Stats for 6/1:
5 Miles
Time- 40:48
Pace- 8:09
Sunny day, partial run with kiddos and hubby, hills and tired legs.

I work from home on Mondays, LOVE IT!! Often muscle man and the little studs will join me on the run. Now that 5 miles is my minimum, hubs is not interested in trolling along with me the full route. Today we were together for less than a mile and he took the kiddos to play on the gravel path through the woods. I set off alone.

My plan was to work hard, push to the point that I felt uncomfortable. That was easy to do today, it was HOT, legs were tired, air was thick and the scotch broom killed my breathing. Yes I was UNCOMFORTABLE. I thought about ripping off my shirt and running in my sports bra. Decency ruled over comfort. I wore my cute new shirt which was a mistake...because it held in the heat, but hey I have a great option for a chillier day. Up and down hills trying to go FAST, I was happy for the stoplight reprieve, even for a minute, at the top of Car Killer Canyon (that is my pet name).

I TOUGHED it out and found hubby near where he met me at the end of my 20 miler. WATER! GEEEZZZ!! I am lucky that my marathon is this month and that I live in Washington or I would surely melt. Today was a max temp of maybe 82, I am already complaining and afraid of heat stroke (OK That is a little dramatic). Missing my indoor sports today :) OK I know there are indoor options for running but I am 6 feet tall and NOT graceful, put the two together and it is not a good mix on a treadmill

Done…one step closer to the Marathon. Looking at my training plan and crossing off the days. Week 13 already!! I have run 47 times since I started this plan (only missed 2 full days on the plan both while away from home Spokane and Hawaii). Only 14 training days left before the BIG ONE!! Even after an UNCOMFORTABLE 5 miler I know that I am READY!!! As ready as I can be to run 26.2 miles..

I played with the coloring to make this more fun. Look at my mid arms, I have a perfectly dorky diamond tan line from running. I really need to find a tanning bed one of these days.

HUGS!! Mel

I love the shirt, and also that you look as positive and happy in photos as your posts suggest. :) Training in the heat/humidity is definitely an extra challenge and I'm glad you won't have to do it in the worst of summer heat.

I *heart* your diamond tan!! Maybe the next challenge could be evening it out? Talk about uncomfortable...

the shirt is really cute! I just can't wait to hear your race report, I know you're going to kill that marathon. You're so ready!

Well, I don't have the diamonds but I have a pretty awesome garmin line on my wrist - and since I have the old school 201, it's gigantic! And some nice short lines on my legs, too. Sexy. :)

You look great in your picture! So lean & healthy... diamond tan lines and all!

Stay away from tanning beds... those are SO bad for you!

You are ready for your marathon, I have no doubt about that. You are going to do great!

I have never seen one of those diamond tan lines on anybody else! I get weird lines all over from running in the sun! I am not looking forward to the heat hitting my area. Definitely going to be running in the cool mornings! This marathon training sure did go by fast! Can't believe it is getting so close!
