TIART- Time=Balance

The theme this week at the Runner's Lounge Take it and Run Thursday is TIME and BALANCE.

There are SEVERAL things in my life that I balance...I wear so many hats that there are days when I feel like my head will fall off (Sorry bad metaphor). What I have discovered through becoming a 'Runner' is that running gives me the balance that I need.

Yes there are days when I feel guilty that I am leaving my boys and husband for an hour++ to bond with the pavement. Yes I do not always feel pretty or professional at work after sweating for an hour on my lunch break. Yes I give up lunches with my sister because I do not want to miss my training mileage. BUT....What I gain is so much more.

I am an ATHLETE....have been my whole life. I NEED a release of my overactive competitiveness. I NEED to have goals and something to work toward. I NEED something that is just for me, a place where I can have my stats and feel pride for what I have accomplished.

Running has been my answer, my escape, my wonderful aide to my health, fitness and re-discovered confidence in my body and myself. I am a better, Mom, Wife, Friend, Co-worker, etc...because I run. I balance lunch breaks and Saturday mornings because it is what makes me a happier and healthier person. In the end the TIME that I spend creates the BALANCE that I crave in my life.
There is ALWAYS time to cuddle, especially when you are tired after a LONG run.

Cute pic - you are so pretty, even in your sweats & jammies! And your boys are darling!

And I have to agree with you - being a runner makes me a better person in so many ways. And with having so many other things going on in life (career, family/children,etc), it is what keeps me SANE!! Okay, well maybe I'm not completely sane....but it sure does help! ;)

I admire you so much, and more than that, you give me hope that maybe one day I can also juggle more responsibilities (and what adorable little responsibilities you have ;)) and keep my sanity and smile thanks to running!

All that is so true! I find I have more energy for my kids when I run. I like my body better and more self-confidence which is good for my marriage (especially certain aspects of it... wink, wink).

I am impressed with moms, like you, who work outside the home and can still find the proper balance! :)

You are amazing! I can't imagine having little ones and training and working. I have been behind on reading blogs, but ummm, Hawaii looked amazing, and you are adorable. So are your little boys. So sweet. Glad you had a wonderful trip and congrats on the return from paradise half. NICE.

I agree with previous commenters (is that a word?) - you give me hope that someday I can balance running and kids. As a kid-free girl right now, I'm a little scared that having kids is going to mean the end of my running dreams for me, or at least the end of my dreams to train for half marathons and marathons...it's all I can do to manage my husband right now and keep my running on track. But you make me hope that it's possible to find the balance again someday when I do have kids. Or maybe just kid. :)
