little PINK Giveaway

During Breast Cancer Awareness month I will have a few giveaways....this is the first "little" giveaway.. Hint Hint as the month goes on the prizes get BIGGER.

This Giveaway is sponsored by Gu Energy (Website Store HERE).

What will you WIN?

1 Packet of Gu Chomps Cranberry Appple: GU Chomps utilize GU Energy Gel's proven blend of carbohydrates, amino acids, antioxidants and electrolytes to make a chewable form of GU. GU Chomps are my FAVORITE!!! I feel like a little kid with a package of fruit snacks on my run. Mix the oversized bite with some water and you will forget you are running until the flavor leaves your mouth.
1 Packet of Lemon Lime Gu Brew and 1 Packet of Orange Gu Brew: GU Electrolyte Brew is water's new best friend. The fact is, when you work out you sweat more than just water. So when you drink you gotta have a special Brew with the right amounts of sodium, potassium and carbohydrates to bring your system back into balance. Used consistently, GU Brew will help you perform better and go longer. I have tested the Blueberry Pomegranate flavor, mixed with water the packet makes 21oz of high power drink. I LOVED the flavor I tried on the Run.
1 Vanilla Orange Gu Roctane: Comes from years of testing scientifically-proven formulas with thousands of elite athletes training for and competing in the most physically-demanding sports in the world. Roctane's advanced formula amplifies GU's original Energy Gel recipe and adds new ingredients to boost your chances of success. Now it's your turn to fill your tank with premium Roctane and compete like a pro

1 Blueberry Pomegranate Gu Roctane: Many of us Gu on the run, so you know the benefits!! I am a "Plain" Gu girl but I branched out and tested the Blueberry Pomegranate. The flavor was STRONG, which I am not used to. But I had no stomach issues and the kick of energy I needed mid-way through my 10-Miler.

How do you WIN?

i love gu! i already use all their products so there's nothing left to try :) i use a variety of their regular flavor gels & chomps in training and roctane in races. yum yum. i'd eat them as a snack! uhh, i have eaten chomps as a non-running snack actually. whoops. excellent giveaway!

As far as going pink, yesterday I bought the nathan handheld bottle in pink to support Breast Cancer. I'm sure I'll do more, many of my friends have battled and are battling the disease. By the way have you listened to the song "I Run for Life" by Melissa Ethridge? I think you'd like it.

Carlee said...

For Gu products, I'd like to try a gu packet (roctane or othewise), but I'm afraid of them. I always go back to the gummies. Such a wuss!

runsher said...

I like GU in Vanilla and Expresso.

Last month I went for my first mammogram. A few days later, I recived my results in the mail. It was the best thing that I have ever received- the news of good health.

1. i want to try their recovery brew because i bet it would work and it would be nice to have on hand!!

(yay great giveaway)

Lacey Nicole said...

2. I LOVE GU!!! i love the roctane, think it gives a great energy boost. and i would use chomps if i didn't already use shot bloks. so my gu go-to is roctane. blueberry pom flava.

Lacey Nicole said...

3. GO PINK. i have made donations to the breast cancer 3-day walk already back in august, twice. my mom and my grandmother both had breast cancer so i am super conscious about supporting awareness and fundraising efforts. i am going to buy "for the cure" gifts for my fam members as part of their christmas gifts :)

Marlene said...

1. GU is my FAVORITE. Love the stuff. :D I've tried just about everything, except Gu Brew. I'd like to see what that stuff is all about.

Marlene said...

2. My go-to Gu is the chocolate gel. Just like a gulp of chocolate syrup. Yum! I find Gu gels go down easier than any other brand and the flavors are DE-Lish!

Lacey Nicole said...

4. make cards or business cards with a picture of you and your cutie pie running family with the website and a brief goal/thank you message!! give these out. people tend to forget about making online donations but if they have a reminder card they will do it!!

Lacey Nicole said...

5. I LOVE TALL MOM that is why i am a follower. and also because of your infectious energy and enthusiasm and because we are twins separated at birth.

Marlene said...

3. I'm wearing pink today! :) I've also donated to a few friends' fundraising efforts for the Toronto Walk to End Breast Cancer as well as CIBC Run for the Cure.

Lacey Nicole said...

6. i tweeted the giveaway and it shows up at the top of my blog!!

Marlene said...

4. Successful strategies to raise money... I have only done this once (May this year). I hate asking people for money. :/ I tried to include reasons not just to support the cause in general, but to explain WHY the cause was important to ME. In my case, it was a race to raise money for Kids With Cancer and my girlfriend had recently found out that her 3 year old had Leukemia (fortunately, he is still fighting a good fight). It was an honor to raise money in little Nolan's name.

Cranberry Apple Chomps are red,

Blueberry Pomegranate Chomps are blue,

Sugar is sweet,

But I prefer GU!

Suzy said...

I'd try the GU chomps - strawberry or cranberry/apple.

I'm already a follower!

Shannon said...

I would like to try another flavor of the Gu Roctane. I tried the Blueberry Pom. this weekend too and sadly couldn't handle the taste. It was awful!!!! Sorry, gu!

Shannon said...

My go-to Gu so far is the Tri-Berry regular Gu. So far that's the only flavor I can tolerate.

Shannon said...

To go pink for breast cancer, I'm raising money for Susan G Komen. To date this year, I've raised $850 plus some offline donations. So, around $900. :)

Shannon said...

I have no strategies for raising money for charity through running. I wish I did. But, I do really well at raising money by bugging every last person I know to donate. :0)

Shannon said...

I'm already a follower, of course.

Shannon said...

My free style comment:

Go Pink or Go Home. Lame, I know. :0)

Britt said...

I love Gu! I think plain, old vanilla is my favorite. I also liket the Orange Burst, too. :)

Britt said...

Woops- I guess my go-to GU would be the above.
I would like to try any of the Roctain line.

Britt said...

I made donations to several individuals to support their 3 day breast cancer walk. It sounded amazing and I would love to be apart of it in the future. :)

Britt said...

I'm a loyal follower! I love reading how you are balancing being a mommy, runner and provider for your cute little family. :)

Britt said...

I'm linking you back. :)

The CilleyGirl said...

I'm already a follower! I follow Tall Mom on the Run because the enthusiasm is contagious, and because it's from a PacNWesterner like me!

The CilleyGirl said...

Going pink: I'm still drooling over the hot pink New Balance 769s that are out for the Cure. My mom is coming down for my birthday at the end of the month; if I can't talk her into getting them for me as a present then I'm going to do it!

The CilleyGirl said...

I don't yet Gu (haven't really run far enough to need it). But I will soon; I've got two in my pantry to try (lemon lime sublime and I think vanilla rasberry), just waiting for my long run this weekend. I do like Clif Shot Bloks, so I'm sure I'd like the Gu chomps.

The CilleyGirl said...

My random comment: Gonzaga is the coolest college in Washington (*after* Washington State, that is!). Go ZagCougs!

Running, kind of. said...

I checked out the site! I had no idea that they did more than just the gu I use (which will be noted in the next comment!)! I would like to try the Gu Chomps! I like the idea of just a chewy thing, not a guey, think semi-fluid.... :) Any flavor would do!!

Running, kind of. said...

My go-to Gu is the Lemon Lime Gel. I really like it and it goes down easy. Although I did try the chocolate during my last half and it was pretty tasty! I found my system of taking the gu gel about 1 min before a water station and then drinking. that worked out really well!

Running, kind of. said...

I am a follower...because of all the sweeeeeet give aways, DUH! :) and the entertainment and the information, and the encouragement, and the photos!

Running, kind of. said...

I am not sure what i will be doing to go pink this month officially. BUT today I wore a pink shirt to the dog park. It in NO WAY whatsoever matched my red and black shorts and black tights. I was making a pink statement!

:)

Ashley said...

FUN, I <3 giveaways!!! I'm a loyal Tall Mom follower!! :)

Ashley said...

My go-to Gu is CHOCOLATE OUTRAGE GU!!! OMG, tastes like brownie batter! I LOOOOOVE it!!!!

Ashley said...

I will be making a PINK statement by putting more pink extensions in my hair this month. My salon charges 1/2 price for pink extensions during Breast Cancer month and all proceeds go to breast cancer research.

Ashley said...

I'm also doing a race this Saturday that benefits organizations that support cancer patients and their families. The founder of the race (a former teammate of mine) lost his son to Leukemia and his wife to breast cancer.

The Happy Runner said...

OK, I'd like to try the chomps. Haven't tried them yet.

Nice giveaway, Tall Mom!

The Happy Runner said...

I follow you :-)

unathleticrunner said...

I've never been a huge gu lover--I like the chewy things from Clifts better but, hands down the Gu works wonders! I use the expresso one the most :)

Amanda said...

I love Gu Chomps and Roctane (the orange-vanilla flavor is my fav although the blueberry pomegranate is pretty good too. I'm running in a Race for the Cure this month!

Catey said...

I would love to try the chomps...I have yet to like any of the others I've tried (luna, cliff), so I'd like to see if these change my mind about chewing on the run!

Catey said...

My go-to Gu is the Gel-in Vanilla Bean or Tri Berry. They got me through my first two triathlons (and the training before hand), so I bank on those Gu's to keep me going!

Catey said...

On going pink.....this kind of hits a soft spot for me, as my best childhood friend's mom fought brilliantly against breast cancer for many years before finally succumbing eight years ago. She was such an inspiration, one that ironically I didn't appreciate until recently-I assume because I was so young still when all of this was going on.
I host a giveaway each Friday on my blog, and one of the giveaways this month will be a Pink package in memory of Carolyn. It's still being put together, but hopefully it will continue to grow to be a killer giveaway!
Also-I decided a few years ago that the best way to celebrate my birthday (in 3 wks!), is to do something for someone else. This year that includes helping organize a community run for Breast Cancer awareness, as well as adding some great Pink products to my wardrobe (shopkomen.org, pinkribbonshop.com, etc).

Catey said...

I'm a follower. Because you rock. : )

Catey said...

Fundraising-ASK, ASK, ASK!!! Heck, stick a sign on your back when you run that says "I'm raising money for Breast Cancer, stop me to donate!" : ) I bet that'd get some attention! Get the word out there as much as possible. The worst thing that can happen is that someone will say "no", but that just puts you one step closer to a "yes"!

Catey said...

Can you believe it's still me commenting here? Ha!
OK-my freestyle comment is actually an idea...How awesome would it be to get pictures of people running in pink? There are so many runners out there-wouldn't it make an awesome flikr page or even just a slideshow on a blog to have pics of people from all over the country, and even the world, running in pink this October?

Velma said...

I am following you :)

Velma said...

I want to try the holiday GU. The one with the gingerbread man on it. I always see them in the store, but I have been scared to try something new. I love me some chomps. Great for running - even better for a snack on the bike!

Velma said...

I go pink by having a pink light bulb on my front porch light :)

Velma said...

Question: Tell me more about the trip to Hawaii. I want to go with hubby, but I am worried about leaving the kids. How long did you go for and how did you cope.

Molly said...

I would want to try the Just Plain Gu gels, I'm curious about if it would go down better without a weird fruit taste.

Molly said...

I walked in the Komen Cancer walk this past Sunday with 25 family members, to help with awareness month.

Molly said...

I follow already...love your products and reviews, plus reading about all you do as a mom and a runner.

The only product left to try for me is Gu Brew. All the flavors except for lemon lime interest me.

Lisa said...

My favorite GU product is the mint chocolate gel. It just tastes so good. I also like the strawberry chomps for races. Yummy and easy to carry/eat.

Lisa said...

I'm already a follower. I love the tone and positive energy of your blog, as well as all your product reviews and of course the giveaways!

Random comment - I was at the airport in San Jose and the bathrooms were great! I usually travel with a small carry-on suitcase and it's such a pain trying to maneuver the suitcase into the stall and close the door. Well, in San Jose all the stall doors opened outward! Such a simple thing to do yet it made it so much more convenient. Why has no one else thought of that before?

sam said...

Wow what a great giveaway!

If I could try any product I would love the GU Brew in lemon lime! mmm mmm mmm!

sam said...

For breast cancer awareness month I will be fully decked in my pink swag! Just to show my support and love! And perhaps I will do a giveaway like you! I am feeling inspired!

sam said...

Raising money through my running? Seeing as how my whole family/friends think I can not run I would ask them to give me a donation for every mile a ran. Then Id blow them a way and run 5 miles and they would all have to cough it up!

sam said...

I posted about this giveaway in my blog! =] check it out! I also let people know that this is not the only one you will be doing this month!

sam said...

did i already post i am a follower! well i am! i follow you because i am a new runner and i love getting tips, advice, comments on how i can improve my running!

here goes the freestlye! i was thinking last night as I was trying to doze off of all the places I would love to run! I pictured myself running in france by the eiffell tower, and in ny in greenich village, and that is just to name a few! I decided to start a journal off all those places and make it my goal to get there one day with my sneakers on!

*sung to the tune of if your happy and you know it*

If you're going on a run, eat a Gu Chomp.
If you're going on a run eat a Gu Chomp.
If you're going on a run, and you want it to be fun, if you're going on a run, eat a Gu Chomp.

(Can you tell I have kids :) )

Ang said...

I have the best fund raising idea. What if you approach the companies that send you free stuff, and ask them to donate to the cause, and then you'll put up a free add on the blog, or a post giving them a donating shout out with a link or something???? Super good idea huh!

RunningLaur said...

Gu is my go to fuel brand. I'd like to use the more natural / organic gels like clif or carbboom, but Gu has been best for me!

RunningLaur said...

My fav flavor is triberry, but both roctanes are really good too - just expensive. I have the feeling that the new roctane pineapple I awesome too, I just can't find it locally yet!

RunningLaur said...

Gu fun fact: did you know they make special edition flavors? There are 2 holiday flavors for 2009! Mint chocolate and vanilla gingerbread!

RunningLaur said...

And Im a follower.

RunningLaur said...

And to go pink, I helped a friend train for her first 5k, which was the Komen NYC just a few weeks ago. Se was great, even with something like half a million people there!

Ashley said...

2. I use espresso GU most of the time, I love it. Any GU with caffeine works for me actually! I like the little bit extra kick it gives me.

Ashley said...

For breast cancer awareness month, I've made it a point to wear some of my grandmother's jewelry I inherited when she passed away from breast cancer, as well as wearing pink on Fridays. I also wear my new pink STRENGTH bracelet everyday now, I got it at Komen Race for the Cure and love it.

Ashley said...

Also, I'm a follower. Why? Because I love reading about your training and find your blog very motivational.
