Rain Rain...

This morning it was RAINING.. FYI I LOVE the rain!! I may complain about it on occasion, bot overall I am a fan....I am 333% sure it stems from growing up in the Pacific Northwest. Today on the 5K training plan was a 5 miler, so WE headed to the Orting trail.
Time for a Hat and long sleeves. And I tested a pair of tights I bought using the Giftcard to Online shoes from Runner's Lounge....full review SOON. I have not plugged in the Garmin for stats, but this run was GREAT! This was the first 5 miler where Muscle Man ran the entire time, and pushed the Little studs the ENTIRE TIME! Amazing!

The rain brought out the Fisherman in the River near the trail. The path was blocked so I yelled "On your Left." They moved left...I thought "Your Other left." Guess fisherman do not understand. The first mile or so the boys were entertained but soon they let us know they did not like the cold and rain...BUMMER! We had snacks, the DVD player and toys...but nothing seemed to help....so we just ran.

The first half of the run is slightly uphill. around mile 2 Blaine said "Are you speed walking?" I said "No honey we are running." He replied "You are not running very fast!" WOW that kid is ready to coach!!

Just before the turnaround a Man running, wearing a fuel belt, with a lady next to him on bike passed us. He smiled and said "Hi guys," to the boys. I HEART nice runners. I asked him how far he was going he said "20 miles today, I am at mile 9." I said "Good luck," and we turned to finish our 5. (Sidenote: I was jealous of him, I really wanted to be running 20 miles. How weird is that?) The second half we sped up...my legs are not the best at increasing speed once I hold in a pace but today I really settled in my stride.

The last mile we were going FAST, I could hear the song "Rain Rain go away...." on the boys DVD player...the Irony! Funny thing is we passed our neighbor with 1/2 mile left, he was headed out fishing. Not sure if it was a good day to fish, but our run was PERFECT the little mist felt great. And my green Pearl Izumi shoes held up to the puddles, BONUS!! Will post the STATS later, for now here are a few pictures...

The playground was wet so we posed for a quick shot.
A little wet but not too bad. I LOVE my New Balance tights and Brooks shirt.
Sweaty and Triumphant. Way to go honey!
Muscle Man still had energy to chase the Little Studs. This picture makes me SMILE.
Beautiful Orting, wet in the PNW. Easton learned to say "Wet" today.
The boys getting some energy out before hopping in the car. Their reward? A stop at Lowes to pick up some sand for their new Froggy sand box. Thanks Grandma and Grandpa!
After the run I got cleaned up to meet my BF Charity for Thai food and to see "The Time Traveller's Wife."
My necklace says "Live to Run, Run to Live." More details about this and more on Monday...and there just may be a GIVEAWAY to go with it. Stay tuned.
Taking a Bloggy day off Sunday. Will try to make it around to comment, if not will check in on Monday. I have the DAY OFF!! YIPPEE...

I really like that Brooks 'run' shirt, I'll have to look for it!

And I had a laugh at your long sleeved shirt and leggings to run - it's been so long since I've worn anything that warm!!

I really like your blog. I also am a mom in the PNW and started training for my first half 50 days ago (and am blogging about it at http://momvsmarathon.blogspot.com). Anyway, I'm not a complete noob at running, but am finding it challenging to fit in to my schedule now! Love your running outfit. I'm constantly searching for the perfect pair of bottoms... :)

Ahh! I NEED to love the rain. I just don't yet. I have been here just over 2 years now. Maybe the love is slow growing. Although while i was doing my 5.25 this morning on the dreadmill I was thinking how nice it would have been to be outside. Sounds like you all had a great run! i remember the days when my son would tell me to "run faster"! Pretty cute!

Funny, your little boy telling you you're not running fast enough. I would have made him get out and show me how FAST he could run. HA! I kid! ;)

I don't mind running in the rain. Yesterday I left when it was dry but I got soaking wet two times during my run but I didn't mind. The only thing I don't like very much (yet) is starting to run when it's raining.

Your day looks like a lot of fun!

Oh boy, you and are total opposites on the rain. I HATE IT! From about now until next July you'll hear me longing for long warm summer days. Pretty sure it's b/c I grew up in temperate, sunny Cali. Oh well!

Fun family 5k action. Love the pics! Also, love the pictures of you getting ready for your lunch.
