Back on the RUN

I have to admit I was scared about getting "back in the saddle" and RUN. Something about completing my First Marathon threw me off. My body has felt a little off, almost sick, and I think it is because I have not been running. So I decided to break the ice and RUN.. Just 3 miles last Friday (Giveaway and travelling has thrown my Blogging all off).

Ipod, Garmin, cute pink tank top and I am OFF!! For months I have been passing by the family owned business of a high school classmate of mine. He was the guy in high school that had EVERYTHING. Girls wanted to be with him and guys wanted to be him. Rich, good looks, perfect clothes, blond wavy hair, he was the man. In high school I was the jock, had zero style and even less self-confidence (besides when I was on the court). I had a small unit of friends, but would NEVER have been considered popular. So here I was minding my own business running and there he was, Mr. Wonderful.

Without thinking I stopped mid stride and said "I used to know you in a past life." (HOW COOL AM I! LOL) He looked at me….and looked again and said "You did?" People do no recognize me, I think it is the thick bangs that I decided to grow out mid Freshman year of college. Would you have recognized me??
High School Mel

So I told him my maiden name and he smiled, but still seemed bewildered. I helped plan our 10 year high school reunion in 2007, which Mr. No-longer-so-wonderful opted not to attend. He had gained some weight, and the overall charm of his boyhood had long worn off. I am sure he still drives a great car and lives in the lap of luxury, but I could tell that on this day I had WON.. Yes folks, the little girl who would have cowered back in the day, was standing tall and proud in a tight pink tank top and black spandex. Running strong just days after concurring the Marathon. Of course I forgot to start my Garmin after exchanging a quick chat about weekend plans in the "It's such a small world" themed conversation. GRRR...

My legs felt great, blisters were OK and I am BACK!! Ready and looking for my next race..Not a Marathon yet…but a race for sure. Stay tuned. Off to run on my lunch hour.. FYI I did some bargain shopping this weekend and got a new BRIGHT AND OBNOXIOUS shirt for my next race. No way Hubby will miss me at the FINISH LINE in this bad boy...
What do you think??

Great shirt!

I love the confidence that runnings given me - I think that's why facebook is so fun - I can be confident that I'm in a better place than all of those high school all stars :)

LOVE the shirt! Green is my color, so I'm biased, but I love it. Plus, I really like shirts that stand out in races. That one will and you'll look great :-)

Well, the "bangs" vs "no bangs" makes a bit of a difference....but that bright smile is one of a kind and a dead giveaway! If he didn't recognize you, there's something wrong with the guy!

BTW, you are such a doll face! Did either of your kids get your dimples??
