill HERE.. Jill takes the time to recognize Bloggers and somehow I made the cut? Just when I am posting about Applause and the amazing support in this community. All I can say is Thank You! And to clear things up...I am in no way super-human :)

For running 1/2 a mile yesterday and stopping ( because of docs orders) not because of too much pain!!
There was pain, a little bit, but not so much that I had to stop!!

I also did Jillians 30 Day shred which I found on Excersise on Demand for free!!

So applause for my first attempt at any exercise at all in over 2 weeks!!

Yay, I loved your comment :) It was something I never thought about. But it's true its so fun to give others applause and to get it yourself!

I deserve applause today because I am going to finish my parent/teacher conferences! Whoa hoo! Only two more to go...but by the time I get home tonight, none!

I love the supportive blogging community SO MUCH!!! You deserve applause for your awesome half! I probably could use some applause for getting up at 6:30 to run this morning. In college student world, thats UNHEARD of, haha.

I got in a six mile run yesterday, so today is a rest day and I'm able to knock off all the items on my to do list!

I like what you wrote about the virtual cheering section, it's so true.

I am in a blogging funk. My stats are going down and I am kinda sick of the format of blogging my food! Any ideas of how to increase readership?

I swore when I saw your post in my Google Reader that your post was titled Applesauce. Even the picture looked like applesauce to me. I think I need to get my eyes checked. :)

I deserve applause for listening to my body and not running this week. It is KILLING me to not run every morning, I have never taken this many days off from running in SO long.

Cool post.

Applause... I love it. We bloggers do applaud one another, don't we? It's nice to know people are always cheering for you, rooting for you and supporting you, even if these are people we don't even know in "real life".

I applaud YOU, my friend.

Jill's words are very true. You go above and beyond the role of a 'typical' blogger and you always seem to keep track of what and how we are all doing. How do you do it? I can barely keep track of myself most days. ;)

PROPS!

It seems an appluase is in order for YOU because you are featured over on Finishing is Winning! :)

I get applause for finding my motivation after a 3 day hiatus. :)

I folded the laundry as soon as it came out of the dryer and put it away. This is big folks. Typically, it sits in a basket for a 1/2 day or more before being put away...

I do have my first 10K this weekend, so can you send me some "finish strong" vibes?

I love blogging for that very reason. I love that you always are giving high fives and kuddos to people in your blog.

I could not agree more. I am not sure if I deserve it, but it sure is nice.

I totally agree. A lot of the group motivation that I miss from college/team sports is here in blogland...and you're an excellent motivator.

Too funny that robinbb from above thought your post was titled Applesauce ... that is the same thing I *thought* I read when I opened my reader! Maybe I'm hungry .. hmm.

For getting outside even though I am out of town.

Sorry for the cryptic comment yesterday. You just mentioned in the post that we need to focus on a direction. I was just wondering if you had decided to focus on a specific race. I guess I shouldn't blog and fly :)

I finished knitting a new dishcloth! It was my first time reading a knitting pattern all by myself. Not an easy task!

My applause is for applauding others! I know what you mean about runners rarely waving back; I'm always giving the people passing me on the out and back a big grin. Which basically means, "yes I'm slow. No, I'm okay, you don't need to call an ambulance. Yes, I always get this red during exercise. I'm pale." Most people don't even acknowledgment the smile. Although maybe they think it's the grimace of chest pains or something. I do get really red when I run.

I think TallMom is awesome!!

Girl, you are SUCH a positive force on the internet. If we lived in the same place, I'd totally make you be my friend. :o)

I think we all blog to get support and applause from each other. I mean no one asks about my running at work - no one wants to hear about it really so its nice to have a place to talk about it and have people be happy for your accomplishments!

For avoiding candy and sweets today.

Bloggy Runners/Athletes have the BEST cheering section around!

I deserve applause because I've been spending more time enjoying my kids than "farming" on Facebook.

I also deserve applause because I acknowledge that I'm physically weak and am trying to increase my strength... this will help my running AND everything else.

You ROCK, Tall Mom! You motivate me to keep doing and being my best.

Zoƫ said...

I'm a cheering runner, too. :)

HIGH FIVE to you for being wicked awesome, Tall Mom!

I deserve applause today because I ran 3.5 miles, worked 6 hours with my littlest, then picked up my middlest, picked up the pizza fund raisers, brought all back to work with me for 2 more hours and tonight I'll do an hour and a half of P90x yoga. And LOVE IT ALL!

You have the BEST blog!! I always feel lifted after reading and that is exactly what I need lots and lots of days. thanks so so much!
