200 Strong

When I logged in this morning I was AMAZED to see that the Bloggy Running Pack (AKA Official Followers listed on the right side bar) is now at 200 Strong!! What? Really? Gosh I better get a Giveaway soon before you all RUN away ;)

Not sure what to say in this post, rare I know... lets just go with

5 things for the 5th

1. I have not run this week, not once. My body was very sore after my race and a tough 2 hours of volleyball on Sunday. I have 118.9 miles left to reach my goal of 1,000 miles in 2009. With 9 weeks left this year that is 13.1 miles a week. So I just have to run a Half Marathon every weekend or any variation of distances throughout the week :) Totally doable..

2. My left knee (ACL repair and torn meniscus, 2 surgeries in 01 and 03) is acting up which is very scary to me. When I was trying on pants for work this week I realized just how off balance my quad muscles are, my right leg was tight in the pants and left leg was loose. NOT GOOD!! I need to start strength training to balance that out ASAP. Thankfully I have Muscle Man, an almost personal trainer in my own house :)

3. I have never tried an Egg Nog Latte, I am afraid it will be too sweet. I think I will test it out as a treat this week.

4. J has REALLY cool ideas for Holiday running and gift exchange ideas.. We will be working out the kinks and tag teaming in December. Fun Times ahead.

5. Please leave a comment and introduce yourself and/or let me know your next race or big life event. I TRY to make it around to as many Blogs as I can....when you comment it makes it so much easier. Thanks to everyone in the Bloggy Pack and those who read in silence. Makes a Tall Mom's dimples shine. Hugs!!

Congratulations on the 200! You also do a wonderful job of maintaining your blog, keeping it fun and real.

I hope the knee will be OK!

I've never tried eggnog latte, either. I might have put eggnog in coffee, but the latte part intrigues me!

PS
I have a 5k this weekend and a half marathon on the 15th. :)

YES! i want to jump on the holiday running/gift exchange!!!! what a fabulous idea!!!!!!!!

do NOT worry about the running, that will take care of itself. we all ebb and flow.

the KNEE however (and mine was the left, too! but only one surgery-- you needed two????)-- maybe in addition to weights/exercises, just jump on the bike for awhile here and there as warm up/cool down. help with your quads!

happy thursday!!!!!!!!!!

I want an Eggnog Latte right now!!! I wonder if they have those in my little hick town at the gas station..lol!

I really enjoy reading your blog. I don't really talk to many people about running because they just don't understand. It's great to be in the company of people who share a common interest.

This weekend I will be running my 22nd race of the year, which happens to be in my town-Beavertown 5k.

Just found your blog yesterday! Fun to read. I'm training for my first marathon coming up Jan.9th. Love reading others journeys in the world of running.

Suzy said...

Twist my arm...I'll comment. I hope you can work on balancing your quads out. Best to keep injuries away. Next big thing isn't a race but an exam this weekend...comprehensive exam which is basically to see if I get to graduate with my masters or not. :-s

Ohh, hope your knee get's better and doesn't turn into anything. :)
You probably just need to rest up. :)You ran a great race!
Eggnog latte = YUM!!

We follow because you are great - not because of the free stuff. Let me know if you need help with the holiday stuff, I would love to be a part of it.

Hi. My name is Valerie. I very recently started my own blog, but have been reading (and enjoying) your blog for a couple of months now. I'm currently training for the Gobbler Grind half marathon in Olathe, Kansas. Race day is Nov 22nd.....quickly approaching!

Hi! I have been following your blog for the past few weeks. I really enjoy it, and am really impressed with your fast (running) times!

I did the Chicago Marathon a few weeks ago. It was my second marathon, and a PR for me (4:41:40).

My next event is the Chickamauga Battlefield Half Marathon on November 14th. I am nervous, because I haven't fully recovered from Chicago. We'll see!

You're definitely going to reach those 1000 miles this year!

I'm doing a 5K run on November 29th in my hometown and have plans to run on December 31th but haven't decided on the distance yet.

Well, looks like you're over 200 now! Just proves what a great blog you have going here! It's always interesting to read and your constant encouragement is uplifting! Have a great day! I hope your knee feels better soon.

Hi, my name is Marlene and...

you know everything about me already. ;)

COngrats on reaching 200. You are popular! And I can see why. :D

Holiday gift exchange... sounds fun.

I hope your knee is okay and that MM can offer some good strengthening ideas. I've always been told that strong quads will make it easier on the knees.

Kasey said...

holiday running and gift exchange- I can't wait! that stinks about the knee- get it better!

Kasey said...

oh yeah- my race is Nov. 22- first 1/2 marathon.

Rachel Wasserman said...

Hi! I'm Rachel. I've been secretly reading and enjoying your blog for a few weeks now. I just ran my first race ever last weekend (Spirit of Pittsburgh Half Marathon relay) and am hoping/planning to run with Nittany Valley Half Marathon on December 6. I just took up running about 7 weeks ago and your blog is inspiration.

I hope your knee quiets down. In my experience its really important to make sure to give equal time in strength training to quad and hamstrings in order to protect one's knees (and back and IT band).

Tom, Lynette, and family said...

Hi, my name is Lynette and...oh wait I know YOU! :P Aren't I going to see you this weekend? And next? Two weekends in a row? Yeah, that's right. Our children't birthdays...how could I forget!?

You have so many followers, because you are fun, fabulous, and friendly...just some of the reasons I am lucky to call you my friend!

Please take it easy on that knee, and I'll see you in a couple days!

J said...

I have noticed that my quads are different sizes too - hopefully with some strength training you will be all set!

I am going to try a gingerbread latte tomorrow i think! We will see how it is!

I am so excited about the holiday stuff!

Hey there, Tall Mom -

You know me, too... sending my hello from Orlando. :-)

Not liking what I'm hearing about your knee, friend. You know my thoughts on that: Stay off Injury Avenue! And yes, you are right: we have pain that we can push through, and then the cr** that slows us down and has to be addressed. I know you'll proceed w/ caution.

Egg nog latte??? Totally decadent and definitely the season.. enjoy! (yes, VERY sweet!)

So, look at you, hitting 200 in the pack and now having all these folks introduce themselves. How cool is that? Nothing like lots of bloggy love, right?? :-)

Looking forward to hearing more about the holiday gift exchange... working on a few ideas, too.

Yes, 1,000 by year's end is totally doable for you!

And finally, thanks for swinging by earlier today. Yes, the turtles are already shaking in their shells at the thought of a hurricane in November, but hey, it is Florida, after all! (Still bites!) Caution: Redhead says she won't run in it... ha! Bet she does!

Hugs from Orlando...where we run through hurricanes! LOL

Robin

Really enjoyed your blog and thought I'd introduce myself. I'm another Mum-of-boys. I have 3 but they're a lot older than yours. Running is my sanity and I'm contemplating my first marathon next year. I just have to get through overtraining syndrome first.

I love your positive blog! I haven't ran like I'd hoped this week. Totally too sore too for no reason though. I have nothing coming up and it's kinda depressing! Congrats on 200 followers, we don't come for the givewaways ;)

You have the best blog. I know I've already said that but you do! I told myself I'd read until I finish your blog (I'm behind on my reading!! because of p90x) and the get to bed.
I didn't realize you'd had 2 knee surgeries! Ouch. I will pray that the acting up is nothing more serious.
You asked about my next race. The only registered race I have right now is a benefit 5k Nov 21st. (A local teenager with cancer) I was to do a marathon in Sparks MD but it sold out due to it's anniversary and my lack of registering - it's a small race so I've alwasy been able to sign up right before the fee increase with no problem. Oh well, I'll keep looking for other races.
Bloggie Hugs.

Hi Tall Mom!! Thanks for commenting on my blog the other day- about knees- now you're having troubles! I don't think I jinxed you- I don't do that to new friends!!
My knees have settled down- I think it was just a bit of natural inflammation from starting out. They hassled again this week, but have in general been much better behaved than they were when I started!
I like your high five thing- very friendly idea!
