APPLAUSE...APPLAUSE.... Oh Thank you!! You all make me feel so GREAT.. (Self applause counts right?)
Yes I am addicted to Blogging and have racked up 200 posts since March 17, 2009.. If interested HERE is the START of Tall Mom. Yep I was once "No Frills," I have sense added a few frills including GIVEAWAYS!!! Will get to that in a minute.
As I thought about my 200th post and what I could say....I pondered a list of 200 things about Tall Mom...very self-fulfilling but not very interesting. On my way to work this morning I hear a song that ALWAYS hits me..."If Today Was Your Last Day," By Nickelback..
If Today Was Your Last Day
Songwriter: Kroeger, Chad
My best friend gave me the best advice
He said each day's a gift and not a given right
Leave no stone unturned, leave your fears behind
And try to take the path less traveled by
That first step you take is the longest stride
If today was your last day and tomorrow was too late
Could you say goodbye to yesterday?
Would you live each moment like your last
Leave old pictures in the past?
Donate every dime you had, if today was your last day?
What if, what if, if today was your last day?....
I know it is very hard to live each day as if it were your last... You are tired, frustrated, sick, poor, old, young, ignored, overweight, underappreciated, overworked, underpaid...so many reasons to focus on the NEGATIVE.. As a RUNNER...the line that connects with me is "That first step you take is the longest stride." On my 200th post I ask you to take that first step, whatever it may be and leave your excuses behind. A Pearl of Wisdom inspired by my morning commute... And now to the good STUFF!!

I am a follower - one of the first :)
I love Pearl Izumi, and I really want to win these shorts. I have Pearl Izumi tri shorts, and I love them. They are cut right for the tall girl. I don't wear any other type of tri short.
I went to the website and I really want a cycling Garmin?slipstream jersey. I also love the colors the company uses.
Question: Do you really like being tall? If you could be 5'5' would you want to change?
What I like about the blog - the pictures :) I like when you post about music. I went and saw Nickleback this weekend, and I was going to post the same thing on my blog - you beat me to it!
Future posts - Any nutritional suggestions? I am always working on my eating, and I love to share recipes - maybe hubby could chime in on this one.
Proud: I give a lot to my students - I am proud that I go the extra mile (even when I don't get anything in return) Pay it forward!!!
The website rocks. It is user friendly. Love the crisp, clean lines, underlting black and white themes with pops of color, just like their clothing, and the use of the real photos of athletes on each page - Love it!!! Now if I only had a ton of money to spend!!
Don't own anything Pearl Izumi yeat but I have my eye on the Sychrofloat III running shoes, Just love the bright colors of their shoes!!!
I am a follower and I always love all of the added photos!!!! Also that you blog at least once a day!!!
I told Lara at http://puff2buff-lara.blogspot.com/ to head over to your site and become a follower - Hope she does!!!!She is at about the same place in her running as me so I have enjoyed following her blog!!
I have asked you sooooo many questions this week already!
I hate to ask anymore!
My question for everyone lately is how do you know if you are getting enough calories and the right calories for the amount you are burning exercising?? I am always starving and not trying to lose weight so I struggle with this!!!
I am bragging about my PR in my 5K last weekend, 26:58 ( I think, still waiting on official times)!!!
Also about my first sub 10:00/mile average pace for a 4 mile, non-race, easy run. Finished in 39:56.
I am proud that I am getting faster!!
Posting a link on my blog!!!
busyrunningmama.blogspot.com
YAY congrats on 200!!! very nice looking shorts too :)
I am already a follower as you know... cant wait to follow along for 200+ more!!
wow only march 2009?? you have had a lot to say :)
I'm just going to comment once. i looked at their site and checked out the knickers. I really need some running capris. I have Pearl Izumi leg / arm warmers for my bike and think they are well made. I would think their knickers would be good to try out.
Congrats on 200! That is a lot! I went to the pearl website and they have some pretty sweet jackets! i love that they are water resistant and also breathable.
Can you believe I don't own running shorts...??? These PI ones look great. I went to their website, and I am digging their streamlined look, and the I like the big photo of Tim on the homepage. For some reason, the pages load SLOWLY, so they might want to look into that, although it could just be my computer.
Entry 2) I have PI running/cycling socks, and they are my current fave socks! so thin and great at whicking sweat :)
entry 3) I get to brag...?? I got a compliment today for being able to read and walk up a hill at the same time today. Im coordinated, i guess, lol :)
i'm still entering, even though the shorts you are giving away wouldn't fit me if i won them :( but i could pass them along to kristen if i won :) i want to try some of their shoes! (again wanna be like mel:)
i'm a follower, natch.
this is my no. 2 (trying to help you get to 200 here) and congrats on 200, i've been blogging almost a year and am only up to 188, but my blog isn't so much popular ;)
that said, i'm actually choosing to brag. i got a darn good birthday present for my husband (wakeboard), the perfect, most killer present that made him sooo happy and helped him have the happiest birthday ever. i get mad props :)
as for blog post ideas, i like a peek inside peoples lives, i'm nosy. like sharing things you wouldn't normally share about, other than running. i like the running posts, but like i said, i'm nosy too, i like to know about peoples lives in general as well! like, do you have animals??!! what's your favorite meal, and how do you cook it? do you weight train? see...nosy.
Oh man! How did I miss this today? Oh well! Here I go...
I love my Pearl iZumi cycle gloves!
I also love my Izume bike shorts for triathlons! they have a smaller butt pad so I don't feel all embarrased.
I also love my Izumi bike/cycling shirts! The pockets in the back are amazing!
I am working here! I need you to get to 200! I havent tried the running gear from IZumi!
I love that your blog is always so positive! I feel so negative sometimes, but you are always looking on the brighter side. I also love your giveaways. Amazing! I always wonder how in the world you score all this stuff. You are like BIG time. :)
My question for you is this: how exaclty do you know which foot to put the timing chip on? This has been a huge mystery ever since you mentioned it!
Now for a brag, I am bragging about my new haircut. And that I got in my 6 400 sprints. Ugh! Rough but I did it!
I want a PR so bad in the Seattle half! Corrals would be nice, I didn't see them at Seattle last year. But it was a mess, I thought all the thousands of people ahead of me were walkers, which started only 5 min before the runners. Stupid. So it was a huge mess, plus my first BIG race. I am super jealous of your goal, 1:30!? I should email you my garmin stats from the race with the elvation and stuff. Hill work will be key to making your goal! I just want a sub 2:00! And to make it out alive. :)
Amanda
Well, I am a follower! And you were one of the firt blogs I found and loved when I started my blog only at the beginning of this month!
I will definitely link back to you when I get my post up tonight! I'll hit you up with a comment later to let you know!
Amanda
Oh yeah, random suggestion: you need a summer picture of yourself on the Orting trail! I look at those pics and think that every time! :)
Can you tell I am really trying for these shorts!
So I was checking out the Izumi website and it is really easy to navigate. I hate it when I can't find my way around a sight.
I love the dudes triathlon singlets...i love seing them run by in them even more. ;)
I need some new tights before winter, I love my tights that I had (addidas brand) but I am not brand loyal to them. I am willing to try Izumi stuff.
to be honest I had no idea that Izumi really made running gear, I thought they were more known for their cycle stuff.
Um, hello! did you see the W's Elite Limited Edition Low Socks? totally cute! And they have all pink ones too! this reminds me, I do have a pair of the black IZumi socks, love them, but let me put that in a separate entry! ;)
I love my black Izumi socks. they even have a little R and L so you know which foot to put them on. They think of everything.
i really like the site, it's setup and great selection.

Just sent Pearl Izumi a message.
I don't think I've ever owned any of their products, but I do know that their shoes fit well and are super comfortable. I've tried them on in the store but have yet to make the purchase. Those shorts look super comfy.
I'm already a follower! :)
Their website is easy to navigate.
I just bought some tri bike shorts. I haven't really worn them yet.
I'm a follower
What position did you play in basketball?
I am proud that I made my goal weight.
I linked on my blog.
COngrats! I a new follower of your blog! I wanted to thank you for the song...I needed it to get my excuses behind me and get off the couch to do my run!
i like that there is a clearance section on the website
Uh, wow, okay, where to start...as I've mentioned, I have a pair of Pearl Izumi arm warmers that I love, they're perfect for fall, which is almost here! Ah, cozy layers.
Clearly I am already a follower.
I think you need a post about parasites because all the cool people are talking about them. :P
Me likey the new shopping links, especially the ones with pretty jewelry....
As far as what I don't like, hmmama hmmaam dumbo mamba mbuti (I'll leave you to ponder what that means in Swahili).
I shopped the site and have decided I absolutely need the "Run Like an Animal" shirt. I also need the Elite Series Infinity Knicker, because I like the word "knicker."
Bragging, hmm, well...I started taking a ballet class again, 14 years after I quit dancing. I suck now, but I still think it's pretty cool that I'm doing it again.
Great giveaway!
What do I like about the PI site? EASY -- that pic of Tim DeBoom on the front page!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm a rockin' follower!
Ahh, I have a question but just have to say that I think it's hilarious FWR said she'd give the shorts to me if she won because they wouldn't fit her. If only I were so skinny...
Anyhoo, here's my question...HOW DO YOU HAVE TIME FOR ALL THIS STUFF? Do you sleep? Do you drink enormous amounts of caffeine? I can barely manage my job and my husband and my running as it is, clearly I'm terrible at blogging and I don't even have kids yet!
Ok, I have totally given you a shout out...linked your give away on my post!
Are we to 200 yet? :)
Amanda
I am a follower.
I am proud I got my running in this week though I was under the weather.
I went to their website and think they have a ton of products. I would love to try their Splice Knickers. I have hesitated in buying from them before as I find them a bit pricey.
Congrats on 200 posts.
Have never tried Pearl Izumi but would like to.
congrats on hitting post #200! enjoy your blog, keep up the great work!
Okay, here goes: I love love LOVE the PINK tri suits!!!!!!
LOVE the pink argyle Team Garmin jersey - HELLO!!!!
Dig the pink Peak XC running shoes!
I'm already a member of the pack. ;) DUH - wouldn't miss it!!!!!!!!! I'm a regular! ;)
I <3 Mel cuz she's ENERGETIC, funny, inspirational, and one of the sweetest bloggies in the blogosphere!
What's ONE running accessory you could not live without?!
I think you should blog about PARASITES, lol. DO IT!!!! Join the cool kids! ;)
Okay, last one: something I'm proud of....my last LONG training practice before my triathlon!!!! WOOT!!!! :)
PICK ME! PICK ME!
68 comments already! Nice!
I checked out the website. Love the look/layout. They seem to have some great products. (Haven't tried any.)
I LOVE the tanks!! Great styles.
I'm already a follower, as you know.
I tell you this all the time, but I love your posts. They're always fun & full of enthusiasm. Your product reviews are thorough and honest. It's awesome seeing little tidbits of your family life, too. Your man + boys are all adorable! You have the BEST giveaways, post tons of photos and... I just love it all. :)
Here's a question:
How do you find the time to work full time, take care of your family/home, spend time with your boys, blog like crazy, read and leave comments on tons of other blogs, etc. etc. etc.
I am in awe of Moms like you who do it all!
Idea for a future post:
The truth about running/racing: the good, bad and ugly!
Okay, I'll brag. I totally NAILED my 10-mile marathon pace run last night! (Why couldn't I run like that on Saturday?)
I linked you up on my post today. :) Happy to share the love!
(Congrats on #200 btw. Can't wait for the next 2000!)
holy mackerel!!!! you have some energy!!!! i'm JOINING :) thank you for your comment on my post, and then coming here and reading this post your message really comes through- framing things in a positive light. it's an attitude i should take more often with myself! it's easy for me to encourage and be positive with others, that comes naturally. so this entry comment will be the one where i tell you i am becoming a tall mom follower! :)
and LOL contest rules subject to change. you crack me up. okay here is my BRAG entry since i need to be positive: i PRed in the 5k last august on the day i had to say goodbye to my dog-- i ran the race for her and put her name on my race bib. i beat myself by a solid minute plus! 19:05.
oh and my required response: went to their site, hadn't been there before. it was nice. straightforward. love that they have a category to include "knickers" lol. it was easy to navigate. had some great closeout specials, too! and i love the color blue that they have shirts and shorts in!
I like Izumi's long sleeved shirt selection on their website. I found your blog by following Irene on Magazine Smiles.
By the way, I am a new follower.
Website is easy to navigate and well laid out with lots of very fit looking people---always a plus when you're trying to promote athletic wear =).
I own two triathlon tops both from last season, I didn't see them on the website. My favorite thing about them is that they are LONG. Tall Mom and I both understand the importance of long tops and bottoms to properly fit our tall limbs.
I also have to say I love all their colors. Not only do their products come in PINK (my signature color) but also in a nice shade of blue and a pretty green.
I thought having a subscription in google reader meant you were a follower but apparently it doesn't so I am NOW an official follower.
Let's see I've asked several questions via email but I throw this one out there again, What is/are your favorite brands of long running pants/tights? Everything I own are highwaters.
I am proud that I got up this morning and did my 30 Day Shred video and am planning to run to happy hour this evening. I don't care that I'll probably be the only one there in workout clothes!
Idea for a new post:
What is a typical day for Tall Mom? (i.e. how do you fit it all in!)
I was so excited to see this morning that after 15 months of eating better and running regularly, I am within 4 pounds of my original weight goal!
th ebike cycling shorts look very comforting especially since i bike alot these days!
xoxo
Lo
I PI site. I have to say I love PI products. I find their cycling and triathlon gear to be some of the nicest choices - nice fresh colours, stylish yet functional. I just wished they manufactured more of their products in NA.
I follow your blog and I have only positive comments - I love your sense of humour and passion for running and your family! I also love your jewelery!
I checked out the PI website ... sigh ... I wish I had an actual "running budget." I have a hard time finding tech tops that fit my, um, girls. Usually even an extra large is a little tighter than I'm comfortable wearing in public ... wonder how their top sizes are.
Anyhoo, I like their site, especially how you can hover the mouse over the items & a more detailled descriptions pops up without having to click.
I'm already a follower & have been for a month or two ... I enjoy your site because you're always so upbeat & have the same working mom challenges as me (as well as all the other runner moms). It's cool that you convinced muscle man to run, too. I am still working on my hubby ...
Here's my blog's post about the giveaway
http://gisrunner.blogspot.com/2009/08/tall-moms-giveaway.html
I just started running a couple of months ago! Buying a new piece of running clothing really motivates me so I was excited to shop around the website! I love that they have a skort! I have one running skirt/capri combo and love it! I also liked looking through their sock selection as I need new running socks!
I joined the pack! I'll be following you via blogger!
How long have you been running?
I am so proud of myself for the way I handled a sticky situation with my neighbor the other day. I was able to get off my chest what a needed but still be civil and I think it ended ok. The barberry bush will NOT be trimmed thank you, I enjoy the privacy it offers!
This is such a cool giveaway! I love Pearl Izumi. And I'm on my 200th post too! Congratulations!!! You have a fun blog.
I have one pair of Pearl Izumi shorts and they rock. So comfy and perfect fitting.
I am a follower now. You have a pretty neat blog. Love your blog description. Keep running!
I visited the Pearl Izumi site...don't you just love their Aurora skorts? So SEXY!
I have my first 5k in a week. I've been running since this past winter, and I love it!
My hubby would love some Pearl Izumi cycling shorts and so would I.
Hi. Would like to become a tall mom bloggy pack member.
What is the best part of being tall? (I am a shorty...barely 5' 3").
I enjoy your blog. I always find it encouraging. I like when you post about good or bad runs. If all I ever heard about were good ones, I would get discouraged.
I love the P.R.O. (womens') top!!
sadly, I currently own ZERO Pearl Izumi items :(
YAY! Over half-way there! LOVE that Chad Kroeger (Nickelback, right?) song....totally true message. Going through some changes in my life now to improve it (thank GOD for running the stress away!) so it definitely hits home! Now, to the Pearl Izumi website....
I am a proud pack member. I just love your blog, you are so outgoing about your running ,motivating and inspiring! Plus I totally relate to other running moms :)
Question, hmmm, what's your sign? haha just kidding :) What is your favorite post run food to indulge in? good or bad :)
future blog topic: how you get all of these goodies to try out! I'm jealous!!!
Brag time: I just got a 15/15 on my first Statistics homework (I'm such a nerd!) And that concludes my commenting, for now ;)
Ok, numero uno, any website that uses the word "knickers" is OK BY ME. :)I'm actually looking around at winterizing my running gear...I need a few long-sleeved dry-fit tops and some sexy spandex pants (er, knickers) to keep me warm. :)
Entry for Irene care of Tribs dropping her name :)
Way to go Irene!!
I love PI's site because a) it loads fast and b) it is really easy to see all of the products they offer. (Hear that other running and sports sites....without naming names, some of you are not as user friendly as you could be!)
Oh, and of course I am already a follower of you!
One thing I love about your blog is that you make me laugh! That picture post today, love it!!
Plus, I always find great product recs from you (the jewelry, t-shirts, etc).
I do have some questions.
1) Love that green shirt you are wearing in today's picture post. Care to share where you got it?
2) Do your kids like to run with you (ie: in the stroller)? Are they going to become fellow runners one day?
Mel, I have linked to your post on my blog.
I like that they have the web site broken into sports. I was also a fan of the large selection of closeouts since that is more like what I would spend. They have some cute capris though!! So tempting. I have a pair of their shoes, but I just don't love them so they still look new =(
I guess I put part of another entry in my first. The only Pearl Izumi item I have is a pair of shoes. I have only worn them a handful of times. I can't pinpoint what it is about them, I just don't love them like I do my Sauconys.
I am a happy follower! I love that we have a lot in common (around the same age, two kids, runners, great husbands, etc.) and that a lot of your posts are things I can relate to. I also love how real and down to earth you are.
I left a link to your giveaway on my blog under the giveaways sidebar: http://ihaverun.blogspot.com
Question: What do you do for a living? It may be in a previous post, but I missed it. I know you are the breadwinner, so I wondered what it is you do.
I am a NEW FOllOWER
Went to the Pearl Izumi website. Really like the triathlon gear.
Great blog!! SOOO stinkin' cute. I love the background and title pic! I'm just posting once too:
*I'm a new follower!
*I have several pair of pearl izumi biking tights and shorts and totally <3 them. They are truly the best. I hadn't ever even looked at their running stuff!
*Looking at the website I'm interested in their running hats and shorts. I'm a running hat addict! :)
*I have a running blog at http://jenzenator.blogspot.com/ Come by and say howdy! :) I end my posts with something I love everyday.
*Today I'm bragging that I'm running once again with no knee pain!
*A post topic - group running vs. solo running - benefits of both.
*I found your blog through Marlene - author of http://marleneontherun.blogspot.com/ - please give her a point!
That's all I got right now! :D
congrats on 200!
i love your layout and posts.
follower via google reader!
Okay, here go my additions toward your 200!
First, thank you for finding me this week while 'blog hopping.' (love that term!) Not not only did you read and comment, but chose to follow, too...thanks for that! Nice to know there's always room for one more on our blogrolls. :)
BTW - This run for the 200 is an easy task: I LOVE your blog! The design is captivating, the content is both fun and inspirational, and your pics really add (even more) personality to your words.
#3: Yes, I did visit the Pearl Izumi website - didn't even know they existed until tonight, and
s-h-o-p-p-e-d (Hubby would tell you this is REALLY shocking news...LOL).
Bought a great sleeveless tank (perfect for our Orlando heat/humidity) in olive/coral, colors that complement my turtles blog, and will customize it for the upcoming Disney 10K, Oct 11th (my first!). The matching PINK socks I got to go w/ will be a hit! (Or, at least, cute by my standards!)
#4:
I am NOW a card-carrying, lace-tying member of the bloggy running pack (and in such awesome company!)... had to get past being sick so I could focus & read your blog. What a great way to spend a couple of hours tonight! Fun!
Turns out, we have a few things in common: though I'm part of the 'over-40 crowd,' and a late bloomer to running (only since Nov '08), I do deal w/ a knee that has a mind of its own, really two, that at any time, will let me know "today is NOT the day!" (old Navy injuries!). No kids, but I am a devoted auntie to 10 AWESOME kiddos, ranging in age from 5 m'ths to 16 yrs old. (Look for pics on my blog soon...) I also met my husband online-in 2003, and we married in Oct, 2007. He is my best friend & cheerleader, gives great foot rubs, and loves my culinary fascination, passion, & experimentation. He waits patiently while I snap photos of our meals most nights! Finally, Nickelback has been my running music for the past couple of months, and I listen to the same song w/ the same focus...makes me think each & every time.
#5: Bragging rights??
Gosh, don't have many (still a newbie runner), other than to say I've overcome a diabetes diagnosis at age 39, and refuse to give in. Have revamped my eating so that it is clean, slow, and simple (mostly pure & organic), and realized that running speaks to my competitive spirit, even if it's only to compete against myself. Result? Two blogs that I LOVE writing, and the community that comes from them...I have new, very cool, running/blogging buddies that help keep me focused and purposeful... and for whom I am thankful!
#6:
A shout-out to 5 Miles 2 Empty... catching up on Amanda's blog tonight, I read about your giveaway, and hopped right over!
She also mentioned the pink socks, which I immediately noticed! Amanda, I'm going to be sportin' those cute socks for my first 10K next month!! Woo-hoo!
To wrap this up, I'd like to share my blogs, since you asked us to remind you of who we are w/ a link:
www.runningcirclesaroundtheturtles.com
a slow runner's journey toward the finish line.... (i am a turtle!)
AND
www.eatinggoodstuff.com
for those who crave yummy, healthy food!
I look forward to giving you a shout-out on my blogs!
Oh, I do have two questions:
1. You really started your blog in MARCH of this year??? Wow! You went from basic to bam(!) super fast! Congrats on that! Your passion for blogging is very evident.
2. (Okay, get ready to laugh)... Do runners really NOT wear underwear (other than the lining in running shorts)? There was some discussion about this on CAUTION: Redhead Running's blog the other day, and well... I didn't know this! (again, i'm a newbie!) Eewww! (i hear you guys giggling!) I'm having a hard time with this...!
Browsing around Pearl Izumi, I like how practical yet stylish their clothes are. I especially like their colorful running shoes.
New follower right here. Just added you to my google reader.
Here is my link to your giveaway
http://theskinnyplate.wordpress.com/2009/08/29/tejava-premium…ea-unsweetened/
Something I did that is brag worthy? Hmmm.... starting up my own blog after reading so many other people's successful blogs. Afterward, people e-mail me and tell me that I inspired them to start their own blog.
OMG i really want some pearl izumi bike shorts so badly :) So amazing and comfy-looking!
We have pearl izumi outlet nearby which is AWESOME - almost as much as your giveaway. I'm looking into some pearl shirts, since they do great colors.
And the fiancé runs in pearl shoes, which he loves. We're going they get to the outlet soon for more!
He also wears pearl socks, since they make argyle tech socks. How is that not the coolest! Could wear them to an office job even!
And I'm a follower :)
And your linked back.
You show a bunch about your kids at races and the track. I love to know what your thoughts are about them being in sports or other activities. Do you have plans for them or are they hoeing interest in anything of the sort? Ready to drive to all those soccer games, etc?
Do I get another entry for linking you up again? :)
today's post
Marlene CONGRATS Jenzen dropped your name.. BONUS entry!!
as you know, I really need a headband, and so I of course I want to try all three of the headbands they have, especially the microfleece...that'll come in handy for the harsh PNW wwinters.
already a follower :) will link back tonight!
Ok Mel...I am working it here!
I am also a contributor at Marathon Mommies (link below):
http://marathonmommies.blogspot.com/2009/08/some-good-training.html
i posted about your give away there! Surely with all the mommies on that site someone, or 5SOMEONEs will come and leave 10 comments each!! i told them to give me a shout out too! :) SO, I linked you in my other blog! :)
I checked out the Pearl site and their stuff looks cool, but I really need a longer inseam on shorts than what they offer.
I've been a follower for a while, but I've just finally added you to my google reader so that I remember to read your blog.
I think their site has a great webdesigner ;) Love their logo and the shopping categories that instantly pop up when you scroll over men or women. Thank you so much for this giveaway!
Now a follower ! :)
Linked your giveaway to my blog <3

-Doris (GISrunner)
Alright here goes nothing...
I am cracking up that their shorts section also says knickers! LOL!
I have been a follower of your blog for quite a few months now and we exchange motivation and support fairly regularly.
Question: How on earth do you manage to find the time to blog, comment and manage that manly little household? You are a machine woman!!!! :)
I totally get to brag about running 22 miles yesterday!
Unfortunately if I win these snazzy shorts I won't fit in them so if I win I will share the wealth and give them away to someone who does fit them.
So glad I heard about this through Marathon Mommies!
I am new to running (started in January) and have now done a couple of 5k and a TRI in July. So I love having sites to visit to get tips and encouragement. I need them!
And those shorts look amazing! It's been 105+ here for the last five days and I could use some breeze!
I checked Pearl Izumi's site and find it easy to use. I like the menu style and LOVE their TRI wear - esp. the TRI Richter Race top. Saweet!
Oh, this is Shelly from above, again - but logged in with my running site. I just joined your blog as a follower and have added you to my reader as well!
Ok Tall Mom, I've got a couple of questions:
(1) I recently injured both my ankles after mile one during some training. I hobbled back home, but need to know what to do to strengthen them so I can get back out again?
(2) how often do you replace your shoes? And what shoes do you like?
Just wanted to drop "running, kind of" one of the contributors over at Marathon Mommies! She passed along the great news of this 200th celebration!
Ok, time for some bragging.
I have never been a runner. Did everything I could in Junior High and High School to get OUT of running. Fast forward a few years (ahem...) to my 30s and my cousin mentions her desire to do a TRI. I managed to get my body and head in gear to do a Sprint TRI with her in July! I actually did it. Something I NEVER thought I'd be able to do.
Those shorts sound so awesome! I actually only have a few pairs of running shorts so I could definitely put those to good use! :)
My running blog is just new - but I've posted about this giveaway there!!

Hey Shelly, I visited your running blog, Swim, bike, what? I tried to leave you a comment but it would'nt work for some reason!
Thanks for the shout-out above!! Hope you win the shorts! 105 is hecka hot!!! Keep running and great job with your Tri!!!!
Amanda
I checked out the site and I love all of their running clothes. I think that the shorts look great...i would love to try them :) I've been following your blog for a while and I'm a fellow Marathon mommy :)
Just checked out their website and honestly, everything looks awesome! I don't own anything Pearl, yet, but I'd love to soon! :)
And, I've been a follower! Love fellow tall, ex BB players! :)
AND, I put a link on my blog
http://themilesofamommy.blogspot.com/
congrats on 200 already! you are quite a rambler :)
i have never tried anything by pearl but i love their "we are not joggers" campaign!
I like that the Pearl Izumi website is really easy to navigate, so I can focus my attention on all of their gorgeous gear. I don't own any yet, but I think I inadvertently started a wish list...
I'm a new follower - your positive attitude has helped to inspire me to get a bit more serious about my running. I'm a former soccer player who converted to running in my teens...and this means that I still go out on runs in (indestructible) Umbros from 1994. (I think it may be time for me to invest in some real running shorts!)
175! Woohoo!
Post idea: Guest post by Muscle Man! We want to learn a little more about Tall Mom (as well as his own running/life) from his perspective. :)
oh wow, what a giveaway! congrats on 200 posts :)
love the pearl izumi site, very easy to use and find what you might need (or want!) :)
I love the idea of a guest bloggy appearance from the hubby!
24 to go. (23 now)
I decided to poke around the PI website and do some more 'window shopping'.
The pink Inifinity Thermal jacket is so cute and looks comfy! We'll be needing the jackets again soon enough.
I don't think you're on Twitter, but I just "tweeted" about your giveaway as well.
181 comments. WOWZERS!
I swear there were 181 last I checked... weird.
Just wanted to say that you are totally awesome and inspiring and funny and I look forward to EVERY ONE OF YOUR POSTS. Hope we get to hear from Muscle Man!
Question: Do you ever miss college basketball?
Oh man, I am such a comment wh*re. Can you tell I need some shorts? LOL!
I added another link to today's post. Just can't help myself!
:)
Pick me! pick me! I just found your sight and LOVE it!!! I am definitely adding to my blogs to follow list! Keep on keepin on....
So you want more comments soon, eh? Can oblige! I saw your give away posted on Marlene's site! so that's one more for her...
And one for me. :)
PS I hope Marlene wins bc of my vote, and then her good pacing karma will really get me that 30min 5k :)
And for a blog post, I like the idea of a husband guest post. Are your boys old enough to draw / write about going to races or the track? It could be a great art project!
I have heard good things about Pearl Izumi for triathlons, but I had no idea they did running-only stuff, too! The website was great: showed me the full range of merchandise, and their eco-friendliness because they only have an online catalog!
I'm already a follower, and I love your honesty and optimism on your blog, and most of all your excitement for EACH and EVERY run you (and your family) go on!
I'm voting with the masses for this one: Muscle Man guest post!
And in case the "agreement" idea doesn't count, and because blog ideas are always fun, how about your favorite running-friendly foods... pre-race, pre-long run, pre-sprints, etc.
And of course, re-fueling...
Today I am going to brag about how I am making some decisions in the upcoming months that all center around what I want. Not what may look good, not what other people may want or think is best, but what I think is best for ME, and what would make ME happy.
Do you have non-running/blogging hobbies? How did you pick them up?
Since you're a busy busy Tall Mom, what kinds of things would you do when given the chance?
Trying to come up with more ideas/comments...
Fantasy race destinations... Napa Valley, Disney World, Nike Women's in SF, Maui, Kauai, San Diego, where would you LOVE to go?
Reminisces of a college athlete. Favorite moments, least favorite moments, most vivid moment, favorite training exercises, least favorite training exercises... the ones you hate but secretly love how tough they make you feel?
Hmmm, I don't own Pearl Izumi, but I have noticed that my triathlon buddy uses their tri shorts and they've lasted at least one season! If I did have Pearl Izumi, tri-shorts would probably be it, and probably a tri-top, too!
Oh, to explain my last comment, I don't triathlon enough, so I haven't invested yet in proper attire. But, another thing I like about your blog, the product reviews! For example, I just bought a Moving Comfort sports bra the other day per an older post and giveaway of yours.
I am not a new follower, but newer!! I LOVE the shoes at the Izumi site, lusting after W'S SYNCROINFINITY now. Ever since your green shoe post, I can't stop thinking about them!!
Great giveaway!
Question:
How often do you get new shoes? Do you go by miles or by months?
:)
Last one! Idea for a post: Race recovery for you...do you massage? Spa? Steam room? Ice Cream it up? Thanks!!
