Run with me through Photos

Race photos from my Snoqualmie Railroad Days 10K race are up...and I borrowed these for my post (BLUSH). Thought you may enjoy the race through the pro photogs point of view...
Early on in the race. Feet barely hitting the ground, and BIG smiles. FYI I totally cheese at the camera's and usually give a wave. I have always LOVED getting my picture taken.
Later in the race...Still the wave, smile and CRAZY hair. FYI I did not find any photos of Sunglasses Calf Compression Socks guy...guess he was too grumpy for the photographers...DELETE DELETE
Ever wonder what the Female Winner looks like?? Well there she is...good thing the photographer had a FAST camera or he would have missed her. The 35 year old orange shirted fuzzy pony-tail wonder finished in 34:46.6 which is 5:36 pace. Many of her running club peeps finished in the front of the pack, there were some SPEEDY people.
The Little Red runner I TRIED to catch... Well here she is. She finished before me with a time of 45:35.9. I was right she was in my age group, Little Red is 35. Next time I will be on the hunt to pick some women off, like the guys do at the end..LOL...
And nipping on my heals with a time of 46:37 was this 65 year old beauty!! Holy WOW!! AMAZING!! I hope and pray that I will be hitting fast paces at that age. Once I was in my stride I did not get passed by any women, I finished 20 out of 156....My goal was top 20, so not too shabby!!
This girl and I could be friends. First off, she has my race number hello #333!! Second, she is totally matching from head to toe ( I am a matchy matchy freak). And third, look at that enthusiasm, LOVE IT!! I think I may try the double thumbs up in my next race, may be a little better than the one armed wave.
Do you think she bought this picture?? I am 100% confused why you would do a thumbs down? Anyone who has ever used this pose please explain as I am baffled. You CAN fake it for the camera for a few seconds...or just run for goodness sake.
And the winner of the Cutest Couple!! This picture just makes me smile. I know that Muscle Man and I have many races together in the future.. I may not give him the bunny ears, but I hope that we look this happy.
I don't know these people...but one thing we all have in common is that we were out there running toward the Finish together...
How will you look in your next race photo??
Careful you never know where that photo may end up..

okay the chic that won is giving me hope, maybe i'll be fast when i'm 35?! haha.

and yes, your comment back cracked me up and satisfied me for now. but ohhh holy goodness i cracked up over the turtle, a turtle. that is awesome. and i'm pretty sure you need a post dedicated just to him. "speedy family, hearts favorite pet turtle." nice. is that irony? ;)

Those are awesome pictures!

Maybe the thumbs down girl was having a bad day...either way, that's not a great picture. I love the couple picture though. If only my husband would do races with me...

Hilarious!!! I love the pictures from the race. Usually when I line up at the starting line I pick one person that I really want to pass and one person that if I don't beat I am going to hang up my running shoes. Looks sometimes can be deceiving though! I will make sure I am looking peppy at my next race!

I love it, Mel! I'm glad to know I'm not the only one that waves at the camera during races! You look like you were having a blast. :)

i always try to smile or thumbs up for the camera. i'm guessing thumbs down girl wasn't pleased with her race

I used to always look mad or like I was about to die in my race photos but now I always make a point to do something funny! I wave or blow them a kiss or jump or fight pump anything but look angry =-).

I always look ridiculous in race pictures, no matter what. I don't know what it is - I definitely need to try the thumbs up, though, because sometimes if I try the wave it just ends up looking like jazz hands! Ugh, embarassing. FYI - never do the double-handed wave - unless you're on broadway!!

Your commentaries are hilarious. Love the pic of the 65 yr old woman! What an inspiration! I love co-ordinating my running gear too!

I make it a point to smile and wave at every camera. I have seen one too many unflattering pictures of myself, so I am doing myself a favor.

This post is hilarious and I love it. Great commentary!

Boo on the thumbs-down girl. What the heck!

The cute couple rocks. I can sooo see you and Muscle Man smiling like that together!

I'll try to remember to pose for my next race photos. :)
Have a great weekend!

I am SO CRACKING UP at the running lawyer's mention of JAZZ HANDS above!!! LOL!

Great post! I love action photos - so much life in them! I did a single thumbs up in a race photo once....but not double. Might have to try that next time! Or just do my daughter's gangsta pose...while running. Bet that would be a hit! ;)

and i agree with ashley on running lawyers jazz hands. except don't believe her, she always does jazz hands... ALWAYS. she is totally trying to play it off. She even has pom poms at shorter races... yet i still run with her. i'm a TRUE friend. and clearly mel, to et 200 comments all you have to do is get me, ashley and running lawyer all worked up and talking on your blog ;)

IzzyBubbles said...

You'd better watch it, FWR...or else I am going to start doing jazz hands in ALL of your race pictures. Seriously. Every time there is a picture of FWR and the running lawyer, there will be jazz hands...think about it.

OMG, here we go! It's like our email wars, only in blog comment form!

I'm totally gonna start JAZZ-HANDING-IT-UP at every race from now on, as a tribute to KRL (Kristen the Running Lawyer)!

That was fun! I have had some horrible race pictures! I hope they are not out there on someones blog somewhere!! :)

Thumbs down? Really? go home then lady. Or not...makes for a funny blog entry!

I love this! You look great -- like you are hardly making any effort at all! I love to match too, even when I am running.

omg thumbs down girl, REALLY? LOL!

haha looove the photos! I def need to take a cue from you and start waving to the camera.... or at least look at the camera. In most of my race photos, my eyes are closed. booo.

yeah, I'm baffled by the thumbs down girl too. I mean, that pose takes quite a lot of effort to do... it would be easier to just run!

Love all the pics and hilarious commentaries! I tend to do the double thumbs up myself....you know in all 3 of my races!! Must work on something better for the marathon! Thanks for the well-wishes on my 16-miler tomorrow! Your blog rocks!

Hai,

Found your blog through Robin and like it. My life is busy like yours except for the children and I run too (not as fast as you but I'm still learning). So I've added you to my google reader cause I sure would like to read more from you.

Great pics, you have a lovely smile!

What a cool post. It's neat to see what people one notices while in the race!

great pics! love that you took the time to stalk the other runners :) i will definitely need to watch myself next time so i don't end up on someone's blog!

Great post! I loved looking at all those people. And the last one, the cutest couple, surely is something to aspire to!
