At the Start Line

Yesterday was my work-lunch-running-buddy Shelby's WEDDING day!!! A beautiful, SUNNY and hot day in Seattle. The perfect day for the START LINE of marriage. Shelby and I ran on Tuesday....I generally refrain from unsolicited advice, but in the case of a wedding I was given GREAT advice which I pass on to all couples getting married. Our wedding photographer told me this....

  • When you say your vows look each other deep in the eyes and do not lose that eye contact. Say your vows from your heart and promise the words to each other. Do this and everything will melt away it will be just the two of you.
I passed the knowledge on to Dave (Muscle Man) and together the world melted away. Our vows were the most magical moments of our wedding. While sweating at mile 1 I offered the same advice to Shelby....and during her ceremony I could tell that she and Curtis were 333% connected during their vows.... I felt blessed to be a part of their START LINE of life together.

On our way to the Reception we travelled on the Aurora Bridge, last time I was there I was on foot around mile 17-19 of the Seattle Rock 'N' Roll Marathon. It was a WEIRD sensation remembering the miles of the run...
My Best Friend Charity was my co-pilot and date since Muscle Man has his BF in town...she is always up to have a fun time on my arm...LOL
The HAPPY couple...the bridal party entered to "Chariots of Fire," Shelby and Curtis are both RUNNERS. Although he admits that he is not "Motivated."
I take a small amount of credit for how BEAUTIFUL my running buddy looked in her dress. Now I run solo for a while as she honeymoons in Mexico.. Tall Mom wedding gift was a small wall hanging from Target which simply says "Chase Your Dreams." Appropriate gift for my running buddy I would say...and super advice to anyone at the START LINE of something new. Chase your Dreams....you might get lucky and catch them.
CONGRATS to SHELBY AND CURTIS!!! Hugs and Love.

Excellent advise. I think I only lost eye contact to blow my nose =) and wipe my tears =).

Love your outfit.

(This is weird but I tried on that wedding dress...didn't end up being the one I chose but it was gorgeous!)

Awww, love is in the air. Great advice too. I planned to do that, but it didn't quite work out that way. I was so insistant that we not practice the vows at the rehersal, that when the pastor started saying them on the wedding day, I thought, "oh sh!t, I have NO idea what this man is going to say! Why did I not practice this?!"
